I hated that stupid card game and the junction system required too much thinking. The Materia system was both simple and complex at the same time and made sense to me. X's system of advancement took some getting used to but makes sense to me now.

I feel like VIII was a great game that I may not given enough of a chance to.
The card game is entirely optional, though there are some pretty neat rewards to be had if you keep up with it. The junction system is indeed difficult to figure out, it took me at least two playthrus before I had it mastered. The ending is fantastic, though, so you definitely want to finish that game at some point.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I only ever fully finish a handful of titles, and then it takes time. I'm usually happy just to reach the story's end without going for a "100% completion."

On the subject of FFs: I maintained interest throughout FFVIII, I never finished either FFVII or X on my own. In fact, I was thinking about playing through VIII again.
There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum

Like so many have ready siad, I rarely finish games. Unless I paid a lot for it, eg Halo, Hitman: Contracts...

Most games I buy are budget labels and I just get bored of them.
