:::::Dead system, outskirts of UP space::::::::

The second and third fleets had takent up positions behind the dead moon, and were using it to shield themselves from the UP's sensors, they waited for them to come into range of the charged fusion cannons of the two fleets
"Send up drone probes, begin jamming and deploy decoys. Launch figthers."

A hundred probe drones, circular machines that were about 2 to 3 meters in diameter spread out through the system searching for the KSE fleet.

"Admiral?"

"They came here for a reason, let's find it."

On the bridge of CNS Hermes Defender, an explosion flared bright in one of the monitors as the foreward Lance succumbed to the heavy enemy fire.

"What the hell was that?"

"One of the Lances went down, sir. Others are close behind. They're taking a beating-"

"Dammit. Have them fire then pull out now."

"They're not in range yet. Close, but not quite. Half will miss."

"I don't want to lose those ships. Fire and retreat, now."

"Yes sir." Outside, the Lances fired off their guns and turned to retreat. As the missile swarm caught up, 2 more of the 8 remaining Lances exploded, another went dead.

The comm officer spoke up, "Admiral Nemo, request from Santiago. He wants you to move between him and the Draconis."

"Helm, how long until we are close enough to the Draconis to use the Lances onboard the Titans?"

"Another minute. We are gaining on them since we got that jump on them when they reformed."

"Then we turn to interpose ourselves in a minute. Start working on targeting solutions on their dreadnaughts."

Outside, the battle pitch increased as the Combine ships moved ever closer to the Draconis. More and more weapons were brought to bear, and the damage done increased on both sides. The fighters in the front lines were reenforced by those fighters abandoning their screens around the retreating Lances. Missile frigates launched another round while trying to hide in the Krell rear. Bombardment cruisers continued to pound the shield and soak up fire from the orbital guns that tried desperately to defend themselves. One bombarder died, then another and another as the shields went down. Escorts in the van of the Combine foramtion began to drop back, losing power to shields as the next missile swarm washed over them. But the Krell juggernaut continued ahead full, unleashing fires all across the Draconis formation.

6 more cruisers and 3 destroyers went dead from the onslaught.

When the lance railguns hit, 2 cruisers, and 1 missile destroyer ceased to exist.

It was all or nothing now. The enemy must be made to pay in blood for each inch of space.

Every single ship in the fleet concentrated weapons fire on enemy Titans and Dreadnoughts . All of them. The remaining 25% of energy weapons going to deal with enemy cruisers. Anther missile barage from the planet was aimed for just that purpose, and another missile storm from the fleet against cruisers was in the works, it would be able to fire in 10 seconds, 3 seconds before the titans could get in range.

Destroyers interposed themselves between ailguns lne of fire, and the dreadnoughts. As weapons fire streamed forth from the Draconis vessels..

Missiles flew, some wnt off tack, many more were intercepted.

Casualties from Monocoran heavy lasers were kept down by hulls and shields optimized for the task. But that would only work for so long.

The fleet deployed it's drones, specifically programed to take random paths and confuse the UP fleet about their launching point
Drone launches were noted and it narrowed down the search area massivly. The UP drones swarmed around the center of the system, searching, searching...

One, unit 00095, swooped around a moon on it's path to check the nearby planet. It broadcasted for 4.5 seconds before it was blown apart.

"Admiral Tzu we have contact, coordinates following."

"Proceed to missle range, maintain distance they'll attempt to slingshot, send ahead the fighters."

225 space superiority fighters and 365 interceptors scream forward cutting through the void to engage the enemy fleets ahead of the task force.

"Enemy drone sir"

"How far out are they?"

"Our drones have picked up the main fleet. It looks like they've deployed fighters to attack us."

"Cancel the slingshot manuver. Bring us into point defense formation and slaughter those fighters, then bring us out and close as rapidly as you can"

The Draconis planetside missiles were launched three seconds before the Lances fired, so they hit ten seconds after the Lances fired. These weren't kincaids after all.

4 sets of 3 lances fired, each set of three targeting a different dreadnaught.

The missiles hit. Shields lowered to 30% on the Titans. Having devliered the big payload, the Titans began to declerate, moving between their designated Draconis subfleet and the Monacorans. This way the two allied fleets could cover each other, and it also took the Krell out of the firign arc of many planetary missile platforms, with the Draconis acting as a shield between them. As the range increased, the firepower did not slow for an instant as all 4 titans focused their firepower on the largest functioning ships.

4 deadnoughts died, leaving 5 remaining. Several cruisers 5 more and 20 destroyers suffered the Axe as well.

All fire was focused on enemy dreadnoughts of course.

"Cancel the slingshot manuver. Bring us into point defense formation and slaughter those fighters, then bring us out and close as rapidly as you can"
The fighters ECM grappled with the KSE's ships even has the pilots threw their machines into sharp manevers to avoid the point defenses fire. Fighters blew apart in soundless fury, even has they opened fire. The space superiority fighter was meant to close with enemy ships of the line and kill and cripple. It carried 2 large rail guns which would fit on a crusier and 36 missles, much, much smaller versions of the missles their larger brothers carried. Because of that, their range was much much smaller.

The Wild Hunt Task Force moved into postion behind the fighters, using them to pay the bucther bill, has had been done since the beginning of space combat in the many cival wars...

"Admiral, we are in missle range." Reported the Tac Officer.

"Open fire. Interdictor up to full power, they will not run away just when we're getting started."

The biggest formation of UP ships in mordern times fired. The tubes and missle pods spoke has one, birthing monsterous children which leapt out toward the KSE fleets, seeking to deal death and pain.

The first slavo had 9,089 missles, a thrid were jammers and decoys, to blind and confuse the enemy's counter fire. Behind that first salvo the follow ups, using only the interior tubes of the ships came like a pack of wolves, each one was 4687 missles strong, the salvos were .9 seconds apart.

"Incoming"

"Move us back around the moon, use it to shield the armada"

The KSN armada moved back around the moon, causing many of the missiles to lose their target lock. thousands more were shot down by PDL fire or distracted by jammers, but the rest hit, and inflicted major shield damage on the KSN armada. Many escort destroyers and cruisers fell to the onslaught, but the capital shipt survived.

"We've weathered the storm sir. Good, Bring us out"

The armada accelerated, closing rapidly on the UP fleet, their heavy batteries lancing out to inflict heavy damage

(OOC: sorry that question was in game thread. Mistake!)

With the impact of the Lances and disabling of the dreadnaughts, the Krell gained a significant advantage in firepower over the Draconis subfleet. Shields were weakening on the titans, but the fire on them let up significantly when 4 dreadnaughts' guns stopped. Still, it was better to be safe than sorry. The Wallcruisers, which had provided minimal screens but mostly stood to the side, moved to position themselves between the Draconis and the Titans. They expanded their shield radii to cover most of the Titans from the most heavy fire trajectories. The amount of fire coming from the Titans decreased while the amount of damage they took decreased. All fire from the 4 titans, as well as half the escorts, was now leveld on the last Draconis Dreadnaught.

Santiago stared, he'd never expected to actually try and pull a half-trafalgar, but they were doing it.

"Shields at 34% sir. Alexander reports shields at 25, two HC report severe structural damage and are pulling back. The Heron and Parrot are gone, other LC report severe shield damage. Point defense is almost overloaded, we're killing most of the missles though, roughly 64 per."

Santiago grunted.

"Keep fire going, keep concentrating on the Dreads. How many escorts are gone?"

"Six destroyers, two frigates sir."

"Keep fire going, tell the Krell that their help would be appreciated when they get done over there. Prepare to pass through their line."

The armada accelerated, closing rapidly on the UP fleet, their heavy batteries lancing out to inflict heavy damage
The KSE armada waded right into the teeth of continueing missle salvos. UP fighters continued to hound and harry KSE ships.

On board the Sessionist's Bane Admiral Tzu snarled has a Mark class exploded about 6000kms to his front, it's decoy floating free before batteries converged on it.

"Back us up, maintain seperation of missle range and keep firing damn it, give him all we got!"

Escorts died, crusiers shuddered under the assualts upon their shields and the task force begin to back up, keeping the distance constant at optimal missle range.

And the salvos kept pounding on the KSE aramda.

Missiles and fighters exploded all around the KSN armada. The ships were doubling and tripling up on their firepower, quickly destroying enemy vessels.

"Continue closing with the enemy fleet, divert emergency power to shields"

The fleets escorts picked off the missiles, protecting the valuable cruisers and capital ships.
The capships continued firing, doubling up on their targets, inficting heavy damage on the UP fleet

"How long until we're in range?"
"One minute at max burn"

"Keep going, and keep firing"
An allied frigate exploded, just as the admiral watched the death of another enemy cruiser

A broadcast went out from Manticore, directed at all the capital worlds of it's allies and partners in war.

The Manticoran Trade Ministry and Royal Manticoran Merchant Marine Fleet
propose a war-time trade agreement to all of Manticore's allies. This trade agreement will be henceforth known as the Foreign Network Wartime Commerce Treaty (FNWCT). The FNWCT will aim to establish the following:
1) A centralized trade commitee formed by all the relevant powers.
2) To strengthen war time escort for commerce fleets and to standardize inter-stellar security measures.
3) To return 2.5 percent of the overall profits made to each nation in the agreement.
4) To stabilize the flow of vitally important raw material and equipment.

Admiral, our shields are at 39 percent and holding. The other dreadnoughts in our group report similar levels of shield drain. The cruisers arent hlding up well. They have alread lost half their number and their stuation continues to decline, though the destroyers are... relativly in tact.

Aim the full missile salvo of this group(Roughtly 45-60 thousand by my estimate at this point) at that ship there he said, pointing at Monocoran Dreadnoughts, and I mean dreadnoughts, we have to take out the main muscle behind their fleet or we are toast

Witht hat, both barages of missiles struck, and heavy lasers and particle canons through the damaged cruisers and dreadnoughts

On the other "front"

FUll war was waged it was a battle for blood price now. At this point, ships were in this brawl at point blank range.

Krell R&D

In response to request by fleet commanders, full blueprints have been drafted of the new cruiser-size ship model, the Dauntless-class. A few more prototype computer simulations still need to be run, but final plans should be ready by the next round of ship construction, assuming the war goes well enough to have surplus funds for construction.

Nashtar, Nashtar Star Cluster

"There just aren't any other fleet units available. We can be there inside of an hour."

"Yes, I know there isn't any more. Just go!"

"Aye, sir." Vice Admiral Fieldhouse switched off his communicator after acknowledging Admiral Pierce's order. "Prepare 2nd and 3rd Battle Groups for immediate departure for Orodan!"

[OOC: I'm sure we know how I describe fleet formations by now, and I'm tired.]

Enroute:

2 Venture class
2 Claymore class
4 Carnegie class
2 Merovingian class
2 Warhammer class
10 Starlight class
12 Dawn Raider class
10 Sun Striker class
8 Nova class
6 Solar Flare class

The task force has to cover a little over a lightyear. They'll be there before the battle's over.

Home.

The Overadmiral's speech was interrupted when the Admiral of the 2nd fleet reported kinetic plumes detection by the early warning networks of the Pervatia system.

Verolix did the Sixtra equivalent of sighing in relief, before giving new orders. Leaving Grabia unprotected had been a very risky move, one that could have easily backfired against him had his guess of the Ouster targets been proven wrong. But he had been right. The attacks at Bohica and Talathrant had resulted in the loss of almost a third of the Confederation's shipbuilding capabilities. Even if the motherships could be used as emergency shipyards, that was only a minor patch. The Hajr seeked to destroy their shipyards before using their superior numbers to win the war. But they had not yet suceeded.

"Fleet Admiral Siratrex, do your best. Help is on its way and it will reach Pervatia within minutes."

Verolix considered the fleet situation briefly. The 2nd fleet and the 1st squadron were at Pervatia, about to engage a third Ouster fleet. The 4th fleet was the closest to Pervatia and, luckily, it was ready for battle as it had left Bohica without actually engaging the Ousters. Prextazsa was only protected by the 3rd fleet for the moment, but that was about to change. The 2nd squadron from Fertiakas and what was left of the 5th fleet on their way to Prextazsa ensured that the industrial heart of the Confederation would soon be safe. The Ouster War Clusters at Bohica and Talathrant would lose precious hours with their systematic destruction of the sensor networks of both systems and they didn't have a hope of reaching any of the core worlds before the Confederate fleets. Far from perfect, but not everything was lost... yet.

Australis.

"How can even a voidworm miss the fact that Sixtrasis has been completely evacuated?" asked the Commander of Australis third battle station to his second in command when the Ousters started to send demands to a planet where there was no one to hear them.

"I don't know, sir. But the fleet is already in position and all the planetary defenses are in nominal condition."

"Have they deployed the interdictors?"

"Of course, sir. After Talathrant we are not allowing them to jump on our throats again. The interdictors are set for wide net interdiction and the Ousters will be unable to jump within beam range of the fleet from any direction."

The Commander nodded in agreement, seeing the interdictors among the fleet vessels. They were ugly small ships, sluggish in their movements, although protected with good shielding and decent point defense weaponry resulting from the modification with military grade equipment of freighters.

OOC: Given the way you described the events, I supposed that the 2nd WC at Bohica was that fleet, but don't worry. The fleets started to move the moment Fervestria picked you.
