I'm gonna note again. Spending small amounts of starship points is close to worthless. For instance, Alyrium, I note you are spending 4 escort points for spies and assassins- so little that it's effectively not going to give your intelligence agencies any real advantage in the field. Everyone take note- advantages purchased cheaply will be worth what you paid for them, no more.

Quick question, what's your average, garden-variety Light-years/hour speed for a hyperdrive? Haven't decided how the Sixth gets around yet, but I need an average speed to base things off until I do. Thanks

Bad idea anyway. Spreading your forces like that will just get you taken apart. The point of putting the great waste on the map is to make sure that people don't think "Oooh! Empty space! I automatically triple the size of my territory!"
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Spending capital points to be worth much extra seems a bit excessive to me. Seems to me that spending a capital point on anything less than an entire corps would simply hit any reasonable upper limit and would suffer diminishing returns, not to speak of multiple capital points.Thirdfain wrote:I'm gonna note again. it is a matter of spending more than nothing my friend. And seriosly... for someone who is supposed to not be seen, diminishing returns are gong to kick in pretty damn quick.Thirdfain wrote:I'm gonna note again. Your budgets for those branches are going to be no more than 5% greater or so. Expect no significant tangible advantages.it is a matter of spending more than nothing my friend. And seriosly... for someone who is supposed to not be seen, diminishing returns are gong to kick in pretty damn quick.
To double the effectiveness of your army- to make a Regional's army equivelent to a Grand's, or a Minor's equivelent to a Regional's, you'd need to spend more than half your capital points. This precedent is firmly established, based on mod rulings from STGOD4 in which Monacora, played by Straha, fielded a power with a very weak navy but an excellent army.
So how many points would one need to noticeably improve something?
Maybe you should assign ground troop points as well? as in you get 40 pts, and you can spread it around various services, so you could spend 10 points on logistics but then you wouldn't have 10 pts to spend on something else...
Work along that guideline. Spenging only 4 escort points will get you very little.

Boyd Space covered most of the galaxy, and the Boyd Collective had a quite serious meltdown. Halite's invasion also trashed quite a good portion, mostly around SKS space.Beowulf wrote:EDIT: oh, and I don't think the Great Waste should be quite as large. Most of the core, certainly. Around where there were major installations like New Holywood, Yarmuk, etc, certainly. Most of the galaxy? No.
But I'll tweak it a bit.
Edit: Here's the updated map (81kb)
I fragmented the Great Waste to make it coincide more with the past major STGOD invasions. Also added a few more powers and moved some around a bit. I'm leaving the old powers on the map just for reference; they can (I guess) be considered to still exist, it's just that nobody controls them much like the Gorn and Klingons.

Though I think because of the state of the Galaxy, with so many places blown to hell, Hyperspace travel should be rather dangerous. Mostly down a dozen or two well defined hyperspace lanes. The older powers probably knowing more secret routes that are safe.Thirdfain wrote:SW-level. We are looking at a day's travel to cross the entire galaxy.

Either that, or take above/below-elliptic courses, maybe taking a couple days, but circumventing the nastyness in between.

By the same issue though, space is 3D. Just to get OUT of the Galaxy you have to try and move through the whole mess thats leftover. I would expect travel down known hyperlanes to be a day or so to cross the Galaxy, but despite the best efforts of the Governments, pirates with highly illegal interdiction technology raid them.White Haven wrote:Either that, or take above/below-elliptic courses, maybe taking a couple days, but circumventing the nastyness in between.
Or you could slowly claw your way up and out, but this shuold have a penalty of 2-3-4-5 times longer or so.

At leats at first. be interesting to have a network of up and downlanes plotted here and there for extraelliptic travel. It's a thought to look into once we go IC.
