Fold drive speeds are way down since there's so much crap left over in terms of spatial anomolies and whatnot from the war that one has to be careful when folding and take your time doing it. Warp and B5-hyperspace are slow if useful; SW hyperdrive has the aformentioned problem with good hyperlanes being few and far between.

A not inconsiderable part of the SKS's military and militia is dedicated to guarding the trade lanes between her three segments and selected other routes (that is, to the UTR and Kzinti; the CorpSec and TSC being serviced through the UTR)

Also, a large part of the CorpSec Defense Force is devoted to escorting shipments. We tend to do bulk shipments with huge haulers, and the escorts are nothing to sneeze at.

Plus the haulers themselves are armed. It lowers the insurance premiums anyway ;)

By the way, I'm thinking about putting some trade routes on the map. Any suggestions?

Aside from the obvious huge junction of tradelanes centered on BFE-007 *ducks* :) nothing, don't have enough experience with the universe to say.

A noteable one would be the new Commonwealth lanes going from the Commonwealth to Ambrosia to the Azegart Empire, ending at Corneria- the line from the Eastern Rim to the UTR and the Commonwealth.

Why does the resolution on the map suck so bad? I can barely read the labels; some are totally illegible.

That location used to be (before the Fall or whatever) a part of the UTR and before that the SCEF. It's been settled by humans for quite a long time (< 20,000 years or so) so you may want to amend your backstory a little bit.

Also, that was right in the path of the Halite invasion, so that area's pretty torn up although not as bad as the nearby Perseus and Cygnus Arms.

*shrugs* I meant more as in the backstory, since that hasn't been empty space forever. In other words, your families can probably trace their roots to the UTR if they go back enough.

Anyway, here's my updated map. As for resolution, I scaled it down less (original size is 1600x1600). Mind you, that means it's nearly 200k...

I'll just leave it at this, it's a war torn piece of space, history and things have been lost to time. And not that it's any big deal, but isn't that a rather small chunk of space for a major power?

Well.... as a benchmark, you've got 36 major worlds and I don't know how many colonies/mining worlds. Your space as it is on the map now is about 3,000 LY across, so you have quite a lot of space (I think I was actually a little too generous with space before...but that was fine back when everybody had huge powers). Look at it this way, you're not much smaller than the nearby Corporate Sector (with ~50 major worlds and a buttload of mining stations).

If it's still too small, I can always enlarge it.

Mind you, the comparison I'm using is, well... other nations. I'm seeing a lot of regional powers with bigger circles on the map and going "now how can that be?" Not that having a small chunk of space is a bad thing, but as for game mechanics, shouldn't I have to defend more space than smaller powers (this, of course, being the down side to a major power).

A note - I just occured to me that I might have too few major worlds?
Another note - I can't make out the difference between a Major and Minor hyperspace lane...

Rather across the galaxy from what I had in mind, but at least I don't have to deal with everything being an absolute wreck around me. *Shrug*

Hrm... If nobody minds, I think I'm going to try and trim the major and minor powers down proportionally to how many planets they've declared. Things are a bit absurdly large...

Though I do think that my position is a tad unlikely given the stellar geography of the Republic; I'm in an open star cluster. It'd be in a denser region of stars in all likelihood. And hell, I could be in the Waste; I've had half my core worlds, including two of my three major military planets, destroyed through unspecified means and my people have been oppressed by unspecified foreign imperial occupiers up until the end of either the ASVS STGOD or STGOD2, whichever one wrecked the major imperialist grand powers in the region. So, I'd like to repeat my earlier request to be located in the denser stellar region of the Norma Arm, northwest of the Knights Templar and south of HAB.

But one isn't forced to use "hyperlanes"? Especially when using a fold drive system that seems absurd.

Rogue: you've been moved. And shrunken a little bit to make things more proportional.

Dahak: You aren't forced to use hyperlanes unless you use a more or less linear FTL system like hyperspace, warp, etc. Nonlinear drive speed is probably still affected by all the disturbances, supernovae, black holes, and other assorted junk left over from the wars so it's not terribly great either.

Updated map, version 3

As it just crossed my mind: how do we handle interdiction?
Just like in the last one?

Edited my ORBAT, now have absolutely no batleships, used three points to increase fixed fighter defenses, and 1 addtional expendable fighter supercarrier.

Switched the superpowered nuisance points into specops, I think 100 escort and 4 cruiser points should produce some sort of noticeable improvement.
