I know that for low level Matches on Province, when you get spawn 1 that you should rush up your hill. I also had the 50mm cannon and used the hill/buildings and such to minimize taking hits. The Luch isn't the best tank, but I drove it like I stole it and got lucky.

I also try to drive like I'm going to die anyway. If I can survive that's aces, if I can kill 2 guys first and then get nailed by arty that's how the game goes.

That reminds me of our recent trip to Las Vegas, where we went to a shooting range again. This time, after considerable cajoling, the boys and I managed to get Rebecca to overcome her antipathy for firearms and take a few shots with an M9 handgun. She had no interest in doing it, but I pointed out that it's cheap and easy in Las Vegas, and we don't know when we're going back, so she reluctantly agreed.

First time in her life holding a gun, she squeezes off 10 shots. Every one of them is tightly grouped in the small circle on the target. The range instructor actually took a step back and said "Wow, she's a natural".

The gun on the top of its turret is a pretty big weak spot. I was able to penetrate it 3 times in a row with a 175 pen gun.

Double credits for the VK3001(h) and the Easy 8, too. Of course, I have the VK3001(p) and the Jumbo.

I don't have either of those yet and even with bonus experience I doubt I'll make it to them anyway.

Just got the VK 3601. For some reason it was discounted to 350,000 yesterday, so I sold the elited PZ IV I had and snapped it up. Pleased so far, but it moves like a dying Hutt and the intro guns are frustrating at best. got the better turret and put in my long 75 but am struggling to figure out how to play it, especially when I am lowest tier. It doesnt have the armour to survive or the speed to flank.

Also swapped the T 49 for the French Lor 39 (Tier III arty) and I gotta say, the thing's a blast. almost as fun as the SU-26 with a competent team. Insane range, 300 damage usually, and quick aiming. only problem is the long flight time and small explosive radius.
have any of you guys tried it?

Victory!
Battle: Live Oaks 18 August 2012 06:52:38
Vehicle: VK 3601 (H)
Experience received: 5,502 (x3 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 37,962
Battle Achievements: Steel Wall, Top Gun

The 3601 is a odd machine. When fully upgraded, it's pretty much the universal tank. Not quite a medium, not quite a heavy, but pretty damn effective at anything you happen you point it at. Gun wise, either the 75/L70 or 88/L56 are pretty good. If you want to drop money on the konisch, it suddenly becomes the Bane of All Tanks.

For now, play it as a heavy until you get stuff for it.

I had one, but have since moved up that line. I did like it though, little bastard hit like a truck, and could hide practically anywhere, and was hard to hit even if it was spotted because it was so small.

Note: The next tank up the line, the AMX 105 AM, can take vents.

Now I've gotten the Main Gun for the JagdPanther II, I can begin to learn how to play the damn thing.

It's proving... interesting. The tiny superstructure is made of the same grade of fuck you as the Ferdi, but the much, much larger expanse of hull is made of paper. The said tiny superstructure does give it a cripplying small amount of gun traverse that means you can't angle the hull to actually stop the shells going through.

On the other hand, it can hit 45 easily, has more turning than the Panther II and now I've got Clutch Braking, the damn thing can dance. It's even managed to make the horrifying 128 actully useful, by being both T8 and at about 2 RPM more than the E75. With some decent support, it's pretty monstrous, capable of supporting an advance and schooching around to resposition at will. I think it's a keeper.

Heh, the A-20 has been surprisingly fun this time around!

I only got a few battles in, but I managed to be such a menace to people. Last time I slipped through a hole in enemy defences and ganked their arty so hard they started screaming NOOB A-20 at me and threatening me with reports :P

I always enjoyed my A-20, because I treated it as a sort of crewed, mechanized battering ram. Crashing the A-20 into things is usually faster and more damaging than shooting at them.

I've played the beta for a long time but grew tired of it once it was released. However, I've reinstalled it to give it the give the French tree a try. Do they have any particular weaknesses/strenghts I should know about?

Low tier french tanks are broadly slow, undergunned and made of a blend of impervium and adamantium.

Higher tier french tanks are made of the finest Gallic paper, travel quickly and are armed with autoloading cannons. Can't really speak for the TD/Arty trees.

They take a bit of getting used to and are in general strange and, for want of a better word, French.

The ELC AMX is very entertaining; like a sports car with an antitank gun bolted to the roof. Think of it as the world's fastest light tank destroyer and you won't go far wrong.

The 38nA was honestly better than the ELC in all but one way, the ELC mounts a better gun.

Ironically the Renault FT sucks but all its derivatives are great. The French have access to some of the best SPGs in the game including probably the best starting SPG the Renault BS. Their first TD is also fantastic, the line gets a little weak near the middle though.

Tiers four and six on the French TD line are unbearably bad. The four is an unarmored, large Hetzer, and tier six is a large unarmored pile of junk with a high pen gun that takes a month to aim in and has such a narrow arc you need to lead your enemy with your hull just so that when your gun aims in the enemy is in your firing arc. Good times.

I enjoy the ELC much more because of the better gun- I feel like I'm having a real impact on the battle when I can score penetrating hits on Tier VII and up vehicles, even if I often die before scoring more than one or two of them.

Gunpower is a really big factor in the qualitative experience of a tank, I think. Few things are more frustrating than a long string of bounces against a target you feel like you ought to be able to damage; few things are more satisfying than a long string of damaging hits.

I could've sworn the ELC is much more maneuverable than the 38nA. I don't see 38nAs surviving active lighting runs.

Having an insanely low profile makes the ELC a much more survivable proposition. You can use pretty much any crease in the terrain as cover.

Also, put a camo net on it. It won't help you on the move, but when you find a hidey-hole and set up to fire it should help a lot.

I've been trying to work up the gumption to work through the AMX line, bc the B1 B2 looks frustrating, but I keep stalling out at the AMX 40. Is there any good way to play the gorram thing? I kept getting out-tiered...

the T-34-85 and the VK 3601 seem to fit my playstyle pretty well though, so that's good. Got like a 90% crew on the VK. Yay!

AMX40? Just trundle towards the fire. Matchmaking is generally pretty favourable and you are survivable as hell. You'll rarely get awards (except for most hits received) but you can generally anchor a flank pretty effectively.
