We'll put the setting up for vote. To play, you don't really have to know anything. I tried to design Tensided to be realistic enough that you can apply real-life logic and get the best outcome.
frigidmagi wrote:I'll vote for fantasy, I've GMing a ShadowRun Campaign for months now. I need a fix... BAD.

Beside I got this idea for a Ranger/Monk sytle of character... A kind of wilderness Kung fu guy I guess...
That's two votes for fantasy, so far. If we end up doing that, there's a choice between a homebrew setting I've run two games in and converting Forgotten Realms, an idea we've talked about before in this thread.

Other options to consider:
More cyberpunk
Fallout
Star Wars
Hard Sci Fi
Superhero
Mafia
Horror / Supernatural
The 1,001 different varieties of Modern

I don't personally have a preference. Once we get a majority vote (3 or more), then I'll come up with a basic direction for the story I want to tell, and put out the casting call. If it's a setting I've never done before, I'll make a rough supplement after that, to be filled in later.

First choice is fantasy

My second choice is hard scifi :)
I will have to work on acceleration and such if we do that though

Screw that, Space Opera! If we have to do something Sci-fiy let's kick reality in the ass and tell it not to come back around here again.

Bah, fantasy, I'm up for something new. I vote for Superhero, as I've never played that before. As a second choice I could also go for hard sci-fi. Fantasy is a distant third. Come on, bitches, mix it up! :D

Horror/supernatural! Mixing realistic military action and lovecraft always wins! :)

I'll play anything. I've just got a soft spot for MillEnd+CoC lol

Star Wars (Or something similar) could be interesting, though the thought of having Jedi frightens me, as a Jedi invariably unbalances a game.

Core Command comes to mind, but that's the Podder in me wanting to play a Recorded Hero. :)

Superhero I'm a little leery of, since working in (and balancing) superpowers would be a difficult mix.

Are you saying you want in, then? You'll be the last person in the tent.

Anyway, if we do Star Wars and if there's a player character Jedi, it goes without saying that (s)he will be more powerful than everyone else. I don't see the lack of balance as a problem.

As for Superhero, it would be set up like this:

Every hero has a power level from 0 to 10. This power level determines what powers he can take and how far he can scale up those powers.

0 would be someone who's not a superhero, like a pursesnatcher or policeman. Can't take any powers, obviously.

1 to 2: A person who is amazing but has no actual powers (Batman, Punisher, etc.), or whose powers are not very impressive (Daredevil).

3 to 5: Most heroes. Limts for strength would be Spiderman, Quicksilver for Speed, Cyclops for destructive power.

6 to 7: Exceptionally powerful heroes. Sometimes because one of their attributes reaches absurd proportions, or simply because they're simultaneously as strong, fast, and tough as a level 5 can be. Example of the former would be Rhino, of the latter might be Spiderman or Iron Man.

8: Insanely powerful heroes like Silver Surfer and The Hulk.

9: Superman, Thanos, etc.

10: Nigh-omnipotent beings like Galactus at full strength and the Beyonder.

So that's how balance will kept if we do a superhero campaign.

As for the other one you mentioned, I don't do settings I'm not intimately familiar with.

Sounds good. I feel kind of guilty sneaking in a spot without Marcao, but he's in a WoW coma, he won't know. ;)

I'm seeing 2 for fantasy, 1 for superhero, 1 for Star Wars, 1 for modern horror, and 1 vote not yet cast. We'll need 4 votes for a majority.

I think I'll put one vote on Superhero. Haven't played anything like that in... well... ages.

Plus, I probably look absolutely stunning in spandex. :)

2 for fantasy, 2 for superhero, 1 for Star Wars, 1 for modern horror. Looks like we'll have to come to some kind of agreement. And since we'll be doing the campaign via OpenRPG, what better place to hash it out?

What timezone is everyone in, and what are your work schedules' like?

GMT +1 here. I'll see if I can have OpenRPG installed - hopefully there'll be a linux version on the site.

Provided I could do a telekinetic, I would be willing to switch my vote from fantasy to Superhero

Telekinesis is definitely an accepted power.

3 votes for Superhero, woot! Assuming no one else wants to change their vote, what say we meet Saturday on OpenRPG at around 4 pm PST (-0800 GMT) to hash it out?

As for the final session of the SDN2 Cyberpunk campaign, is everyone free to meet sometime on Sunday? I just got word of a LAN party Saturday evening, so Art and I'd like to go to that.

Superhero? Yuck, not sure I want in on this. Going to have to think about it.

Not sure what you mean. We just hop on a server (lately it's been Mature Concepts), create a password protected room (for the last campaign, it was "cyber"), and play for about 3-4 hours. We use the built in die-roller and to a lesser extent, the battle map. Are there any other useful resources that we haven't discovered?

Oh, and on a side note, it's really fucking awesome to see all this interest in Tensided. We've both (but Art, mostly) put a lot of time and effort into creating and fine-tuning the system, I'm glad to see it paying off.

Not so fast, man, we still don't have a majority vote. We can get together this weekend on OpenRPG and talk about it. We could end up doing something completely different.

But not Sunday after 6 PM PST. I have to work. And if it's a choice between the LAN party and this game, I choose this game.

If you're dead-set against it, then we won't do it. We'll talk about it more on OpenRPG.

What? Those fucking RadioShack bastards. "You don't have to work Sunday." Next day: "Oh wait, we lied, you have to work Sunday." Cockknockers.

It's a tough choice, but if you're not going, I'm not going, especially if it means missing the last session of the campaign.

So yeah, is everyone free Sunday afternoon, around 1 pm PST? *peers at Alyrium, Hotfoot, and Marcao*
