Methinks he needs to glue the wheels back onto that OS of his first. There's no way Firefox would throw up both this error, the FF2 disk space one, and the download errors unless his XP installation was fundamentally broken. No alternative browser is going to fix that.Resinence wrote:EP, just wait for Safari4, it will be out fairly soon, the dev preview is already out. It's as fast (I won't claim faster until the official build is out, or maybe ever, considering the hostility FX fans can bring to the table) and you are probably already used to the interface. That error could be any number of things, and a nightmare to track down and fix.
I downloaded FX, but don't plan to install it. Hopefully they get their world record.
I still bookmark pages, I just don't use the bookmarks menu any more. I can access everything from the URLbar now with a few keypresses, instead of digging three levels deep in a hierarchical menu.General Zod wrote: Well, bookmarks still have their uses. If you ever wind up clearing your browser cache & cookies, they're handy to have as a backup.
There's no standing record. They're at 8,925,494 now, so until someone comes forward with a bigger Guinness-verified number, they have the world record.Schuyler Colfax wrote:What's the record?Zixinus wrote:Does anyone know whether the download count is anywhere near the amount needed for the Guinness World's Record?
ETA: assuming they're real, kudos to the 17 people in Turkmenistan who contributed
Not knowing about the AwesomeBar before using FF3 for the first time was pretty grim (I was well attached to the type first letter ---> scroll to specific URL method), but given a little time, it's starting to work better. More importantly, text is displayed a lot better then it was with Firefox 2. Certain regions of text (usually around hyperlinks) would start to get "burned" if the mouse rolled over them. This wasn't significant, but definitely annoying. Integrating buttons with the native OS was a great idea. Very subtle, but satisfying once you notice it.
The cons? I'm not a fan of the gray color theme. (I have the Mac OS version, if Vista/XP is different) The whiter Firefox 2 was a lot cheerier.

Anyone know how to fix these annoyances:
- When opening a group of bookmarks all at once, it opens them to the right of the current tab. I want it to open them to the right of all open tabs.
- When opening a group of tabs, it always opens the first in the current tab. I want it to open all of them in new tabs.
Given how well tabbrowser preferences has fixed similar annoyances in the past, I'm expecting it to fix them. When it gets updated to work with this version. But if someone knows of another extension that already does this I'll use it instead.

Yup, thats why I said to just update safari, since he obviously already has it working. AN error like that means there is something seriously wrong with XP, but I try to avoid telling people to reinstall their OS because it has caused me to be blamed for trouble getting everything working again afterwards.Methinks he needs to glue the wheels back onto that OS of his first. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I want - no, I need Tab Mix Plus. I've tried the old download and switch in the install.rdf but I can't open the options (I seem to remember having the same problem when I switched to 2.0). In particular, I need the single window mode and options for new tabs for address bar, search bar, etc. Any suggestions?

Actually, I should have tried my google-fu first. I found this, which has made me very happy.
