ones I can think ofTerr Fangbite wrote:I'm concidering as part of my webpage to have a small page in regards to the various Internet Browsers out there. Basically I want to be able to give like a small paragraph summing up the abilities and weaknesses of the browsers in order for people to get some better idea of then just going with IE (like what I wanted when I had to reformat my harddrive to remove all the spyware IE let in). Then I want to help by giving a link to where the person can get it.
So what I need from you guys are a few things. Mainly I need just some links/names of browsers which are in use (windows, linux, mac don't matter, but mainly windows). I can do my own testing/etc on the free browsers that work with linux or windows. If you want to help along and give some advantages/disadvantages then feel free to do so, but please no useless spamming (IE is evil!!!!) unless you plan on explaining why. I already know alot about Mozilla, Firefox and IE, so if you have any other browsers which come to mind please post here.

firefox
IE
MyIE2- uses IE engine, it has a wonderful amount of features.
Advant- same, same.

well, you stated one of the reasons you preferred IE is because it's stable. . .which implies that the other browsers are less so.Tech^salvager wrote:I never said the wouldn't be. You have nothing to assert that it is more stable or is better.
Therefore, until you can back it up, we have to assume you're just making it up and are completely wrong.

I never said its more stable I said its stable. I've had up to 40 IE's open + Dev-C++, Gmax, 3Dsmax, 2 zircons ( its a irc client ), and MSN running.
Now better browser yes I did say that. It renders all the website I'v been to the best. Its fast, It has a great ( small ) GUI. It works right then and there. And I don't have to DL it to get it.
Now I have had lockups sometimes but thats very rare or cause of a crapppy site.
Assume as you wish.

So if its stable for you but not most people, and its not more stable than the others, is that really a valid point?Tech^salvager wrote:I never said its more stable I said its stable. I've had up to 40 IE's open + Dev-C++, Gmax, 3Dsmax, 2 zircons ( its a irc client ), and MSN running.

Incorrect...M$ Internet Explorer actually has the worst rendering engine going by standards compliance. The only problem is that some idiots think that IE = standards and code their pages with faulty IE code.
http://www.nefkom.net/g.piesche/ie/
Open that page in FireFox and in Internet Explorer side by side. Read everything and look at the stuff there. You will see just how bad the rendering is.
The GUI is larger than FireFox, and supports all kinds of Adbars. Its fast, It has a great ( small ) GUI.
Sure, but you have to constantly download security patches, which is even worse. And btw- if you're not using Windows XP, you DO have to DL it.It works right then and there. And I don't have to DL it to get it.
Should the browser lock up because of HTML code? Now I have had lockups sometimes but thats very rare or cause of a crapppy site.

2.)I'll believe IE is the worst rendering engine when I go to one of my main sites and its not rendered corectly, unlike firefox which at one point didn't rendered some of my sites correctly.
3.)And DLing security patches is worst? I don't see how thats worse. I see they are making sure that they getting all the bugs out of IE.
What do i have to DL when I'm not on XP?

I was creating a model in max while I needed to convert another model to a .3ds file so I load gmax up instead of max cause it loads faster and I needed it quick.salm wrote:why do you have max and gmax? max includes all the features gmax has plus a bunch more, if i´m not missataken.Tech^salvager wrote:I never said its more stable I said its stable. Sorry for being OT, Mr. Fangbite, but I just have to comment on this:
Firefox renders according to the w3 standards. If something doesn't look right in Firefox, it's not because it has a crappy rendering engine, it's because the site you're looking at has crappy, non-standard following code.
There are tons of things that Idiot Exploiter does not understand, even though standards says it should. It's understanding of CSS2 is just horrible. IE probably doesn't understand a quarter of the code, and not even the basic syntax (like childs). Some of the things listed in the standards can even make IE crash (including an XML declaration in an XHTML document can sometimes crash IE, and will always make it behave irrationally).
Saying that IE's rendering engine is good, is like saying... something equally incredibly stupid!
