"Too smooth"? What the hell does that mean?

It means that people's movements are often jerky and clunky. From what I've seen from CS:S, the characters look like they "glide" over the ground and are just waving their feet around for show, like they're not really connected with the ground.

I dunno. From looking at the pics, it reminds me of games like Deus Ex - looks good, but not very impressive.Mutant Headcrab wrote:Taking a break from playing CS Source. This thing is phenomenal. My system, which completely chugs on Doom 3, is playing this thing incredibly smoothly. It just looks great.

Bronze. I hope DoD Source is available for free later, because paying for a simple multiplayer mod seems a bit silly. According to this month's issue of PCGamer, Half-Life Source just uses the Blue Shift high-res models and textures and Source's water effects and physics. And 90 bucks for a game is just ludicrous.Kamakazie Sith wrote:Which package did everyone purchase?

I got bronze. I was tempted by the silver package but I figured there was some sort of catch to it and I wouldn't be surprised if it came out for free later on.JediNeophyte wrote:Bronze. The gold package didn't even cross my mind...ridiculous. Talk about capitalizing on a previous success.

Maybe. But I've seen deals like this happen before then a year later they release it for free. (I'm talking about the MODS, just in case there was any question)DPDarkPrimus wrote:I see you'll be buying it later.Kamakazie Sith wrote: I wouldn't be surprised if it came out for free later on.

These are official mods. They aren't planning on giving them out. Especially not CS, as it is the only official multiplayer aspect of HL2 so far.Kamakazie Sith wrote:Maybe. CS comes free with all the packages. But $10 for a prettier DoD is still lame.

Its not just DOD that you get. You also get Half Life 1 in Source as well.JediNeophyte wrote:CS comes free with all the packages. But $10 for a prettier DoD is still lame.

Not quite. Half-Life with Blue Shift's models and textures, and Source's pretty water effects.Alyeska wrote:Its not just DOD that you get. You also get Half Life 1 in Source as well.JediNeophyte wrote:CS comes free with all the packages. But $10 for a prettier DoD is still lame.

And Source's physics, and its ragdoll effects, and its portal skies....

The water creature sure looked changed. Besides, it won't be long till people work on higher quality models for HL1 Source. And of course you forgot that HL1 Source has all the physics capabilities.JediNeophyte wrote:Not quite.
