I don't know why you bother playing SH. Everytime a new one comes out it seems its just a buggy piece of shitfuck.

I haven't bothered since SH3, which was as far as I want my bugs:complexity ratio to go. Yay, micro your crew all the time because fiddling = expert skilled play!
Re: Silent Hunter V - Bugfest extraoridnaire
Well people play it because it's literally the only submarine game out there.
Re: Silent Hunter V - Bugfest extraoridnaire
Given that they now have a pretty spectacular looking game, what does the future hold for the series?
Does this mean that because they can't increase the nosehair rendering they will
A) build a sequel/expansion and concentrate resources on improving gameplay and fixing critical bugs
Or
B) not make any more games because they wont be able to sell it on better graphics
Or
C) enhanced nosehair rendering.

Apparently nobody can see you without a signature.

You forgot 'ignore bugs and chop out piles of complexity to appeal to general market while at the same time implementing features only nerds want'.
And Julhelm, there's pretty much only two battleship games and they both suck. So y'know what? I don't play them. These guys know they have a captive audience who don't have the spine to stop playing; they've proven it through the years.

They'll be hoping that someone will develop more sensory interaction for computer games.

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Re: Silent Hunter V - Bugfest extraoridnaire
Presumably they don't stop playing because they fear the total collapse of the genre. Not unrealistic, given how little interest developers have for it. To most of us though, the sim genre has been non-existent for years. A real naval sim hasn't been out since SH3. Consumers have been playing developer scraps since then, out of the vain hope they'll suddenly ignore their revenue charts and start making real games for a tiny, irrelevant audience?Stark wrote:And Julhelm, there's pretty much only two battleship games and they both suck. Ubi undoubtedly sees the market for SH as expendable. I'll bet money they're going to pull the plug on the series after this game. Personally? I don't give a shit, i'd rather play nothing than consistently be duped into buying trash over and over again until its fucking cool or something.
Best care anywhere.
Re: Silent Hunter V - Bugfest extraoridnaire
If the SH franchise dies, there is a much better chance another developer will take up the submarine thing. As it stands, you'd be retarded to try to fight the established IP with the slavish fanbase.

Did anyone here ever play Sierra/Dynamix's Aces of the Deep? What was the opinion of it at the time, bearing in mind of course the age of the game?

Heh. Apparently the Ubi Servers croaked again yesterday.
What's that I hear? There are no problems whatsoever with this kind of thing?
