Let's not forget:
DUKE: 1
GEARS: NOTHING!
"I'd buy this for a dollar"
Power Armor is for Pussies!
I've got Balls of fail
*facepalm*

Any of that could have 'worked' if the voice actor wasn't doped out of his mind or possibly a victim of stroke.
I actually can't even make my voice that monotonous, it's like he aimed to sound like PC speaker speech of 1993.
BWA BWA BWABWA BWA BWAAAAAAH
That's what all 'his' lines sound like to me.

Hilariously 2K's Public Relations group threw a huge shit fit at anyone who gave the game a negative review. They're threatening to withhold future review copies of games if they gave DNF a bad score.
With journalistic integrity like this I have nothing but faith in the video game industry.

To be fair, that's not so much a reflection on journalistic integrity as it is on publisher shitbaggery.
Like when Ubisoft black-listed Ziff Davis (1up et al) for a bad review and unlike Gamespot, Ziff Davis didn't fold.

Whoa, whoa, whoa - where did you hear that GB is flipping out to that extreme?

He didn't say anything abotu Gearbox, genius. The company hired to do marketing made a hilarious tweet and has now been fired. Its just reminded people again that while other product solicit goodwill and positive word-of-mouth by providing previews or prototypes, the game industry attempts to control this process as much as possible (and lie as much as possible).Chardok wrote:Whoa, whoa, whoa - where did you hear that GB is flipping out to that extreme?

Let's be fair, most industries through extraordinarily lavish junkets to buy off whoever might be purchasing their product in the future. The games industry just has it super easy, because most outlets are a pack of fatty nerds without scruples who can be bought off with a pastry and a girl in a bikini.Stark wrote:He didn't say anything abotu Gearbox, genius. Shrooms: It's interesting that the taste of blood is kind of irony.

That's it; because the people involved are top-to-bottom nerds (generally speaking), part of the industry has similar attributes to any 'closed' nerd community. From shit management to catering to forums to paying sites to fap on about previews, it's all a gravy train until the game comes out. Even then, if the pre-sale press is bad, they can go on talking nonsense, knowing most nerds (having no ability to form new ideas) will never play it.

That's why every "preview" of a game on gamespot is pretty much the same.Stark wrote:He didn't say anything abotu Gearbox, genius.
