Yes, and a good thing, too. With the bigger mechs hammering the main chassi takes a while and they can damage you badly in the meantime, so you can try for a mission kill instead.
Not sure if you'd count it as an FPS, though.
It's really a cross between an FPS and a rather low-end sim.

How cool would it be to fight against massive robots you can shoot seperate parts off which all will affect its combat ability
