Grand Theft Auto: Gangland. Chicago-analogue in the late 20's. Grab a tommy gun, jack a Dusenburg, and run three casks of bathtub moonshine to the speakeasy. Fun new twist: the cops sometimes work for you and will turn a blind eye to whatever you do, and sometimes they work for rival gangs and will drag you into a dark alley and blow your head off if they see you. Bonus fun: sometimes, you're not sure if a cop if working for someone else or is straight.

Any city gets what it admires, will pay for, and, ultimately, deserves…We want and deserve tin-can architecture in a tinhorn culture. And we will probably be judged not by the monuments we build but by those we have destroyed.--Ada Louise Huxtable, "Farewell to Penn Station", New York Times editorial, 30 October 1963

I already suggested that, plus a multi-play option, and an option to be a vigilante, or Elliot Ness...

The Soviet Union would be awesome. By two stars you'd have the Army on you, and by six they'd be shooting off tactical nuclear weapons.
There is no crime in The Soviet Union. The workers are provided with everything they need. Now, about your trip to Siberia....

I'd also like to see a "GTA: Lovecraft" set in a tri-city area involving Arkham, Innsmouth and Dunwich. The plot will be about a conflict between various cults in the area, including the Esoteric Order of Dagon. And you'll get to run over Deep Ones.

I'd like to see the return of the Gouranga Monks from GTA 1 and 2. Dunno if that joke's a little too UK-centric, though.
"So you want to live on a planet?"
"No. I think I'd find it a bit small and wierd."
"Aren't they dangerous? Don't they get hit by stuff?"

Two major criteria:

1) Multiplayer. An absolute must.

2) Portal nuclear bomb. Just big enough to level at least half the city.

Hell yeah. If you think about it, they really don't need to make that much of an effort to have a great multiplayer. Look at FreeLancer. It's the exact same thing as the single-player, minus a plot. Yet, it's still one of my favorite games to play online.
