The Queen in AvP2 Species Deathmatch. OK, strictly speaking it's not quite a weapon, but you have to get a certain amount of kills to moult into a Queen from a "normal" Xeno, so I guess it sort of qualifies.

The first time my friends and I played AvP2 patched up to have the Queen...AHAHAHAH. The message "A Queen has moulted" or something like that popped up on everybody's screen when I got the 3 kills required, they all went, "Pfft, we Marines have an Exosuit on our side". Then I walked around the corner, and the screaming begins. 5 seconds later, one dead Exosuit + 4 dead Colonial Marines. I ate something like 3 rockets and didn't die.

Thereafter we upped the kills required for an Alien to get a Queen to something like 5 (this counter goes up in a row, and resets on death). Fun times, fun times.
I know there is a method, but all I see is the madness.

Darth Wong wrote:I remember playing one of the countless modified versions of Quakeworld back in the day, and it had a "cluster bomb" mod for the grenade launcher. The way it worked was that it would fire out a grenade which split after a second or so into 10 mini-grenades, each of which exploded as violently as a standard game grenade after a few more seconds (or hitting someone). There was a second-stage cluster bomb mod too, where all of the mini-grenades would split into 5 more grenades.

Combine this with the way grenades would bounce off walls in Quakeworld as if they were made of rubber, and it was just hilarious. As soon as you heard the sound of a grenade launcher being fired, everybody would be screaming "OH SHIT" and trying to get the fuck out of Dodge, because you knew there would be little mini-grenades bouncing all over the place for quite a while. And of course, they were totally non-discriminatory; a lot of guys got killed by their own cluster bombs.
Wasn't said cluster bomb a nail bomb as well? If so, I secend the "Oh SHIT"

Didn't that mod also had stuff like mouse controlled misseles and grappling hooks?

Katana in The Specialists. Nothing beats sharp, flying death for sheer fun, especially when you just split an M60 gunner in two (not literally).
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

All hail the gravity gun, Your weapons are my weapons now. Your gernade is my gernade, you shall know of my coming by the impact of the sink to your right temple.

The Ceberal Bore in Turok gets a good mention thought as well as the Medic bag from TeamFortress from Half-Life one which would infect the target with a virus that would slowly kill them unless one of their medics healed them of it, and would infect anyone else they touched with the same virus.

You need sharp objects handy for it to be the most fun.

Is there any meaning behind the mis-spelling "gernade", or is it just one of those things, like "teh"? It's obviously deliberate, as I see it here continuously.

No no no.

Take a raft type wooden block, throw it, it gets split into roughly 6 peices that can kill ;)

Books can also kill with enough velocity. Computers are harder.

I'd have to go with the BFG9000 in Doom. The ridiculously illogical way that it actually functioned (there's entire articles written devoted to explaining this) can make shooting one and having one shot at you incredible fun when all the players know how the weapon's blast field works.

Cool, a few Specialists players here. Version 3.0 is coming soon. Release Candidate is in testing now; you guys are gonna love the new Kung Fu :D

That one was close, but...the best has to have been the Slayer. Knowing all the specific moves helps, like the back kick and such. Don't do diving exploits though, that's lame.

And doing well in kung fu requires a great deal of situational awareness, I've found. You can't afford to typically charge a guy, so you have to maneuver him or yourself into good positions and use cover whenever possible.

The SMG in Halo 2, I have fun with those when dual wielded and some sword carrying maniac runs up trying to slice me then I dodge and fill him full of holes. That never gets old.

I would have to say some moments of me playing devastation, there is nothing funnier than slicing a mans head off with a katana and throwing his head around at his enemies killing them.

Also the cobra cannon from devastation, which is a ridiculously powerful chain gun that makes you, piss yourself the first time you get it. Another from devastation would be the military sniper which blasts limbs clear off of your enemies and splatters blood everywhere.

hmm lets see the double barrel shotgun on doom 3 is great when your hiding because the other guys are like "HOLY SHIT WTF" as there bodies explode yay.....

The tranquilizer gun from PErfect Dark. Primary fire fires a bullet that fogs up and blurs their vision, secondary fire is a lethal injection that requires contact.

We would have massive four-player matches with nothing but these things. We'd all be tranq'd up to fuck, almost completely blind and flailing around trying to kill each other. Good fun.

Seconded. Somebody else mentioned Worms, and that's also worthy of mention - French Sheep Strike!

Maybe I should look into The Specialists - Natural Selection is getting a little boring at times.

MIRV grenades in Team Fortress Classic (haven't played the original. Yes, I'm a heretic). Together with the rather cramped spaces of TFC, the effect was rather deadly. Particularly during the golden age when the minigun wielding HWGuys could carry 4 of those grenades at a time.

TFC had another nice one too: The ammo dispenser. Nothing as fun as building a disp next to your flag, since greedy flagrunners always tried to replenish their ammo and armor from it. "Enemies are using your dispenser" "Remote detonate dispenser" :D

Carpet Bombing from Worms 2. I didn't exactly expect the attack to be literally what the name said.
"Death before dishonour" they say, but how much dishonour are we talking about exactly? I mean, I can handle a lot. I could fellate a smurf if the alternative was death.
