3200 is Worthy of Note?

Damn....guess I have more than 100 kills.

And it's apparently that I got the peace with the wraith arc....funny, I thought you needed a non-polaron ship to get the special jump stuff, but I got it even with my Mod Starbridge.

Once you complete a major story thread (like I did with the Vell-os), is it possible to get any other major threads?

Deadly is 12,800? I feel all proud now. :)

Those numbers refer to kill rating, as opposed to kill numbers. If you create a file called pilotlog.txt in the PILOT directory, every time you load the savegame it'll write to it with a bunch of stats, including that.

The numbers are the amount of crew you have killed. So killing a pirate carrier gets you a few hundred kills.

If you complete a major story string you cannot access any of the other major stories.
However you can download the Reset Missions plugin here: LINK

Interesting...it would seem that the infamous Europa run gets nerfed once you beat the game. Pity...I wanted to take a full fleet of Polaran megafrieghters and get some spending cash.

If you got the "peace with the wraith" arc, then you won't get any of the really cool technologies. There are two paths (chosen randomly at that point, I think) and the other one makes possible "cron" events (means they're activated after a certain qty of days, independent of the main missions) that produce the new inventions.

Yes, at some point Europa stops selling them at Low. Not sure if it happens with all campaigns or only the Polaris one, but anyways at that point it's better just to start conquering planets ;) that, or doing the bio-weapons run with Multi-Jump.

Don't trust their mininum system req's. They're overstated.

I'm playing this game on a PII 300mhz machine and I get zero slow down.

It's not that Europa stops selling them at low (they always sell them at medium as far as I know), it's that Earth stops buying them at high.

Yeah, prices change, and if you look at the pilotlog you can usually see crons for special trade events.

As for the Polaris campaign, I can never get the damned 'special tech' branch.

You first need to register EVN. After that, most plugins for Mac will work with Windows - you need to use the conversion tool. Read the documentation to learn how to extract a Mac archive file and how to convert the plugins.

Okay.

That pilotlog thing isn't working tho.

Irk, it might require registered EVN as well.

P2 400MHz=no slowdown here.

I think they're overstating it to give themselves a margin of error (and considering Windows they're damn fucking right they need a margin of error that thick!) so they won't get to much flak from people screaming bloody murder about 'IT WON'T RUN!!!' or worse, 'OMG IT CRASHED MY SYSTEM AND DESTROYED ALL MY DATA!!!" which we all know could be getting caused by a butterfly flapping its wings on the other side of the fucking planet!

Oh yeah, whatever :D just mean that both prices get the same... which should have been all along, can't figure out what they were thinking - trade routes within the same system, bleh.

Maybe it's related to whether you buy a Polaris ship before the branch or not... or just random. Back up your pilot file right before that mission, and try again until you get it. I got it the first time, actually have never seen the Wraith branch. You get told that there was some kind of peace treaty "offscreen" if you get the alternate route.

Oh yeah I remember, when you're told to scout Wraith space, there are two possibilities: either they ask you to "bring a sample" meaning kill a wraith, or you're told to bring "sensor readings" of the Wraiths. If you're asked to get the "sample" then you're screwed.

It's strange that the Mac requirements are also so high, needing a G3 with the latest OS, when the original EV or EV:O used a 68K (non-power mac) and it was just as fast - the only difference was that the ship sprites were rendered from a top-view instead of perspective.

Strange, yeah. A 603 or 604 should easily play EVN - heck, I ran it under emulation!

Did you really? I haven't tried but EVO. I thought it really really required a PowerMac and the latest MacOS X.

The dirty little secret is that EVN will run under MacOS 8.1 in 68k mode. It's slow and occasionally lags when there's a lot of onscreen action but it worked.
