Space Empires Gold B5 Game (The Second)

Who are the Hurr anyway? I mean, I know that Gups is being them in the RP, but the login screen lists all the neutrals as dead. Who exactly is getting all these ships that Brian and Tux are giving away?

They're the guys in Quadrant 27. It's Guppy's Shadow remnants really. They bought up some of Brian and Arthur's old ships.Trogdor wrote:Who are the Hurr anyway? Strangely enough, with the game master password you can turn the neutral players to human controlled. If there was a Hurr still alive... I believe it is possible. What you do is manually process a turn and have the Hurr send a request for trade of a planet to someone he had contact with before he died. Then agree to the trade next turn, and viola, the Hurr rise from their tombs.
I don't think it's worth it, since we'd have to go back to manual turns. But, if someone has maybe 10 planets to spare, we could bring back the League in its entirety. And if we get bored, try out some of the League's unique tech.

Meh, I hadn't realized how tiny they were at first. Now I don't care.Nephtys wrote:You want it? Then fight me, big boy.

(well, I'm still curious to see what "advanced tech" is on them)
I think it'll make for more interesting RP for the system to be a very EA/MF integrated system.

Hey fuck you, Son'Goth VI is mine.(well, I'm still curious to see what "advanced tech" is on them)
Anyway the only tech worth it blows.
The Corporate Sector's sending colony ships to take Cooke and Canton. If I wasn't in the middle of dismantling all my yards they'd already be there.
How is your EA Ultra Weapons and Molecular Weapons research going.
The stuff from the ruins in this mod is generally pretty lame. I got ancient nanotech medical tech a while back. As you can tell, it sent the Centauri Republic rocketing back to the top of the heap.brianeyci wrote:Hey fuck you, Son'Goth VI is mine.(well, I'm still curious to see what "advanced tech" is on them)
Seriously, ruins are not worth fighting over...unless it's the Great Machine, which kicks ass.

Well, you wouldn't have one on every planet. Just one on a core world to give would be invaders a very nasty surprise.

Eh. More like a very mild surprise. Sure it can cap any ship in one shot, but I believe it has a long reload rate.Trogdor wrote:Well, you wouldn't have one on every planet. Just one on a core world to give would be invaders a very nasty surprise.

It's worse than that. I had an idea that you could stuff 100 of them on a planet and open a warp point in the same sector so the first 100 ships that flew out would be blown to bits. But apparently the damn thing's huge, 20000 kT or 20 million tons. Actually a little bigger than that. It'd only fit on a homeworld, and only one.
You're better off making 30 huge weapons platforms. Actually if you use light armor and 30 huge weapons platforms you could give a world 20k shields and 300k hit points. With units, particularly medium tank with an emissive slab and light armor, you could give maybe 30k shields. If you were willing to scrap all the mining facilities and build advanced military outposts that gave 5000 shields maybe you could end up with 100k shields on a homeworld.
Considering a fully armored heavy baseship or planet killer has 20k hit points, I don't think it's worth it. And you'd have to close a lot of gates and reopen them on top of your fortress world.
Oh and most of the YR don't even have WP weapons that can target ships.

I haven't played a one player game where I had the Great Machine in a while. I guess I forgot about its drawbacks.

Because noone in this game would go to such great lengths to make sure that an invader has to go through their fortress world!!brianeyci wrote: And you'd have to close a lot of gates and reopen them on top of your fortress world.

-EDIT-
Oh yeah, btw i got back in last night so trogs get ready to rumble...
Oh wait, we're freinds again, YAY!!
If you wouldn't mind though please send me a pm letting me know what happened in the last two weeks(well rather, what we eventually agreed to, but from the state of the map i can pretty much guess most of it. Mollari better be on that prison ship though, i've got plans for him ). Sorry about Yonong X, but i guess it was meant to be more gunboat politics than a negotiation. I didn't realise you'd only have some ridiculously small amount of time to respond to it though.

Don't worry your ass is covered. Apparently in this time line there was an actual great war thousands of years ago between the servants of light and darkness.Trogdor wrote:(OOC: by the Great War, I meant the war against the Shadows in the early game. I probably should've called it the Shadow War instead.)
Wasn't so great the way I remember it. Over in like ten turns. The Vorlons + Minbari + Centauri against the Dilgar + Shadows, the latter two not really working together .
I'm getting tired of my spot in the galaxy. I'm thinking of a huge exodus, somewhere to the east. Dozens of uncolonized planets there. Oh and, I love the Scion.
You may use Vir's reference to the Great War in the RP as you wish, then. And it might not have seemed great to you, but considering the damage it did to the Republic, killing most of our Llort subjugates and claiming a good chunk of our starfleet at the time, not to mention the massive destruction to the Shadows, so far as the Centauri are concerned, it deserves to be called the Great War.brianeyci wrote:Don't worry your ass is covered. I doubt you'll make it very far east before you run into the Dilgar miner fleet, but Tobor and Gups would know that better than I. But if you do move, can I have New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Housten?
Thanks about the Scion. Your US warships have just held up too well for me to scrap them. And besides that, some of the crews are insanely experienced. Hell, one's up to 45%. Have you actually obtained the designs, and if so, do I dare ask how?

No I don't have the designs. 45% would be a lot, normally, but it's five times easier to hit in this mod than stock... you'll need 100 to matter. Did you fleet and ship train? Is 45% up to legendary yet, the fleet's got to be up to legendary.Trogdor wrote:You may use Vir's reference to the Great War in the RP as you wish, then. Did you retrofit in standard military quarters instead of the -75% raider quarters? And no I don't have the designs but that'll change soon, for everybody. I've made 60 move ships with sensors and I'm going to spam the galaxy with them. If 40% of your GDP depends on the Corporate economy, there's no stopping sightseeing, sorry.
You can have it if you bring the people. I'll be emptying mine. It'll be awhile though maybe 50 turns so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I replaced the raider quarters with a House ship component, which is the best one after the Ancient's component and your raider component. The penalty's a bit greater, but the maintance reduction is 70% so the cost hasn't spiked too much.
As for your planets, I was really joking. I'm painfully underpopulated at the moment (*hint hint* Tobor, I'm still waiting for you to give me my people). I'm just wondering why you want to pick up and leave such a good area for the crap between the League and the Dilgar.

Might not leave. Mostly a joke on my side too. Mostly. My goal is getting enough money to build a gazillion fighters, and having all my SA's mobile. I'll move 1000+ space yard ships somewhere and keep them maintained with trade, along with 50+ colony ships. The Shadows owe me big time... when it's all over I'm planning on settling far in the east away from U235 and building an empire there starting on the Shadow homeworld. But that's like what, 100 turns away. And of course it'd take another coup.Trogdor wrote:I'm working on building the Advanced Military Outposts for ship training right now, but that'll only get fleet and ship experience up to 20%.

I'm not sure whether you can train them now that they're already over 20%. Maybe you could've had 65% by now if you had trained them to start .

Centauri heavy base ships with battle lasers will trash Raider HBS's against heavy numerical disadvantage, even with a -60% combat from civilian quarters. The advantage over my Black Sabbaths should be equally massive, given that they were built so long ago and are so outdated. They don't even have passive armor save one primary slab.

Yeah but they can't target fighters .
I am thinking of formalizing my cocksucking of EA with a protectorate treaty.
It's too bad I didn't realize how the scoring system worked or Marxis could've subjugated the Hurr/Yolu instead of killing them off... apparently if I had eight times the score I could've done it, and I did with my hundreds of ships early on.

The damn turn's taking a long time to auto. Our game files are getting huge.
Something that might come up later. I tried simming with 2000+ ships, all with at least one fighter bay. Likely a battle like that'll happen sooner or later. It hung on my machine. We're talking 5000+ units. There's probably not even enough damn space on the map for them all... how big's the map?
Just checked, rough estimate ten thousand squares. Should be enough unless there's some huge fighter scrum.
