Shadowgate for the NES, one of those first person exploration games.

I used to play that game for hours on end...

Too bad you can beat it in less than 20 minutes once you know what you're doing. ;)

That and star control 2 best games ever
For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;

Master of Orion 2. Hey, my screen is a joke and a reference to my desire to rule the galaxy.

Ever played the Trian 2000 update/version/release? It's even better.
It and Raptor and Stargunner were games that I played religously despite them being only shareware, I have them now and truly, Tyrian is as the food of the gaming gods :D.
Damnit, Now I have to play it because of you :P

Yeah, Tyrian2000 is the one I have. I also have the shareware version of Raptor, which is also awesome but a lot harder to stay alive. Goddamn!

LordShaithis wrote:They ought to do with the NES what they're doing with the Atari Flashback. I'm sure some attempt has been made, but they really need to push it. Give me a cheap little system that can play Mario, Zelda, Contra, Megaman, Metroid, and all that stuff, without any cartridges to blow into and wiggle around. Those would sell by the metric shitload.
Most of them have been rereleased for the GBA for cheap. Not as cheap, maybe, as one would like, but they're there.

Star Control 2, Master of Orion (the original, I hated the sequel for some reason), and of course, Nethack. Dying because I sipped hot water while I only had 1 hp left was something to remember :D .

Civilization 2 isn't all that old in comparison to some of the others.

Tetris Attack. You swap blocks around to get them lined up, then they pop. Extra points and bonuses awarded for combos. It's a very fast-paced game, the graphics are pretty even by SNES standards, it's easy to learn and a master can do things that just don't seem human.
