A chaos trooper teleported inside the Crone's weapon storage, The last thing the saboture heard was. "you are un-authorized personelle, Die in the name of the emporer" as Fawkes unleashed his melta beams.

trust someone to leave a 9000 year old warmachine on guard duty..., then a blast as The crone was torn open, the weapons and wargear spilling out into space.

Fawkes though for a few moments, an opject in space will continue to travel at the same impulse until acted upon by another force.

The machine spirit calculated an intercept, and discharged the primary batteries. soon several tons of warmachine was traveling through the void propelled by sponson meltaguns,

The traitor marine's blade gouged a slice out of Hethor's armour as he rolled away. He was easy meat if the marine followed up, but he wasn't going to have to worry about that.

Gix's charged force rod crushed the marine's helmet while his power sword punched through its chest and out through his spine. The legionaire fell as the other rose. Battered by Jolan's strike, minus a foot and and a hand, he was slow to rise. Something slid across the deck. The traitor rose to saw Hethor pick up the object and ignite the blade. It was Severa's power sword.

He raised his chain axe to parry and the power blade smashed it in two. He struck with his wrist blade, but the human was already back out of reach. The powersword came down again.

Drevak relished killing the Sororitas hand to hand. They fought well, with great spirit, but they were merely human. Then the Legio Xenos arrived to interrupt his slaughter. With growing annoyance he lead his Terminators against them. This was costing valuable time. He needed to cripple the ship now.

"Commodore. The port launch bays are reporting ready."

With the heavy fighting in the vicinity, this was a miracle. Lena gave the order. "Launch!"

Adivan staggered as the shockwave hit. He wasn't sure exactly what had happened, but it couldn't be good. As his melta spat another blast at the stunned Terminator, he opened a vox-llink to the rest of the Inquisitors and the ship's security forces.

"This is Adivan at the enginarium. We are under heavy attack by Chaos Terminators. Reinforcements urgently required, repeat, reinforcements urgently required."

Mekhatan hissed again as blazing promethium filled the space where he had been a moment before. Obviously that shot hadn't achieved a lot... time to find an easier target. As if in answer to his thought, a power-armoured Traitor Marine stepped into the open not far away, carrying armloads of krak grenades and headed for one of the ship's main cogitators. From what Mekhatan could see, the Marine hadn't even noticed him. Centring the foe in his sights, he fired, and the missile roared across the intervening distance. The marine had just enough time to realise what was happening before it caught his lower torso and detonated.

Munitions Storage

Virtually every one of them was wounded or dead, but they had held against the Traitor Marines. The vessel would not be destroyed by a gutting magazine explosion. But the flickering lights warned of another wound, deep in the heart of the mighty vessel, one that might not prove as immediately lethal, but in the end could kill them all the same.

Enginarium

His armor breached, the melta's power found the breach it was looking for and hungrily devoured ancient flesh. Fliridor had not the time to scream before he died, a once-mighty terminator of the Black Legion literally roasted inside his ancient armor.

However, Adivan was now beset by a larger problem, as the other two terminators decided to focus their attention on the inquisitor who had killed the leader of the ship boarding force...

Well, at least they aren't butchering the rest of my forces any longer... that doesn't help me very much, though. Adivan hit the ground just in time to avoid a spray of storm bolter rounds from the other two Terminators. None hit, but he knew that wouldn't last; as soon as they compensated, they'd have him. Rolling away from them and toward the cover of a large support pillar, he sretched out a hand, and lashed out psychically at their weapons. There was no need for anything complicated this time - he simply interposed a telekinetic barrier into the barrels of the Terminator's weapons between the firing chamber and the end. If it came off, the results would be spectacular, to say the least.

Bolter shells shattered in the air, spraying small fragments all around him. Over his vox, he could hear Gix's voice responding.

"Adivan, I'm on my way."

If he actually had time to think, he might have wondered about the singular nature of that statement. 'I', not 'We'.

But as it was, life was getting entirely too exciting in the local vicinity for him to really ponder such things. A brave wounded stormtrooper struggled to his knees near Adivan, raising a plasma pistol that he'd gotten from Emperor-knows-where and firing it at one of the advancing terminators. The plasma bloomed across the terminator's armor but didn't kill him. However, as the flashdazzle cleared, it was obvious that his helmet's sensors were damaged. While the other terminator cut the stormtrooper down with a burst from his storm bolter, the first terminator began attempting to wrench his helmet off, only to find that the helmet seals were fused...

Another gout of flame indicated to Mekhatan that the terminator had picked up his trail. Limping, dragging a dead leg behind him, sparks shooting from the lower portion of his armor, the final terminator sought out the bounty hunter.

"Acknowledged." The word left Adivan's mouth without him really being aware of it; he was a bit too focussed on staying alive at present. scrambling to his feet, he took advantage of the brief lessening in the fire directed at him to pull another Krak grenade from belt and hurled with all his strength at the face of the still-shooting Terminator, letting telekinesis subtly redirect it onto the proper path. Then he was running again; deactivating his energy blade - it hadn't done him any good so far, and he had no desire to get into close combat with one of these beasts - he shifted his combi-weapon to a two-handed grip, and aimed at the blinded Terminator.

For a moment, his auto-senses read nothing but the blinding energy discharge as it fired; then they adjusted, just in time for him to witness another spray of bolter shelss pass directly through the space where his head had been a moment before. Offering yet another prayer of thanks for his gift of precognition, he ducked behind a pile of wreckage and waited for his melta to cool down, summoning a shield around himself to block any stray bolter shells that might come his way.

The flames came just as Mekhatan had finished loading his third and final rocket into the tube. Hmmm... looks like I did more damage than I thought. Well, I'd better make this one count... Slipping behind another cogitator unit, the alien warrior shouldered the launcher and released the two hunter-skulls still on him. They hovered away from him and began scanning for the foe; one was incinerated almost immediately as it spotted the Chaos Teriminator, but it was enough. He knew exactly where the Chaos Marine had been, and it wasn't moving very fast. Three steps brought him to the proper edge of the cogitator, and, as the other Hunter-skull confirmed the information of the first, he leaned around the corner, locked on, and fired. Dropping the now-useless rocket tube, he threw himself back into cover, and watched the missile's flight via the Hunter-skull.

Already weakened by the plasma bolt, the helmet failed under the hellish blast of the meltagun, decapitating the terminator. The other terminator stalked forward, obviously intent on finishing Adivan off at close range.

The other terminator exploded in a spray of armor and body parts as the missile punched through his weakened chestplate.

Three down, one to go.

Varian finally had gotten his bearings. Trying to rush between the fire fights with out a guide he had become lost in the multi-kilometer maze of the battleship but now he had arrived at the engineerium and was prepared to assist.

"Come out and let justice be rendered onto you!" he called to the Black Legion filth, setting his will to this with a vengeance, as he held his sword and force rod at the ready. Faint whispers of witch-fire curled down the blade and shimmered blue in the light.

Two squadrons of fighters lead five squadrons of bombers from the launch bays of the Sword of Glory as the battlship ponderously began turning. The small craft swept into the Harbringer of Agony's wake and shifted towards Nightmare, approaching the ship from the rear. Terrible losses had been inflicted by the traitor's bombarment cannons. Whole squadrons obliterated, the lives of friends and comrades ended. Their very landing bays were under seige. They hungered for vengeance.

----------------------------------------------

On the Sword of Glory, Men downed tools and opened up the arms lockers. They had gotten their ships out, despite the life and death battle being raged outside their doors. They had succeeded, despite the odds. Now they would fight for their ship.

-------------------------------------------------

Drevak was too busy killing Sororitas to notice Varian's approach. The thrall psykers who's chains were held by the Black Legion fire teams were a different matter. Their talent was fearsome, but eradic. They did not have the training or the discipline of an sanctioned psyker, let alone an inquisitor. They felt he powerful mind and his righteous fury and quivered. The Legionaire's noticed their puppets fear and began to scan for targets as the thralls mewled.

Slowly, Prius came to him wits. He could sense the thoughts of each and every mind around around him, and the confusing melange threatened to overwhelm him altogether.

But he forced it down, closed them out and pulled back into his own mind. Released from their thrall, the Swordsmen mostly collapsed to the deck. Prius rose unsteadily to his feet, hands reaching up to touch his face. Yes, it was his own face again, his own flesh.

He was back.

Varian let loose a bolt of psykic force at them. The force rod, an heirloom of his master, magnified his already formidable, focused mind and concentrated it. The furious blaze of energy struck the Legionaire even as he leapt into their midst, sword swing.

It too was charged with power and it took it's toll, gore flew and men screamed as he pressed himself into the fray. The attack was as sudden and furious as could be. The troopers Varian he acqired, a pair of Cadians, poured precision fire into the mob; hot las fire added to the chaotic swirl of battle.

Reaching down, he picked up his plasma pistol and inspected it methodically. Power pack, check, charge accumulated, check, test cycle, check.

He slid it into its holster, then picked up his chainsword. One of the Swordsman moaned and reached out, prompting Prius to neatly sidestep the man's hand as he checked the function of the weapon.

Power cell, check. Teeth still sharp, check. Belt tight, check. Test run, the blade whirred to life. Check.

Clipping it into place, he stepped over another fallen trooper and began making his way toward the hanger deck. Menace radiated from the area, and he knew that was where he had to be.

Varian's intervention helped turn the tide. As crewmen poured from the launch bays to reinforce the Sororitas, the remnant of the sisters of battle rallied as a member of the dreaded Black Legion fell. The Legionaires responded by unleashing their weapons against the crewmen and having both of their thrall psykers assault Varian's mind.

--------------------------------------------

As the tide inside the Sword's hull began to shift, so did the tide outside. Pilium squadron, three sleek Cobra class destroyers, charged up the Nightmare's wake at full speed. Torpedoes leaped from their bows and speed toward the Strike Cruiser.

Trained to resist the might of daemons, the thrall psykers found little leverage. All it did was draw Varian's notice from the Traitor Marines to them. With out mercy he launched himself into them.

His ancient power weapon flashed, backed by the power of his mind and he felt it bite flesh. His mind was focused and he concentrated only on what he needed to do. He slid further into the battle, desiring to come to grips with the Legionaires, the hated champions of the Archenemy.

A few surviving beastmen slowed Varian down before secombing to the inquisitor's weapons and martial prowess. A shattered skull, a torso cleaved through to the spine, and a slash that bisected the heart and both lungs finished three. Most of the beastmen were dead, slain by the Sororitas.

The Black Legion did not stanby and wait for the inquisitor to kill their pets. One of the fireteams targeted him and the three Legionaires opened fire on the inquisitor and his men with gouts of fire and streams of bolts.

As the Legionaires opened fire Varian dived behind some of the equipment. At least one of the bolt rounds had gotten close, rivulets of blood covered his leg and he felt a dull ache in a distant corner of his mind. For now he wasn't slowed, his will too strong.

He sent a simply psy-cast to his mean. "Grenades and bring up the plasma weapons."

He slid down the ladder, braking himself with friction from his hands. Skin tore on his palms and almost instantly began to heal again, but he barely noticed the pain.

It had been nagging him, something he'd forgotten. Then it finally occurred to him what it was. He triggered his internal vox.

"Medicae to F-17. Large number of wounded and dead."

There, that was seen to. He grasped the ladder harder at just the right moment, slowing himself down enough that his real and artificial knees could absorb the shock of landing, having dropped three decks in a single slide.

Turning, he wiped his bloodsoaked palms on his jacket, then drew his plasma pistol and chainsword.

Always face toward the fire. There is no other way for a warrior of the Emperor.

He stalked down the corridor. The distant rattle of bolter fire came to his ears and he accelerated to a jog, boots clanging against the steel grating.

Bolter and flamer fire engulfed Varian's men as the thrall psykers, literally shocked into aggressiveness by their control collars, began a new assault on Varians mind. Most terrible of all, the Devrak had noticed him.

The panicked tech stammered to Nathan, "My lord, the crew are defending the hangar. There isn't anyone to do the work."

Nathan eyes glowed blues as he turned one fighter. Ther strain was evident as he spun it arround to point it at the door.
" Get too Work" He said as he turned to head out to help.

"Your will," said the tech helplessly.

Drevak began to kill his way through the hanger crew. His squad followed him. The rest of his battle brothers could handle the rest of these puny humans.

His mind was sorting through the numbers as he approached, checking positions for friendlies and enemies.

Twenty one... twenty two... twenty three...

There. That one.

"Always make your first shot count. It's the cleanest one you'll get. After that, everything goes straight to the warp."

He rounded the corner toward the entrance to the hanger and leveled his plasma pistol, snapping off a shot at one of the Legionaires before diving behind a starter cart for one of the fighters. He knew where his cover was going to be before he entered, and that there would be two other servants of the Emperor likewise sheltering behind it.

The the shot struck home on his target as he hit the floor and was already skidding to a stop behind the cart. Rising to his knees, he looked at the two hanger crewmen in front of him.

"Are you Emperor-fearing men?" he asked calmly.
