Shaper Mallok, his beak and the blade on the end of his weapon glistening red, spoke up. "Most consider us sufficient. Our homeworld had managed to repulse an Ork invasion for a century before the Tau rescued us."

"Good We are in need of stout soldiers against what we face.Wether they are human or not .Only fools battle in a burning house."

So what can you tell me about your own abilities and those of these other ones?"

"Captain novadlorian I am fully aware of Imperial doctrine but these are what we have to work with. Now then we sit ,wait and rest before we assault this place."

Nathan looked around at the Kroot and a few of the guardsmen that were assembled near him.He sighed and looked once more at the building. He pulled a canteen from his pack and drank from it,hen handed it to Lena

"Here drink...save your strength for the duty that awaits us ahead.Guardsmen pray if you wish for His help will surely be needed before long"

A medicae has taken charge of Prius, who lays on the ground, blood bubbling from his mouth. Michaelson crouches next to the medicae, lasgun butt on the ground, hands wrapped around the barrel.

"Is he going to live?" the trooper asks, a fearful look on his face.

The medicae shrugs. "Too early to say. He's in a pretty bad way."

Michaelson leans forward. "He damn well better live, you hear me?"

The medicae looks up. "Why do you care?" He turns Prius' hand over, pulling back his sleeve to press an injector to his wrist.

"I'm just telling you he'd better make it, for your own sake," Michaelson snarls.

Suddenly, Prius' eyes snap open. "It's not finished..." he moans.

"Easy, commissar. You're safe now. Just relax."

"Damn you, it's not finished. The beast still hunts..." Prius snarls, his hand shooting up to seize the medicae's shirt. He looks at Michaelson. "Tell them it's still out there... tell them!"

"Feth!" the medicae snarls, pressing another injector to Prius' wrist. After a moment, the commissar's eyes glaze over and close again.

"Oh... shit..." Michaelson says. "You take care of him, med. I've got to talk to the inquisitors."

He gets up and trots over to the inquisitors, looking pale and nervous.

Kruger sat on a nearby piece of rubble, willing his mind to calm down. He stared at the pistol he'd picked up from the dead man's corpse. He sensed a worried mind.. "Yes, trooper?"

Michaelson pulls himself up and gives a parade-ground salute, forgetting all the rules about not saluting in a combat zone. "My Lord Inquistor," he starts, staring at a distant point past Kruger's shoulder. "Commissar Ristani says the abomination is not dead. His words... 'the beast still hunts.'"

Kruger narrowed his eyes. "I am inclined to take your Commissar at his word, for the moment." He turned to the other Inquisitors. "My fellow Inquisitors, my attempt to disable the beast obviously had less than spectacular results. Do you have any suggestions?"

if someone can keep a web way open for me, I may be able to retrieve some more wargear, those machines out there getting close enough to use haywires would be more then a little difficult...

Nathan sat there in thought." Yes but theres a chance it wont really work. How strong are you telekinetically? Because my pln is simple the strongest TK holds the damn thing still while the rest pound it to nothingness"

<Primary weapon damage, irreparable. Unit function degraded 22%. Mobility impaired. Combat functions still viable. Primary objective, defend alpha center, engage.>

The machine pulled itself from the wreckage and ducked for the shadows, unobserved by any human eyes.

Through its multispectrum sensors, it detected a large grouping of organic targets, as well as several smaller groupings, mostly in pairs. Selecting one pair, it closed in to engage.

Troopers Matterly and Corzine lounged near a burned vehicle.

"Think the fether's gonna make it?" Corzine asked.

"If not, good riddance. My back still aches from the striping I got over getting an extra bit at mealtime," Matterly groused. "Emperor knows, it's bad enough that the food is pure shit, but then to cut the rations on punishment detail... that's just inhuman." He tapped his fingers on the roof of the vehicle, waiting for a reply. "Am I right?"

As he turned to look, a mechanical hand lashed out, crushing his sternum, compressing him against the vehicle. He screamed high and loud, his last sight the crushed skull of trooper Corzine.

Pater stood up. "I'm not the strongest Psyker here, but I could help hold it still."

His message delivered, Michaelson happily faded into the background. Bad enough being the bodyguard of a high and mighty commissar, worse yet to catch the eye of the Inquisition.

my talents are very limited communication through enhancing devices, mostly combat empathy, knowing my enemie's surface thoughts, projecting fear or awe, enough power to use powerweapons., my fields would be in effective against such, but I could always haywire it....

my shrieker in standard mode would eventually cut through it, I should have replaced it with a starcannon.

Kruger rasied his chainsword and readied his Psycannon and the Inferno Pistol.
Pater pulled his Force Staff from it's holster on his back and channeled his psychic powers through it.
The Kroot and Sgt. Slate's men fanned out in a standard defensive pattern.

The machine was already moving, having selected its next target. Cutting to the right, it suddenly accelerated and slammed through a wall, plowing into another pair of Guardsmen on lookout. One was directly in its path and was smashed to a pulp, the other pivoted with an admirable show of speed as he wrestled his melta gun into line. The shot scored the machine's armor but did not stop it from spearing its hand out, finger's ramming into the hapless Guardsman's skull.

Afterward, it crouched down briefly, lifting the meltagun. Fine mechanical tendrils extruded from its hands, insinuating themselves into the weapon, binding the melta gun to its arm.

The smaller concentrations were taken care of, now one larger group of organics with interlocking fields of fire awaited it. With its current mobility limitations, the machine could not engage directly.

It extruded a sensor probe, analyzing the battlefield environment in greater detail as it formulated a new strategy...

Cait opened up, firing single shots of dart clusters into the machine, the monodarts made small holes into the armour, but did little damage to the machine. holding back on throwing a haywire until the thing got closer. A brightlance or a continuous fire from a starcannon would be a better weapon.

The machine was suddenly under attack from a target that had eluded its sensors... though its sensor suite was relatively undamaged. It analyzed the source of the attack, adding the unique profile of the Eldar to its memory, and launched its hasty plan of attack. Surging forward it leaped from cover, melta firing ahead of it in a rapid burst guaranteed to overload the weapon in short order.

But not before the carefully aimed shots burned through the building nearest the group of Inquisitors and guardsman, melting the support beams.

The building began to collapse with a rumble...

Pater was expecting an attack from in front, not above, but the fact that he'd been preparing his TK powers for several minutes saved his and many other's lives, as he instinctively pushed the falling masonry away- Apart from one piece, which slammed into his head.

purhaps I have been looking at this wrong.

stp[omg amd stamding absolutly still cait waited, while the machine fired, target, the darts would pierce the armour but could do little to a machine with that much mass...

looking down as his targeters enhanced the image, this would take absolute skill, an exposed point, a cooling system, a sensor cluster, a limb actuator to jam.

with a hellish screech his carfully aimd shot went out, take it down a pin-prick at a time.... <called shot, using the AP effect of the weapon to score a glancing critical strike in game speak>

All at once the melta finally overloaded, blasting the machine's arm to shreds. At the same time, Cait's carefully aimed round slammed into its pistoning leg, embedding itself into the knee joint. The machine pinwheeled as the joint locked, and tumbled into the group at a speed of roughly forty kph, arms and good leg lashing out at anything that came into range.

Kruger looked at Pater and saw the red fluid seeping from his skull... Probably survivable, as long as he's treated immediately. But that won't happen unless-
He fired the Inferno pistol at the droid's centre of mass.

The machine lashes out with a fist, killing somebody's hapless lackey, before the inferno pistol fires. Struck slightly offcenter, the shot burns into the machine, penetrating the armor and the vital internal components. Fortunately for all concerned, the shot singed the primary CPU...

With a spastic shudder that sends its remaining limbs flying out in high-speed tremors, the machine collapses, crackling and popping.
