Some more than others I think.

I just went, and will, of what we already know of the capabilities. I won't introduce a 20-million ton Ultradreadnought

It comes in handy for ship class names, and rough capabilities.
Unfortunately for you, it is very thin on Andermani...

Razzin frazzin startin threads when I'm at work freakin Bastiches.

Hmm, potentially decent powers remaining include Phoenix, Matapan, and Midgard, with Erewhon as a potential up and comer depending upon time period. Although I have the oddest urge to try to make Silesia a going concern.

Don't try Erewhon...

There's also Asgard and depending on when, Torch/Congo.

You realize that regardless of when we start they'll still be an independent power; except if you conquer them outright. Which wouldn't be good.

How much of the HH storyline do we have to know to get into this?

If it's only a little bit, i'd be interested in playing
(After checking out some websites to get the cliffs notes version of the HH series)

Of course, but depending on the time, they're already more or less moving away from Manticore, and towards Haven.

I'd like to register a pointless and ineffectual complaint, to the effect of thi: As one of the three originaal HHverse STGOD players who stuck through to the end, I think I deserve better than to be left the table scraps after all of the first rate powers have been grabbed.

Now that I'm done bitching, I guess I'll go with Matapan, just to see if I can do any better than I did with their hopeless last stand after Thirdfain crippled them as a power.

Basically you need to have enough familiarity with the universe to manage a nation in it.
Dahak wrote:Of course, but depending on the time, they're already more or less moving away from Manticore, and towards Haven.
True enough. But they'll still be independent.
consequences wrote:I'd like to register a pointless and ineffectual complaint, to the effect of thi: As one of the three originaal HHverse STGOD players who stuck through to the end, I think I deserve better than to be left the table scraps after all of the first rate powers have been grabbed.
I'll see what I can do. I'm kind of trying to manage on a first come, first serve.

Although Erewhon is still available and if Dahak is as happy to have you as I think it won't be hard to leverage it.
consequences wrote:Now that I'm done bitching, I guess I'll go with Matapan, just to see if I can do any better than I did with their hopeless last stand after Thirdfain crippled them as a power.
If you want to go with some one, I'd be willing to allow the Asgard and Midgard to be substantial powers. On the map they're at as least large as the Andies and the Asgard in particular have a junction with no less than three wormholes.

So in short, I have no problem at all with you having one of them at least on a rough par with the Andies.

Basically:

Asgard
Midgard
Pheonix
Sidemore/Marsh (depending on the time frame).

I'm tenatively assigning Erewhon to Consequences but I will give him first dibs on anywhere else.

Just crossed my mind.
Post-WoH wouldn't be too good, as I would already be at war with Straha, and Erewhon would be in my pocket.
Should be sometime before Operation Thunderbolt, so the situation hasn't escalated to a full war and could be averted by diplomats.

Actually, I think you would need to modify that some in light of things.

Personally, I might borrow some of my OOB stuff from here: Honorverse Ship Listing
Haven't seen that site in awhile. I've got 11 designs of mine in there under the other Folks Design section.

Blast. BLAST! I /had/ to be busy the weekend this thread shows up...hrm...what to pick...if the timeline suits, I could really dig Torch. Otheriwise...I think Sidemore, just because the others are referenced so little that I dun know what the blazes to do with them. Torch...hey, I get to mack on Mesa, and I have a 'Secretary of War,' which is cool in and of itself.

Here's another thought, as to factions...Silesia's hardly a real nation in and of itself, any thoughts on taking Silesian regions, or even individual Silly system governors? For that matter, someone looking for a real interesting situation IF we play WoH-timeline could grab the Talbott Cluster. Of course THAT depends on how Saganami Tradition or whatever it's called turns out, but hey, I'll wait and see :)

Torch, unless the timeline chosen ends up precluding them, in which case Sidemore. As much as I want to play Torch, I think a pre-SD(P)/CLAC timeline might work out better, just because of the orders-of-magnitude increase in power of the three navies who have them.

Yeah, well I'm going to let the players decide. Right now it seems something in between AoV and WoH is what's most popular.

On one hand, you get all the fun toys. On the other hand, Ghost Rider alone makes everyone who is not SKM, RoH, or AI totally irrelevant in all respects, pretty much. I mean, how do you engage a ship that has higher accel that you do for a given class, has multiples of your missile range, has MASSIVELY superior EW in all categories, both defensive and offensive, /and/ who has revolutionary new designs like SD(P)s and CLACs. Would be an interesting environment with everyone struggling to play catchup, but that relies on the Big Three's maturity (and fixation on each other) to avoid, say, the Solarian League being punked upon mightily.

That's part of it. This isn't meant to be as balanced. It's relying on the political entanglements to keep things from getting out of hand.

Keep in mind that the political factors that protect it are still there.
