I'm not sure they would have lasted in the Pyrenees during the Pax Romana--could they survive in the temperature extremes of Scandinavia? Otherwise I can only place them in the Carpathians/Transylvania or further east, which is fine, because there are actually very extensive trade networks that can plausibly see someone end up in Britain.

...Or, if you want, you could have the Lizardfolk from North Africa. The Vikings trade with the Cordoban Caliphate regularly and a presence in the British Isles is hardly implausible then. That actually makes more sense than the Carpathians, as I can see lizards inhabiting the Atlas Mountains or something.

*shudders* The things the Vikings drag out of Russia these days..

P.S. How obviously half-orc is he? 'Cause if it's too obvious, there are a fair number of places where he would be an obvious target of the populace--Orcs are not popular, particularly as most of the surviving orcs known to Europe are pillaging in Hungary at the moment. Most of the surviving population was concentrated in Russia (as a region), and, well, got wiped out by the Mongols. The survivors are trying to make a comeback by trashing everyone else who got beat up by the Mongols. A lot of people did in that corner of the world, after all.

No, you're not. *crooked grin*

Uhm, the main thing is to think of why your character decided to travel through the Great Khanate (it's a rather long trip) to Europe. Now, obviously, the northern route is not implausible--between the rivers of Russia and the Baltic the Vikings had an awesome trading network that can easily get you to Britain--so once you're in Europe, explaining why you're in the British isles is not hard. But why are you here in the first place? Answering that question should tell you something about your character.

Incidently, a few years prior to our start day, a monk sent by the Pope visited the capital of the Khanate in Mongolia, so there is definitely travel--and not very long from now, Marco Polo will make his famous journey through the Khanate, which by unifying that territory made it rather more safe for travelers. So, obviously, some such commerce is already occuring. But it's an an awesome journey, of, for someone on foot, easily a year's duration. So the question of "why" is important, I think, to developing your character's personality.

Developing the bio for my character is certainly going to be interesting in this strange new Europe.

A redheaded half-Elven rogue shouldn't be too hard to explain, though, given all the Viking incursions.

Hmm...Africa and the mediterainian are probably the best bet for a 'hub' or lizardfolk, but they could go further north for short periods relying on Gigantothermy and clothing to keep from going into a tapor/chilled rest state.

I like the idea of trade with the vikings -- I think I can come up with a good backstory (or at least an OK one) for him being that far north.

Notes
Lizardfolk General Info:
Mostly found in northern Africa, nearly driven extinct by human beings in many places they once inhabited. Once they ranged across the Mediterranean to the coast of India, now only a few pocket tribes of Lizardfolk exist within secluded areas in those places (more in the east than in the west, and more in the south than in the north). A few are scattered in other areas, even co-existing with some Viking tribes. These lizardfolk do not fare as well as their southerly cousins and grow at a much slower rate physically. Northern variants often have down feathers as hatchlings and tend to be slightly larger than their southern cousins. Some of these northern varieties retain some feathering later in life, but are embarrassed about the sign of juvenile status and hide it. During the harsh winters, they gather in large underground caves and hibernate. The northern Lizardfolk have been known to make alliances with elves and other demi-human races in times of need. The Northern Lizardfolk are much rarer than their southern cousins.

Bio: Toren is a Southern Lizardfolk who was born under the Khan, near the Black Sea. Spending most of his life in hiding in the wilds, he grew closer to nature in order to better conceal himself.

Edit: Added Prestige Class: Shifter

Hey Majen, since you're born in the Khanate and my character traveled through it to get to where the game will be starting, maybe your character and mine (and maybe Tasoth as well) can start out knowing each other.

That's an easy one. He's the only young of a clan of miners. Taken as a grave portent by the community, he was raised to be the clans defender from the rising number of bakemono raids. After a fight with a Kumo that nearly destroyed his clan and killed him, he decided to travel and develop his fighting technique. MU AHAHAHAHAHA!! Its a reptilian Mitsurugi or Haohmaru!
