I was about to ask the same question.

Because I have yet to place my orbital, and surface defenses.

Indeed, there should be no references what so ever to the pervious STGOD. That are not linked in any way shape or form. You cannot treat this as simply being further along in history, the time difference would only be 300 years and it could introduce major continuality issues for powers.

You where told this before.

His Empire can be the same as last time if he wants with some new locations and a different military. But having a power whose characteristics you like and that are well established is important to this. Having a working history is a key part of setting up a good power.

Isn't the point of this STGOD to sort of experiment with something new?

I'm editing the history to make the refugees flee during a civil war.

to be honest, i never intended for it to be in the same timeline as the original STGOD, i had an entire alternate backstory planed for the NBA.

Yeah, no impossible fortress worlds. Other than that generally try to keep it in line with the tech of your faction and reasonable over all.

It'd depend on the sattelites.

And people, remember, fixed defenses are more vulnerable by nature.

Squamata Class Defense Grid Emplacement

These are sattelites that orbit the Homeworld, and the Major Colonies(and as such, provide defense to the minor coloniesthat orbit them)

They are armed for both anti-missile, anti-fighter, and anti-capship work. But serve mainly to soften up larger targets for the fleet that is defendng the world, and the planets own guns.

Size: 350 meters across
Shape: sphere
arms: 120 point defense guns. 15 light particle beams/lasers. as well as 15 medium particle beams/lasers...All weapons located in a equatorial weapons ring.

Per min firepower: 850 mt/min

shields: 2.5 gigatons 200 mt per min recharge.

Is this acceptable?

On a 150 meter disk that is far too much armament and shielding. Why you would use a disk I don't know. Huge target with minimal mass.

I could scale them up of course... And I will lower the shielding...They are designed to be able to hold off an attacking fleet long enough for something more mobile to ge there...And they are unmanned of course...

They should be more like a 300 meter sphere in terms of mass.

A total of four numbers and only multiplication are involved in this.

No, and please provide your other dimensions. What I've guessed at for them leave this thing as still being questionable in its capability relative to its mass.

Why the fuck are you using a disk anyway? It basically gives you a huge target area with only a minimal mass behind it for shield generators and there power sources. With a stationary defence platform a sphere with the weapons in a ring makes far more sense.

Actually, I may want to equally space the weapons. that way, I can get better coverage, and it isnt like the shere cant rotate to hit something with all its weapons.

Umm, my method should give you nil blind spots while making it possibul to bring every major weapon to bear on a single target on either side of the weapons ring. Targets approaching from the side could be hit by half the guns, and rotating will let you quickly bring all batteries to bear.

If you spread your guns across the surface your not going to get much better then 50% of your weapons on any one target.
