Too bad I can't get a copy of MacOS 8.1 for free. Only 7.5.3 is free, methinks. And I fucking hate Hotline

Conquest is fun. Especially when I realied the Moash territory is entirely protected by Abominations.

Every Moash planet responded only with Abomination heavy fighters when I attacked with Scarabs. Haven't tested the others. Granted, it's a 120 Abominations a planet, but.

I used a plugin to reset the game after I finished a SP campaign. Thus, I am flying the Unrelenting.

I think the Abominations are a side effect of finishing the Polaris campaign.

Phongn, do you really need the range on those 200mm? I find the 100mm are more effienct space-wise, but with slightly shorter range. Found that out when I had 4 of them on a mod Starbridge. ;)
Actually, while I was shopping at the start of the game, I coudlnt' work out why the pirate starbridge was better. I've never seen the stats for the mod pirate, tho.

AM I the only Nova player who's flying around in the Kestrel Of Doom?

Then again...I use plugins to include missions, ships, and weapons/outfits not included with the original game...which would explain my nigh-impenetrable cloaking ship of giant fiery turret death...
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Head to www.evula.com and they have the stats for all ships as of version 1.06.

This may be a stupid question, but is there a way to buy this program without a credit card?

Hey thanks! :D Has anyone played with the plug-in builder stuff? I'm bored with the standard game (and I'm not even that far in) and was wondering how much you can change it without major surgery.

Am I the only one who feels its all a bit worthless since there's no multi? I was sorely disappointed, and started thinking about all the time I wasted... and so did my other half :/ lol Its super-fun ('most fun ever'), but without multi, whats the point? You can't brag about your empire, or start a shipping company, or run off and hide in a corner until your asteroid miner has 500M and come back and surprise everyone. :(

And frickin UN shipping gave me 100K near the start for making them the only trans-empire shipping company! WTF??? Thats gratitude for you!

Hmmmm..... I was able to conquer both Aurora and Sol on my first tries using only an upgraded Scarab. Took awhile though, espically with Sol.

What I do is park my other 6 scarabs (nik'something) quite away from the planet, and tell them to engage and tell the planet to surrender. With 80 multitorps each I can usually wipe a single Auroran planet in one or two trips (two if I want pure torps, or one if I want to risk it and go in with lasers after they've run out). With a Fed planet it's not so easy, usually it's better to go away and return, and still it takes me 3-4 trips to wipe their fleet (about twice as much for Sol).

If I decide to attack with lasers, I have to constantly check the shield level of my 6 escorts, and leave as soon as one gets dangerously low. If one dies I'll rather self-destruct and reload. Also it's a good idea to go to the opposite edge of the system that your escorts are on (tell them to wait there) because this usually makes all the little fighters try to kill you, and since they're faster than the big boys, they're usually farther away from the escorts and they don't waste so many torpedoes on them.

Anyone else noticed how your escorts send their fighter squadrons to attack your enemies only ONCE!? That really sucks. It's like, they launch, go and kill the first thing they find, then just return to their ships and hover around them harmlessly

Another bug seems to be that you can't replenish the original amount of torpedoes your Scarab came with... if you fire your torpedoes (40 for the Original Scarab, 80 for the Extra-Crispy) you can't buy that same amount... I think the game capped me at about 10 or so

Same if you sell the multitorp launcher, you can only buy back one, instead of the original 2. That's why usually I sell the damn thing from the start and let my escorts fire theirs because they get refreshed for free anyway every time we land.

I have a slightly different strategy, which involves a few minor facts :

1) The defense fleet would chase you to anywhere in the system, despite usually being much slower than you.

2) Each planet only has six ships (not including fighters in bays) in space at any one time.

3) New ships always launch at the planet.

You mean stand next to the planet and blast every ship with lasers as they come? I do that but it's a bit unreliable, and usually I end up losing one or two escorts, because they totally fuck up their target tracking.

BTW: laser + autopilot = great autotargeting

Purely out of curiousity, has anyone tried running this Windows port under WINE?
