Freespace 2...deep-space fighting

Well, not really.Stark wrote:I thought the heroic ending was quite satisfying, actually, and you'd have to be pretty good to both cover the civilians AND escape.
SPOILER: All you have to do is sit inside the jump node for 11 minutes and do jack shit, then jump out. Heh.
That said, both endings one gets are pretty satisfying. You feel like a hero either way.

Well, I did it. Wasn't easy, but I pulled it off. And no, it seems you don't have to play all the way through to try the last mission again.rhoenix wrote:Well, not really.Stark wrote:I thought the heroic ending was quite satisfying, actually, and you'd have to be pretty good to both cover the civilians AND escape.

So? Any civillian ship not already in the Jump Node is gonna get fried by the supernova anyways. It's not like you're doing them that much of a favor by letting them live an additional terror-filled fifteen seconds.Stark wrote:Except you're running away like a girl!

One thing I forgot to mention. Is the cutscene supposed to be entirely redshifted if you don't die in the supernova? Because it was when I made it out, but was in normal color when I died.

Ok.
I've got a graphics glitch that's annoying the hell out of me, and I have no idea why it's happening.
I have a problem with "phantom asteroids." I can target them, but I can't see or interact with them.
Also, sections of the GTCV Demios class corvette and the GTVI Arcadia station don't appear visually. I can see right through them to the other side.
Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Well, there was Star Wars Starfighter and Star Wars Jedistarfighter, both released on PS2.BountyHunterSAx wrote:Out of curiousity; i know there was a good star-wars themed deep-space fighting game released for the PS2 - but am unsure which one it was or what it was called; anyone know?

Yes, I think you're missing a few VP files. You need the mediavps 701 fixs, due to some comp issues, I can't link to them right now, Stark should know the links.Darksider wrote:Ok.

I'm not Stark, but here you are:
+http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index. ... 905.0.html
Download the core files and the 710 media files, and extract to your /mediavps folder. This should solve your issue.

I replaced all the MediaVps files, but it didn't help.
Should I report this to the FSsource forums?
EDIT: Never mind. Stupid me, I forgot to enable the vps.

I already have those files (or at least files by the same names) from the original installation, but I still can't see asteroids. They're bracketed, but I can shoot, fly, and see right through them. There's just a bunch of white brackets with nothing in them whenever the game's screaming about asteroids.rhoenix wrote:I'm not Stark, but here you are:

The best thing I can suggest is what I recently had to do - backup your mediavps directory, replace those files with those from the link, and try the game. Additionally, if you've downloaded any extra tables or effects from Lightspeed, you may wish to remove them and any reference to them.Rogue 9 wrote:I already have those files (or at least files by the same names) from the original installation, but I still can't see asteroids. How does one enable the vps? I can't seem to find an option for it in the launcher, and since I already have the files I suspect that's probably the problem.Darksider wrote:I replaced all the MediaVps files, but it didn't help.

Enabling mediaVPs is done just like any other mod. In the MOD tab of the launcher, pick that as your mod.Rogue 9 wrote:How does one enable the vps? If you need the mediaVPs for another mod, make sure that in that other mod dictionary, in the mod.ini file, that the following line appears(bolded).
Make sure that fits the folder with your vps.[launcher]
infotext = FreeSpace 1, now ported to run on the FreeSpace 2 engine.;
website = http://fsport.hard-light.net/;
forum = http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index. ... ,39.0.html;
[multimod]
primarylist = ;
secondrylist = ,mediavps;

Yeah, that line appears. I suppose the files must be FUBARed. I'll just try replacing them with what rhoenix linked.
Edit: Going by file size, it seems the files I'm replacing and the files I'm replacing them with are identical. The "date modified" line is different, but for the ones I have that date is the date I installed the game, so I doubt that means anything.
