The Emperor was rather taken aback, but like a trained statesman he didn't let it show.
"Naturally we would be happy to share our history and current affairs data with you. It's a rather long and detailed subject but we would be happy to provide you with our library databases."
The Emperor smiled.
"As for your offer of a treaty and an allaince, we would be happy to discuss terms. Please feel free to speak your mind on the subject and we will extend you the same courtesy."

"We have those models on our fighters and Heavy weapons. However, these are designed so anyone can use it accuratly to defend their ships. We actually have that sort of interface on our Heavy Plasma Cannon display which is next door. "
It was ok... the holo booth was designed to take that kind of punishment.
"If you wish, I can turn up the difficulty, and the simulated defense grid can take on a missile volley from a few of our missile destroyers..."

"...But where is the stick of joy?" The redhaired one asked, confused. "You... The other two had disengaged and come to join in stares. "Even the mightiest of warriors would wear down after a few missile volleys! It is madness! We will find others who equip more sensibly!" The last sentence was said loudly, leaving no room for complaint.. Publically. The two younger ones quietly sniped at each other over their scores as the three walked away, searching for the food court.

There were about thirty of them, wrapped in glowing platemail and scaly skin. Each one carried a long, runed silver sword. They moved through the zero-g slowly, gliding serenely down the broad cooridor. The viewpoint was clearly that of an Inishan Floater marine's combat mask- words in freespeak scrolled down the side of the image, and a crosshairs settled onto the head of the lead Arcanist Mageblade. The weapon was clearly smart, wired into the helmet's systems.
"Hiss" went the Fletcher, as it's magnets hurled the 3-round burst.
"Crack" went the air, as they broke the sound barrier.
"Bang" went the Mageblade's face as the rounds detonated inside his skull, spraying gobbets of meat into the air.
The Mages lept into action, moving forewards at astonishing speeds, even as a sound like cloth tearing filled the hall as a crew-served Fletcher opened up, turning the first lwave into so much chopped meat before an Arcane Arrow turned the concealed gun position into a burning hell.
The crosshairs settled rapidly onto the breastplate of a charging Mageblade, and jittered wildly as the Floater fired a long, controlled burst. rounds sparked on the Mage's protection-spells, and the Floater shouted a stream of earwilting curses in a surprisingly shrill female voice.
The Mage kept coming, and the view shook violently for a second, skewed, and then righted itself- on the Mage, tumbling, bubbles of blood and pulverized bone leaking from a dozen pinholes in his armor.
The image righted, and showed chaos- The Mages were locked in combat with a dozen Floaters, and the hall was full of bodies- mostly in the plate of Mageblades and the leather of Arcane Archers. 'Blades swung their swords in fast, powerful blows, but tumbled uncontrollably in the zero-g. A floater, his Fletcher smashed, lept from a wall, tumbling through the mess, drawing his Gropener back and forth in controlled, concise arcs punctuated by puffs of exhaust from the weapon's thruster tip. Two mages stared stupidly as their lower bodies floated away, detached neatly from their torsos.
The Floaters were now in full retreat- Orders in freespeak called for them to fall back, as more and more Arcanists were coming. The woman whose combat records were being shown turned, her eyes and the crowd's taking in the squads of Mages advancing down the hall in a hail of arrows. A strange, insectoid something was in front of them, absorbing fletcher rounds in astonishing numbers.
That was when it happened- like a pillar of surreally bright sun-fire, the Hellthrower's spray reached out from the armored Floater who was covering the retreat. A dozen bodies literally exploded, their watery bodies turning instantly to steam under the intense plasma. The viewplate polarized automatically, dampening the glow.
When it faded, the Arcanist advance was in full retreat. At least here, the defenders of Inisha had earned another few minute's respite.

"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a demonstration of what Inishan weapons can do. This footage was taken from the cameras of brave bondmen and women, during an Arcanist attack three months ago. Bidding will begin an hour before tonight's dinner on the concourse." Freewoman Kyle El-Riyadj smirked. "Or, of course, you can go next door and purchase some Draconis weapons...."

For sale:
Inishan Gunsmithy EM-22 Fletcher: Anti-infantry weapon, effective against armoured and unarmoured targets. Uses electromagnetic propulsion to fire hundreds of needle-sized flechettes at high speeds. The weapon's electronics cause the rounds to detonate inside the target, after peircing armor, causing extreme internal damage. Single-man portable. Lacks the sophisticated targetting devices of Zarathrustran and Kharamite weapons, but easy to use and repair.
Inishan Gunsmithy EMS-42 Hyperfletcher: Anti-infantry weapon, effective against armoured and unarmoured targets. Crew-served version of EM-22. Larger rounds, longer barrel (higher velocity rounds, more accuracy.) Triple barrels, to avoid overheating. Requires 3-man crew (gunner, loader, power operator.) Effective against aircraft and light vehicles.
Inishan Gunsmithy EML-9a Longbow: Longbarrel sniper-rifle variant. Extremely high velocity, fires in 5-needle bursts. Can penetrate light vehicle armor. Effective range, 2 miles. Comes with active/passive targetting sensors, surveillance drone (10 pounds, propeller propulsion), and bipod.
Inishan Gunsmithy EMG-2 Jazzer: Multipurpose autogrenade launcher. Uses electromagnetic propulsion to fire minigrenades from a clip, 480 RPM. HEAP and HEAT rounds available. Single-man portable.
Sun-Tzu Experiments Hellthrower Mk. 2: Plasma weapon, short range, high power. Requires backpack-mounted power and fuel source, effective against armored infantry, soft targets, and heavy armor (tanks, other vehicles) at short ranges. Used like a flamethrower. Single-man portable. Dangerous temperatures and weight, user must wear power armor.
Sun-Tzu Experiments Gropener Mk. 5: Melee weapon. Uses microjets and a vibrating powerblade blade to cut through even heavy armor very rapidly, excellent for cramped zero-G boarding actions.
Sun-Tzu Experiments Razorwhip Mk. 3: Short range weapon. Monofilament wire-whip 4 meters long with microthruster cluster on end for control in zero-G. useful against light power armor or unarmored targets, terror weapon. Excellent for boarding actions.

General Products Hme Security: Defending Your Home, Defending Your Future
GeneralProduts had built a mock up of two modern homes. A house, and an apartment. optimized for human dwelling.
House Model
A home with typical whilte picket fence, 2 levels, a mother father and 2.3 kids. And surrounded by a low level shield. I was enough to stop small arms fire and stop unauthorized entry.
Also featured were severl tesla coils affectionatly called "Bug Zappers" and lawn ornaments featuring anti-personel PPGs, as well as armor piercing lazer cannons.
The demo was done, though with holographic enemies... as they bombarded the shield with things that were stronger than the shield could shrug off without damage, the asailents were blasted into oblivion b the "bug zappers" and lazers.
"No one will ever burglarize your hoe or threaten your children again. So long as you have the Mark Five House Security System. Even if the city looses power you will be protected for several hours due to the fact that it has a built in capacitor."
The Apartment Model not only featured an outer wall hugging shield to prevent external damage, but also one around windows, balconies, and the front and balcony doors.
It also featured a repulsorlift incase the building collapsed.
Inside was where the fun begins. Insie was a ray sheld that would defend against laser fire, and a targeting computer for the ceiling mounted laser cannons. All fed by a capacitor. It would take a while to charge up, but when it was, the apartment could be defended until the city power went out, and for several hours afterward.
The crowd grew.

Elville spread his hands in a gesture of appreciation.
"If my manner seems abrupt it is only because I have never been one for pomp and ceremony; and, further, while this event occasions other, more personal reactions, I have been instructed to pursue the orders of my emperor with all due alacrity. I will have my men download your libraries - information on the current political situation being, obviously, of considerable value (OOC: So, um, where exactly does Asgard stand in the current order of things?). That aside...
The treaty I recieved from the Emperor was in rough form only, but it carried several key sections. First, our raw minerals are lacking. If we could, perhaps, import some of whatever surplus you might have at some sort of discount, we would be willing to grant several trading concessions in our territory to Asgardian interests. Second, our military, while well-trained, has never fought a major war. I assume that your men, being in a position where there may actually be some sort of enemy, would be somewhat more battle-hardened. The Emperor suggests joint training sessions with your troops - at whatever, reasonable price you care to name.
Third, and again, most importantly, the Emperor suggests a treaty of military alliance and eternal friendship between our two nations."

The Emperor smiled, he was known as man some what less than patient with unnessary ceremony himself. In fact, some of the cases had reached the point of political legend.
"As a point of fact, at the current time the Asgard stand in good stead through out most of Known Space. Currently we are allied formally with the Monacorans, they are probably our clostest allies at the moment. At the moment we are also opening up ties, ones we hope will be fruitful, with the Alliance. Our independence of action right now remains precious to us. As for the rest of the galaxy, we have had few enough dealings but most of them pleasant enough. Really, the only present source of difficulty is likely to be the Ousters, their invasions of our daughter colonies sits ill. But have reached several understandings with them that improved that particular situation."
"I don't mean to dull you with our politics. The only other thing of note was our recent policy action aginst the PIR. And that was, all in all, a remarkably little affair. As to your materials desire, we can easily trade you what we can in surplus raw materials we have. It is not inconsiderable given recent expansions in our operations pool. As to the second, we would be happy to help train your military. Further more, we might be able to arrange mutual exercises with the Monacorans who have one of the best armies in known space. All we ask in return, is something I believe you are already after, a treaty stating our nations commitment to mutual defense. In short, we promise to come to another's aid and protection if attacked by an agressor nation. Is that what you had in mind? "

Ravenlock Arms Fair, Ark Sector
The leader of the Nashtari Defense Systems delegation glanced over at the Floater and Draconis displays and let out a chuckle as he turned to his fellows. "Fred, start up the holo. Rocket-launching lawn gnomes my ass, wait'll the naval powers get a load of this." Fred grinned and started the display.
It was old footage of a weapons test at the Nashtari test range at Gamma-327, made twenty years before when the Cascade platform was still the height of defensive platforms, before the advent of the Torrent stations that had so completely supplanted the Cascade design in the Core Systems... but were not exported. With the almost total phaseout of the Cascade design (the last one was still in service was at Joyous Gard, the outer colony defense center), the export of the station was permitted to allow the shipyards to get use out of the dies and assembly lines for it. The test was against an old Liberty class battlecruiser, a design which had flopped because of the inherent flaws in the battlecruiser concept; a battleship's gun battery with a cruiser's armor. Too large to build in large quantities like cruisers, they still died like light cruisers in combat, never mind their punch. As the test against the derelict proved.
The holovid view panned across the bright Nashtari starfield, with the Lion Nebula clearly visible and very large in the background. The battlecruiser came into view first, followed by two Cascade platforms. The battlecruiser's guns fired a salvo first, on automatic fire, at one of the stations, the unmanned one. The armor was pitted, but though some of the holes ran two or three meters deep, no penetration was in evidence. Then the stations fired.
The SMACs had been experimental at the time, and this was one of the first successful tests of the design. It was well worth the development. The unshielded battlecruiser took 8 shells weighing a good 50 tons each traveling at .2c. It disintegrated. The once-mighty ship was laid low, its 2.5 meter plating torn like aluminum foil and left bent up out of the holes, its thickness plain to see, and its uselessness against the gigantic guns even plainer. Then, while the SMACs underwent their long reloading process, the normal heavy MACs on the stations went to work on smaller practice targets, shredding old scrap-packed cargo containers and cratering large asteroids. It was impressive to behold. A test of the point defenses was also made, first with drone fighters simulating an attack, and then with missile salvos (the missiles with dummy warheads). The drones, while admittedly not making the same evasive maneuvers and jinking that a normal pilot would have, were still mostly destroyed with what had been remarkable alacrity at the time, but was an average performance by modern standards. Much the same followed with the missiles; out of 25 launched at the station, 21 were shot down by point defense before impact. The SMACs were reloaded about one and a half minutes after the initial firing and were immediately fired again against a five kilometer asteroid that had been pitted a little by practice shots, but had been mostly left alone.
The asteroid was broken in two by the massive impacts, its two main pieces spinning away trailing smaller chunks behind them. Then the recording ended.
The demonstration would be repeated every half hour. The team didn't spend a lot of time hawking; they would be wasting their time. Buyers with the money, trust level of the Nashtari government, and inclination to buy their stations would make up too small a part of the milling customers. And such people, if they were present, would come to them. Datapads detailing available quantity, prices, and the relevant Nashtari laws on the sale of the stations were made available to all who asked.

A representative of the Draconis Republic military walked over to the Nashtari displays.
"They need shields and an upgraded defense grid, but that can be done easily enough.
They will come in handy for defending coloney worlds. How much per unit?"

The man addressed by the Draconian smiled, though he was careful not to show too many teeth; he remembered his brother in the Navy telling him about how they considered it a threat display. "The test footage predates the advent of shielding in Nashtar. I assure you, the stations are fully shielded now. The relevant information is here," he said, handing over a datapad, one designed for draconian hands. This development hadn't been unanticipated. "You will find capability figures and basic station layouts on this datapad. We are not licensing rights to produce the design outside the Nashtar Cluster as of now, but we are happy to sell a limited quantity of the stations. You see, these were part of a trade deal with the Psilon Imperium that fell through, which is the only reason we're here to sell. The Nashtari government has also expressed some interest, even though they were busily decommissioning these a few years ago. Sign of how the times have changed, I suppose."
The datapad holds this information on the station, in addition to a simple floor schematic. Full design parameters are not included.
Cascade Orbital Defense Platform
Dimensions: 300x200 meter rectangle, 50 meters “tall”
Power plant: 2 heavy fusion reactors, station keeping thrusters only
Armament:
4 SMACs
25 heavy MACs
Comprehensive CIWS
Shielding:
4 Rayon shield generators receiving almost all reactor output
Description:
An old, but still highly capable, design, mostly retired in the Republic in favor of the Torrent platform. One is still in service at Joyous Gard, a testament to the long-term viability of the design at frontier defense. 4.5 meters of armor cover the station, providing excellent protection even in the absence of shields. Though originally designed without shields, shield generators have since been incorporated into the station and in the absence of the power-draining engines present on a warship, these generators draw a much greater percentage of the station's reactor power, providing greater protection than the same shield arrangement on a spacegoing vessel. These stations are rated as a viable combatant against ships of heavy cruiser or battlecruiser size and smaller. Not capable of standing against multiple ships or against battleships or dreadnoughts by itself; best used in conjunction with a defensive fleet.

A bit further down the display area, Orodan General Shipping had set up shop. Their main showcase was an array of civilian-application space stations, part of the same fallen-through deal with the Psilons that had Nashtari Defense Systems here. Their display was much less flashy than the 3D holovid of the weapons test; instead they had displays showing the usefulness of the modular design of the stations, showing them outfitted as living quarters, research labs, biocontainment facilities, orbital traffic control, and a host of other civilian uses, made possible thanks to the modular hardpoints, and even more capable due to the custom extra hardpoints ordered by the Psilons in their specifications. There were also bulk freighters for sale, which, though unarmed, came with an option for discounted arming prices due to OGS's partnership with Nashtari Combined Arms. Beyond that, there was a wide array of ships from small yachts to large container ships, with everything from fast light freighters to boxy ore haulers. Representatives, engineers all and expert in their fields, stood by each display, prepared to explain the functions and uses of the ships that most of them had helped design or build.

Ravenlock Trade Fair
Sven Straasgard walked through the throng of people cluttering this trade fair.
His job was to assess the other nations and what they did sell. The Grand Empire herself did not send any weapons or technology to sell. It would only give too much information away. The only way someone would observe a Gladseim weapon system was in battle against it. But it was nice that others allowed them to check the potential threats of the other nations.
The Dragons especially irked him. They were terrible eager to sell their system.
Veitha
Crown Prince Jorm was bored. But Mother thought it was still prudent to stay on Veitha, as a show of flag, so to speak. He still waited for the Ravenlock Director to send the draft treaty, and in the meantime, he had nothing in particular to do.
He tried all the sports possibilities there were, and the yellow press started to feature him in ever broadening depth, something he did like very much. Though the concept of newspapers and agencies still was something stange to him. Poor people, not having access to all information instantly...
Clubbing was particularly interesting, as well. Veithans, despite outward appearance, seemed to be a partying nation. An he had to admit, some were very good looking. Not on Gladsheim-level of perfection, but the guys and girls were something special.
His Chief of Staff was particularly displeased with his high-frequency night visits. But what to do when bored?
Gladsheim Prime
<<Status?>> The Empress asked.
<<We have made some promising breakthrough with our compensators. We can get an 12 to 15% increased acceleration tolerance out of them. We are currently fitting them in the ships.>>
<<Nice,>> Admiral Farshaw interjected. <<What about the fighters?>>
<<We are working on reducing the rad output of the Hauptmann coils for them, so we can increase their top speed. Luckily, we don't need to bother with accel in inertialess drives...>>
<<Any news from weapons?>>
<<So, and so,>> Consenus answered. <<We might be able to increase missile range by a bit, and there is a rather promising new gravitonic warhead in development.>>
<<Well, keep it up, then.>>

"Ten minutes, maybe a tad more. It's really simple, we go in you can make a speach if you'd like, sign the treaty, answer a few questions, have a photo-shoot, leave. Dinner later on inside the palace, with a few VIPs, and that's it. Securtiy detail is trippled and the published itinerary is so far off that no one will even know if you're on planet. So, can I get you anything to eat or drink?"Stormbringer wrote: "Tea would be fine, please." She smiled. "I do wonder how much time we have until the formal ceremony?"
The Princess-Heir simply waited patiently in the office. The varegies of political and diplomatic meeting were no stranger to her. This was actually shaping up to be a rather pleasant occasion.

The HMS Aurora brought her impeller wedge up, accelerating to a lesuirely cruise towards earth. Behind her, a pair of long-range LACs exited hyper, and tailed the Aurora, scanners probing space for signs of any threat. Minutes later, the Aurora entered Earth orbit, and opened a channel.
"Monocoran flight control, this is the HMS Aurora, requesting permission to launch a smallcraft to Earth's surface. Diplomatic Code 1E-88."
Inside the palace an aide slipped the prince a note. After perusing it he turned on his intercom.
"Sumner, new contact coming down, first meeting in too long a time. Deal with it please."

Earth orbit, Monocoran space
A pinnance dropped from the Aurora, and glided down swiftly through the atmosphere, a pair of LACs tailing it. The pinnance came down over the Royal Palace, and set down gracefully on the landing pad along with the LACs. A ramp slid open, and out marched a dozen Marines in dress uniform, ceremonial rifles in hand. Then came Countess Tyrel and 3 of her advisors. The Countess stood patiently, waiting for a Monocoran escort.

The treaty was written up and sent to the Crown Prince’s staff within a matter of hours. The time since then was spent hammering out details on the matter. The Director’s own staff was told to hurry, he had some business to take care of on Monacora that was long overdue. The Veithans would have to wait on that press conference.

Robert Elville smiled. "That appears to be a perfectly satisfactory arrangement. Your friends shall be as our friends; your enemies shall be our enemies."Further more, we might be able to arrange mutual exercises with the Monacorans who have one of the best armies in known space. All we ask in return, is something I believe you are already after, a treaty stating our nations commitment to mutual defense. In short, we promise to come to another's aid and protection if attacked by an agressor nation. Is that what you had in mind? "

Shortly thereafter the Emperor arrived in Asgard space; there was much pomp and fanfare, celebration in both empires, and a good deal of talk, discussion, and negotiation. But in the end the terms laid out to Robert Elville were agreed upon, and the Nyllorian Empire began to take its place in the wider world.
The imperial beaucracy, spurred on by personal directives from the Emperor himself, drastically rerouted all diplomatic and science vessels in imperial possession to map out this new region of space. Diplomats were send to all the powers in the area as the Empire attempted to integrate itself into its new surroundings. Soon, Nyllorian light vessels began a somewhat common sight in the major ports of Known Space as scientists, diplomats, cultural specialists and technicians were whisked around as fast as their starships could carry them. Troop divisions and warships were dispatched to Asgard according to an established timetable for training; Monacoran representatives were contacted about the possibility of joint exercises. Many a camel was sacrified to Jalyn.
