The Illithid Mech Jockey was just a joke to go with the whole absurdity thing. I'm all for it using a normal human and some class. Any chance of a clockwork inventor whatever-the-special-classes-are-called class?

You'd have to sell the GM on whatever book it was that had a bunch of monster classes that leveled them up through their HD and level adjustment, seeing as a baseline Monster Manual Mind Flayer is something like an ECL of 14 all told.
You would then have to survive for twelve levels of advancement before you even had a shot at trying to be a Mech Jockey, presuming the GM is willing to allow that
Personally, I'd try to find something a little less absurd.

Speaking of which, I would like to join. Presuming that my Tarrasque Dark Side Marauder isn't allowed, I'll probably want to go with a thief or ranger type, thus unbalancing the party more away from the magic users, and making it cheaper for the movie version to eventually be made due to the reduced special effects.
That's horrible! without special effects, we'll have to actually hire good actors.

I'm working on it right now. Skills are easy; most of his powers won't require too much tweaking. The final result will probably be something like a psychic warrior, in terms of his 'Force Points.'

There's an artificer class Magic of Faerun, though it's a prestige class, it might be what your looking for. :)

None of my players, real-life or virtual, have ever played as an arcane trickster. I forgot they even existed *flips through DMG.*

Sadly, my parents won't allow me to take my D&D books to college with me, out of fear that I will play D&D instead of attending class and thereby fail. Thank God for the SRD. I'll try to smuggle my PHB along inside of a binder or something and hope I'm not asked to DM for anyone.

Edit: 3.5, I presume? That will determine which PHB I bring along and which serves as the decoy to leave home...

Building character now :)

It would probably be easier if I used the class stats from Knights of the Old Republic. It would be much easier to convert. At least insofar as feats and powers are concerned. It is pretty much preconverted.

A lightsaber would, I assume(based on SW characteristics) Bypass Armor and damage reduction...(Magical bonues of armor etc notwithstanding) and use dexterity to hit and damage(as strength is sort of a non-issue with a blade made of pure energy)

Character is loosly based on those basic assumptions(and a bit of common sense)

D'oh! *slaps head.* Forgot about the Consular in KOTOR. Your right, it probably would be much easier to convert...
As for the lightsaber: Bypass damage reduction of armor, and perhaps a -2 to the target's AC against it? Anything else would be a wee bit overpowered.

Works for me

what I mean by bypasses damage reduction is that things like doors or wepon hardness really isnt going to phase it...

I would just go with max HP per level...

Particularly with such a low level, I'd agree.
