I had been fascinated by that unique characteristic of the submarine service, which requires a submariner to strand on his own feet and sets him a task in the great spaces of the oceans, the fulfilment of which demands a stout heart and ready skill; I was fascinated by that unique spirit of comradeship engendered by destiny and hardship shared in the community of a U-boat's crew, where every man's well- being was in the hands of all and every single man was an indispensable part of the whole. Every submariner, I am sure, has experienced in his heart the glow of the open sea and the task entrusted to him, has felt himself to be as rich as a king and would change places with no man.

I was thinking about this one, especially as I have recently grown a remarkably appropriate beard, but September? One of the first boats to be risked in grey water again, after the near victory of March turned into the bloody disasters of May?

Hals-und-beinbruch, you're going to need it.

That would be great! Make it bright and gaudy, too! :D

...unless herr kommandant orders you to repaint the boat again :P

EDIT: Also, do you want to have the deck gun? It's taken off by default.

Leave it off, not much use for it as most merchants are armed at this time anyway and even if they are not, the use of it is ahistorical.

In the mess hall of the submarine, all could be heard was the throwing of food and utensils as the chef tried to make a pumpkin pie. All that could be heard was "Bork Bork Bork."

Hmm. Swedish Aryan Chef would be devastating and mighty in the incredibly cramped quarters of a U-boat galley: There's not a lot of space...

Surely, if there was a way to make him as much of a menace to things outside the pressure hull as he is to things inside it, U-1313 would murderize the entire Royal Navy in a matter of weeks!

Make him as offensive as you want. The whole point is to offend the stereotype of the awesome grey wolf supermensch :D

As for the u-boat galley...

That's a luxurious and spacious one on a Type IX. Your Type VII will have a vastly smaller galley ;)

Ok, Witz is also good with math and getting anti-social desiel engines to comply, sometimes without making too much noise. (just cursing, usually no hitting things with spanner unless needed, and definalty not when we are hiding from those damn destroyers....

hopefully no one will notice my ability to curse in serveral different languages, without knowing any other Russian, Italian, Spanish, Yiddish, or Japanese besides curse words...
