They DID make a CD drive for the SNES. It was called the PlayStation. The deal with Sony to make this Playstation addon fell out, and Sony released it as their own console.Glocksman wrote:I hate to by cynical, but does anyone remember that Nintendo has a well-established history of vaporware?
Years ago, I swore I'd never buy another Nintendo product after the lying bastards swore they had a CD drive coming out for the SNES. In fact, the only reason I bought a SNES over a Genesis was the promised CD drive that they said would blow away anything Sega had at the time.
Take any and all claims from Nintendo with a very large dose of salt until you have the hardware in your hands.

That was the only vaporware from Nintendo, and the technology WAS released, just not as a Nintendo addon. They don't have much of a history of vaporware.
SONY is the one with the vaporware history.
