For most of SE..I mastered Siegfrid(yeah real hard.... ), Cervantes(Nasty evil bastard), and Taki. The rest I knew basic combo and really didn't care about special weapons, because seriously they either were too abusive or just silly.
The same three I still mostly use and they have changed pretty significantly...Especially Taki. Cervantes has a different combo scheme entirly...and Nitemare/Siggy can just do so much more.

Bah I say! Many people learn other characters and that is fine. It helps to balance out your strategy, but in Soul Blade, Li Long and Taki were there best two characters. They had the best weapons: Twin Thunder and the Spirit Blade. My buddy kicked everyones ass with Taki, one of the best players I have ever seen. But I didn't want to use the same or master the same character so I chose Li Long. It might be only one, but it gets the job done and and I happy being SB God.thecreech wrote:I was just joking with my comment but mastering one character and all his moves isn't very impressive. Aw, come on... the only character worth anything in Soul Blade was Taki. The greatest outfits too.
Okay, I'll probably be hanged for this, but... I've never liked the Tekken or Virtual FIghter series. I don't know quite why. I think it was the button combinations. Too complex for me.
Children of the Atom: I'll kick EVERYONE'S ass with Psylocke or Juggernaut. Use them both in subsequent Marvel games.
Darkstalkers: Well, as you can tell, I'm a female character player... Felicia was my best for that series.
MK (the original): You would think Sonya, right? Nope. While I did enjoy using her, I was much better with Raiden and Johnny Cage. I always loved the look on the guys faces when I got in close enough to use Johnny's infamous move. In subsequent games, I did like using Katana and Scorpion. Killer fatalities. "Get over here!"
Did I miss anything?

For regular I used Vega...yeah he sounded like a girl, but I kicked more Ryu/Ken ass in the DC area then most.
For Alpha series I was an Akuma whore. In each of them he had some truly nasty combos.
And yes Taki rather *tight* outfits were always cool. I only liked Nightmare's Blue form...his Alts have ALYWAYS sucked for me.

*Goes to find some rope* J/K I can understand why people don't like Virtua fighter. It is very complicated and takes alot of hard work to master because it has the deepest fighting system. But No other fighting game rewards you for your labor. You really feel like you have accomplished something when you start to kick peoples asses.Kelly Antilles wrote:Okay, I'll probably be hanged for this, but... For Alpha i used Guy and Gen. They are such no names that when you use them everyone underestimates you and then they find out that they don't know how to fight against them because they are always fighting against Ryu or ken and end up getting their asses kicked. I rarely lost when i use those two. Regular i used Vega alot or Guile.Ghost Rider wrote:Street Fighter series...either Alpha or regular who'd ya use?

Also for not liking Tekken or VF I can see it. It's a lack of flash.
I think of it this way...I like them(somewhat...I play VF more because it's not as exploitable) but they do not have the flash of say the SF/GG(another fun game, one that I'm learning how to do the counter combo plus a few other quirks in the system)of KOF games. Pretty much the SC series does offer that level of flash.
So I figure that's what didn't draw her to it.

Oh very much so...but there is no better humilation then beating someone's ass with Dan(so what if the Art of Fighting looked so similar and well.......came out the same year, the actual story is funy because the Japanese dates for both really make it look that Capcom had more a beef with it then SNK ever did).thecreech wrote:Do you guys know why Dan was created and why he is such a horrible character?Kelly Antilles wrote:I have Pocket Fighter and Dan is sooooooooooo cute!

Well that pretty much sums it up. He is a cross between Ryo and Garcia, they created him to make fun of those characters and SNK.Ghost Rider wrote:Oh very much so...but there is no better humilation then beating someone's ass with Dan(so what if the Art of Fighting looked so similar and well.......came out the same year, the actual story is funy because the Japanese dates for both really make it look that Capcom had more a beef with it then SNK ever did).

Well he's a an amalgalmation of Ryo and Robert...literally Ryo body, Robert's head.Kelly Antilles wrote:Dan is from King of Fighters or something like that, isn't he?
Kabuki is in Pocket Fighter and was in one of the prequel Street Fighters. I can't remember which one.
They originated from Art of Fighting...and were in the King Of Fighters.
And you're talking about missy Ninja, Ibuki .
She's in the SF3...and she's a fun, speedy babe.

Button Learner. Like my profile says, I'm a SSBM god. I know Young Link's quintiple jump, and the only character that I haven't beaten 15 Minute Melee with is Bowser. He's to slow to attack, big, and heavy for my taste. Anyway, very few people can beat me when I'm Link. Although Pichu is definitely the best character to use for bragging rights. Nobody expects a little rat to hurl himself into the fray and do 39% damage in a single attack. Sure, I'll take 1% damage, but that's still a 3800% return.
Fragment of the Lord of Nightmares, release thy heavenly retribution. Blade of cold, black nothingness: become my power, become my body. Together, let us walk the path of destruction and smash even the souls of the Gods! RAGNA BLADE!

LOL...memories always happen in the strangest of places, don't they Kel?
And yeah creech wouldn't mind if we all lived closer for a tourney...be at least fun, mostly because CVS2 has died(all but West Coast) and most the arcades here I need to trek up to NY to get decent competition.

I'm a learner. I have Street Figher 2 for the SNES locked into permanent memory, in that I could pick it up after five years and remember all the button positions for the moves. I used to beat the socks off of decent Guile players people using Zangief.
However, I have COMPLETELY sucked arse at every game before or since that (especially Mortal Kombat. Who the HELL wants a block BUTTON? I got my ass handed to me in that game because I kept trying to block and ended up just walking backwards), and become highly disoriented on any 3-D beat-em-up game ever made.
*RANT MODE* And I don't at ALL get the '42-chain-combo moves of UBER ENERGY EXPLOSION DEATH!' that is all the rage with the latest Capcom fighter games, where the status of between two and five annoying 'guages', with the right button movements, results in the entire screen going into Epilepsy Seizure Mode for a few seconds, and giant energy balls BDZing the screen, after which you finish blinking the spots out of your eyes to see that you have done about as much damage as a few good punches would have netted you.
