The Repubic fleet hung behind, all weapons charged and missile launchers loaded, ready to open up fire the moment they were called in. And over 33 thousand missiles was enough to make even a construct weep.

Colonel Thomas Jameson watched as the ousters began the job of clearing the way, now it was time for the professionals to take point. Around him the landing team of his Marines was preparing to drop down. Even though the Marines had three regiments of men ready to drop they were only going to send a battallion down initially. With the jolt of the transport coming to a stop, the company of men being detached from this transport moved forward. Then the ramp sprung down, and the company began the quick trip down the crater, the cloaked transport lifting off to watch from a distance.
Moving with haste seemingly unimaginable the marines poured through the facility, and were soon at the front of the entire assault, their engineers follwoing closley behind them, with more engineers behind those preventing 'accidental' cave-ins, and clearing ventillation shafts of Siliconoids trying to ambush poor unexpecting squishies. Soon the marines and ousters, prepared for this, began leap-frogging through the facility. The elite marines would blast down doors and clear the way into each section, then the ousters would move in clearing the entire area with their greater numbers untill they arrived at the next locked section, where the entire process would repeat itself over and over untill they had cleared the facility.

Siliconoid system

The Gladsheim fleet swallowed out of their wormholes a good half light minute behind the other fleets currently engaged.
Their gravity and normal shields fully active, weapons ready, and all stealth, ECM and EW systems active. Fighters launched from their motherships and formed a defensive shell around the fleet.
Sensors picked up the fighting, and locked targets.

Aber-Toril

Basil's personal vessel descended onto a sphere that already had spaceships swarming around it. There were megafreighters unloading landing barges full of mining equipment, prefabricated buildings, and troops. On the ground, hundreds of thousands of orcs swarmed, setting up the machinery for the exploitation of the planet.

The ship landed near a set of blocky buildings that appeared to be dormitories, though their luxurious appearance suggested that they housed vampires. As they exited the ship into the cool night air, another vampire approached them enthusiastically.

"My lord," he said, kneeling to Basil, "we are prepared to obey your commands."

Elanie noticed that the new person looked not a little bit like Basil.

The prince smiled and nodded, turning to Elanie, "This is Count Alexander Vasilievich, he will be taking over your training for a few weeks. He is an expert in the super-physical powers of our race, and in spellcasting. It is his cadre that will be closing the portals."

"Wait," she said, "I thought you were coming here to do those things."

"An... alibi," Basil explained, "have no fear, I will return within the month. I expect good progress. I leave you in capable hands."

Alexander gave a little self-deprecating bow, and Basil walked briskly away to board one of the other ships in the large landing zone.

"Vasilievich, huh?" she asked him, "Son of Vasili... Basil?"

Alexander shrugged, "I was his majordomo 3,000 years ago. He uses his sons for all his most sensitive work."

On Aber-Toril, Basil boarded a civilian merchant freighter registered in the Realm. From there, he traveled incognito (very easy for a shapeshifter) into Monacoran space, then ditching the freighter and shuttling around their national space in passenger liners to further obscure his tracks. Finally, he stopped in the Estevan system, watching the news and waiting for an opportune moment.

Slowly Karsus was brought back to conciousness. All he could see in front of him was space, the stars, and a few men floating in front of him. He was completley restrained, and had lost all sense of direction. The interogators merely waited for the arrogant mage to start speaking.

I never lotted with them, neither did Raistlin, he died for my country and I cant believe you have the nerve to defame him whenhe is to dead to defend himself.

That planatoid was a fucking embassy before the rape. we had assumed we were dealing wth a normal power, not one that could sysnthezise complex components from nothing.

Aboard the Dreadnoughts, warning signals came on. EMP had left the ships helpless, and Overseer craft had never reacted lightly to disabling weapons fire. Monacora had learned that lesson with the loss of a city. Red and black alternated on the screens, symbols whose meaning had been lost to the mileenia cried out an unheeded warning. The Ousters pressed on.

They could hear something coming. Which was odd, because the catacombs had been vacuum-exposed when they came in. What was worse was that it sounded like the roar of something coming quickly.

The gases and liquids in the Overseer's engines were terribly corrosive, and with containment failure, they flooded the crawlspaces, melting the few repair bots on the prowl. The fate of the boarding parties was similarly gruesome.

In the tower, each layer was a battle. Even elite Monacoran troops were little match against an Overseer Deathstrike tank, except in overwhelming numbers, and pairs of these vehicles roamed every other floor. Casualties were skyrocketing as corrosive and poisonous gases flooded each layer, the Overseer trying to hold the line.

"Roughly half of your records from Union and your army's headquarters on Krynn are missing. Further more you seem to know a whole lot about the Siliconoids, we haven't even determined that they aren't controlled by another sentient species, and then there's the fact that we don't even know if they have a mind, much less a mind at all. Care to tell us where you're getting this information.

As to the sentience... well, only a sentient race would recognize prime numbers and the fibonaci sequence. And in order to give them an embassy, we must have talked to them is that not correct? They mastered english faster than any organic mind ever could, faster than the best universal translator. It really is more of an inference that it is a sentient AI. I thought you would have figured it out by now"

General Sara su Kynisnet swore under her breath. On the Dreadnoughts, six thousand Marines- almost the entire first wave- had died. Only the advance teams, in their tanklike Kavallarioi Assault Armor suits, survived and those with their carapaces weakend by Machine fire died as the vitriolic chemicals slowly burned through cracks and wounds, melting them from the inside out.

She shook her head. Casualties had been expected, but not to this scale- and now the advance teams were deep inside the Machine dreadnoughts without support.

"Senior Company Leader, order the second wave to assault the Dreadnoughts ahead of schedual. Our surivors in there will be boxed in unless they recieve support immediatly. Orders are to cut into the Machine vessels as rapidly as possible, link up with the captured teams, and begin removing the Machine computer nodes."

She turned to the officers co-ordinating the assault on the Tower.

"Our numbers give us the flexibility to attack from many directions simultaneously. Second wave will blast in at the Tower's base and begin working their way up. We'll force the machines to fight on more fronts than they can afford to hold. Transmit breaching points to the Monacorans, once we clear the landing areas, they'll provide a spearhead. Wave three will reinforce the initial landing sites; heavy armor units only."

Another hundred thousand Hajr soldiers began the attack, their dropships exploiting the holes Fleet warships had blown only minutes before. Casualties were mounting at an astonishing rate, but there were twelve more waves of Hajr troops to hurl into the breech- and the Hajr intended this mission to be a success.

The Shi Expeditionary Fleet, originally intended to assist in the reduction of the Arcane Machine presence, had now been caught out of position twice. For what had seemed like a perfectly reasonable purpose, they had been directed to branch out and do survey work on their trip home, in an effort to uncover anything of interest. While they had uncovered a number of potentially useful resources, they had found absolutely no sign of Machine presence. To make matters worse, a message had finally been relayed from Command, letting them know that they had been forgotten about, and thus had missed out on another chance to constructively participate in mayhem. The fleet was then directed to return to home station, and to detach the majority of its escorts for survey work on the far side of Shi space.
