Actually the gate DOES survive, it's just that it's forever stuck in the center of the star emitting gravity. Ergo it's completly useless, and is EFFECTLY distroyed.

Naturally. Defenses of that power can't be allowed; shields and guns are only there to delay an advance long enough for a fleet to sortie to the relief.

Actually, it can, but it's limited to one size class increase. So a hobbit could turn into a human, and so on. The limit for decrease is to Diminutive. So you can turn a human-sized creature into a horse or hill giant sized creature (long and tall)

Well, Meteor Crater was a piddling 4 megatons of kinetic energy, travelling at a slow 40,000 MPH. It created a hole 550 feet down, 2.4 kilometers around.

I think a Heavy Cruiser with relativistic speed landing on a city would make a much bigger hole, don't you?

True. I also think a penetrator railgun shell traveling at, say, .2c would do a number on your little tunnel setups if that's the case.
