It is pointless to stand in the way of the mighty and be ground underfoot, prudent to let them pass by and mind your own affairs. We do not ask that you transfer our knights to the Mediterranean. We will send our more mobile units to the theater. If you wish to bring any of our ground forces, I offer you a contingent of Morwood rangers; they are skilled stalkers and scouts and travel light on equipment. We can spare no more.

As for a defensive pact, I gladly accept.

Though we rarely interact, both our nations have much to see concern in the rising 'Jihad Of The Three Gods'. To the end of hoping to blunt their expansionism, my people are assembling a grand alliance to deter attacks on the Mediterranian islands threatened most directly by these fanatics. If it was within our power, we would offer the same to you. However, your border is more open than our limited forces in the region can reliably secure. However, we do wish to secure an agreement on the mission to prevent the Horde's advances. To this end, we propose a limited alliance. While we cannot provide enough troops to reinforce your border, we can watch troop movements and deliver information on the Horde's movements. We would also, of course, wish to discuss trade between our peoples once the immediate threat has past. Principality technology and Confederation metals can be put to good use staving off this Horde, if Lady Fate smiles upon us both.

A representative of the Council will surely attend. It should be known that the newest member of our Council, our own Lord Brend, attempted to negotiate with the Jihad and his offer of peace and friendship was met only with threats. These are a dangerous and unstable people, and Illian will see them brought down.

All glory to the High King.

I assure you that we do not wish for war either. Precisely the opposite! We want to avoid war in our nation, and, to be honest, having you as our friend would go a long way towards keeping others out of our lands.

We wish to be as friendly with you as you wish to be with us. Trade partners, naturally, and hopefully a defensive pact. Your forces on the ground could benefit from our horses, and we would benefit from your strength on the sea, as well as the weight of your name.

This is no ploy to enter a war. Let the accursed Illianers deal with the Jihad if they wish! We in Tear simply want to strengthen ties with our friends in case the worst comes.

You are no doubt aware of the greatest recent change in the politics and future of the mediterranean region: the recent rise of the fanatic jihaddi.
