I knew you must've been talking about the PC version Wayne- the PS2 version, as far as I'm concerned, is better than crack.

Oh, you silly people... I ignore IGN, but all the things stated by board members here still ring true, and so I will not buy the PC version. :P

Kind of. Gotta websling across three choppers to get there. Not much to do really, besides crawl around Lady Liberty's face, which is amusing for a little bit. Other than that, aside from saying "I've been there" there ain't much to do at either Ellis or Liberty Islands. Except for the Mysterio mission, which was damned annoying. And so was that Doc Ock demonstration one. Fucking plasma field thingy. Oh well, beat it, eventually.
Lord Poe wrote:Empire State Building?
You betcha. So much fun looking at the moonlit harbor from the top of that thing. *is sentimental and doesn't care*
Lord Poe wrote:Again, the PC Spidey can't climb no farther than maybe a 10 story building, if that. In the S1 game I have, Spidey can dive off a tall building, fall a dozen stories, and shoot a web out at the last minute and swing. Not this game.
God damn that is one fucked game. Please tell me at least the graphics are fucking life-like and make Vice City look like a NES game by comparision. That's the only possible trade off I could see. But if the graphics are on par with what the PS2 or Xbox have, then I just have to ask...why? What the fuck were they thinking?

I have it for x-box. Beat it. I love diving off of buildings still fun but I'm sick and tired of the people being like " I'm sorry, Spidey!" when they call thugs after you. Damn sons of bitches.

I beat it! Well, I beat Doc Ock anyway. Now I have about 36000 more hero points to collect before I see what happens after Chapter 16, if anything.

Maybe now is a good time to do those Mary Jane, Pizza Delivery, and Daily Bugle missions?

You get to buy swing speed level 8 which costs.... 50,000.

Maybe now is a good time to do those Mary Jane, Pizza Delivery, and Daily Bugle missions?
Get the level 8 speed upgrade first; some of those missions are literally impossible without it.

I've been absolutely addicted to this game since it came out. I wonder: has anyone here done a substantial number of the challenges? Many of them are virtually impossible (especially ones that require large amounts of wall-jumping or wall-sprinting).

Damn, that's a lot of petty crimes to deal with!

Fucking huge robot things...well, they're worth about 500 points a mission...

I did two of the easy ones (one off the Empire State Building, the other fairly close to where that ended) and made it. But the tricks were either "Do Anything" or one "Touch Ground" so it wasn't that hard. :P

I take it this would be a good game to buy for my PS2?

It depends on whether you're the type of gamer who has to collect and do everything in a game or not.

Gamer Type 1: If, after you finish a game's storyline, you like to go back and collect/find/do everything, then Spider-Man 2 has tons of replay value.

Gamer Type 2: If you're the type of gamer who's philosophy is "once is enough" and don't care whether you collect all the hint tokens or powerups, then you can complete Spider-Man 2 in a weekend (about 5-8 hours of play) and be satisfied.

If you're a Type 1, buy it. If you're a Type 2, rent it.

IIRC, it should be available after you've beaten Doc Ock.
Damn, that's a lot of petty crimes to deal with!
Well, maybe try some of the early MJ, Bugle and Pizza missions; they're worth 500-1500 points apiece and you should be okay with speed level 6 or 7. There's a fight arena that you can open (at the Spidey store) after you beat Doc Ock where you can beat on people (for points?), but I haven't found it yet.

Finding tokens is also worth points (completing a set gets you a couple thousand, I think).

No seven that I can see. Just up to six.

It's that wharehouse where you fought Shocker. Maybe I just suck, but Level 1 was pretty bad...not too eager to hit Level 2.

Damn, that's annoying. You know how many feckin' skyscrapers there are? Gah! And the buoys...well, fuck that. I keep splashing.

Has anyone else seen the Vulture's feathers up on the Chrysler Building? They're supposed to be there but I've never noticed.

Gah, stopping people from falling is fucking impossible. Good thing you only lose 100 points for letting them die.

Simply running away from "I'm sorry Spidey!" ambushs, shooting them all with webbing and then sending them into the air and beating them as they fall is endless fun.

Really? I had trouble a couple times, but once I managed to figure it out life was kosher (as long as I don't fuck up my web swing and go somewhere else when they're over on the next block). Just crawl up to them and tap Triangle or whatever your web shooty button is.

Yes, yes it is. When I get that all nervous person I lay it on the jump button, leap up, web zip out a bit, web zip back, and let my four Web Strands Of Justice fly!

By the way, little informal poll: how many civilians have you run into (yes, it's on the stats screen)? I've hit well over 400 by now.

And also, longest drop without going kersplat? I got 1394 feet. Clearly I need to hold it a bit more after jumping off the Empire State Building, because in another quickie game I started but didn't save (wanted to try out the TREYARCH...er, HCRAYET cheat) I got over 1400 from somewhere.

Why are all these people complaining about Mysterio, I almost did it the first time, and I went into the fight with half a life meter, and had no problems the second time, also mysterio bots are not hard to beat, just one air combo finishes them off. The mech suits are a lot harder to deal with.

Also on I'm sorry spidey ambushes, just let one try to get a hit on you then dodge and(if you have the upgrade) attack attack, you'll do a wide range spinning attack that will likely kill the one that tried to attack you and beat up 3 or 4 others in the area.

Yeah. It's those red buildings. You go in, beat the shit out of the people, and there should be a token in there somewhere.

Ok, best way I've found to get points are the challeges, even if you don't win, you still get points for knocking around baddies(and when you get to endurance, thats a lot of points), plus bonuses for beating the challenge. I rounded up 10k in a short time.

Alright, how the hell do you get to the Statue of Liberty on the Mysterio mission? I always fall in the goddamn water.

The trick is to latch onto the upper part of the saucers, instead of the bottom pole-thing. In order to do that, you have to get high, but still have enough forward momentum to reach the next saucer.

If I remember right, it took me a few tries (and a little bit of luck), but the sprint button is your friend. You'll want to release your web just after you've started your upswing, so Spidey pops up and forward. I didn't have it then, but the web catapult move or whatever might help if you find yourself not getting the distance required to latch onto the next saucer. Hope that helps.

Just keep charge jumping out of the top of you swing, and use the sprint button near the bottom to speed yourself up before jumping, when you get to the "corner" UFO swing, then swing back and straighten out your flight path to the statue.

Nothing to it.

Hummm...

Don't the helicopters still go through there? I remember I saw the one fly over the statue's head when I was swinging around up there. I suppose you could try that method too (takes a bit, but it'll work).

Of course, the real bitch of that mission was when I missed the stupid rungs and fell down. Trying to get back up to the globes was a real pain in the ass. :x

Ah, just beat the Fusion reactor thing. Motherfucking homing energy bullshit!

Getting back up was pretty easy, you can swing unto a UFO and they go up. The Spidey clones were a pain in the ass until I figured out just kill all but one, web him and smash the mirrors.

Really? They went up on their own, or did you swing out to get back to the original line of them to go up? That's what I eventually did (after splashing a couple times, one of them intentional in the [false] hope that I'd just go back to the mainland).
