Curse you, Tycho! For 1-upping my doomship.
Hah! 300 points now makes it Of Doom? Absurd! At my very minimum, I wanted a 500 Point Warship, +125-or-something-like-that vs. Warships and I got one. LKLR Sword of the Emperor's Wrath for the win.
Hmmn, Tycho's placement makes Avalon the hub of the southern Phoenix cluster, just as Freehold and the Gaian Compact are hubs in the north.
Going to be interesting, given how the Avalonians are insular to the extreme, and have little need for trade.
For my basic uniforms, I'm thinking something along the lines of Tok'ra or Aurora uniforms. Of course, my uniforms will be made of a suitably wankish forcefield-reinforced armorweave material so they're not completely useless.
Oh, and Tycho, you do realize that your fleet is going to be hideously vulnerable to bombers?

Thats kind the of the point. I mentioned the reasons why in my OOB and in an earlier post.
Captain Tycho! The worst fucker ever!
The Best reciever ever!
Doesn't really matter much in the immediate term, your closest neighbors are me and the Falau'un. I can't say much about the Falau'un, but the Avalonians are not at all interested in meddling with the affairs of the lesser races of humankind.
They're more the type to carefully expand and build up their worlds, and ruthlessly crush any unwanted intrusions in their space (hence the massive point-expenditure on defense, and the small point-expenditure on non-defensive ground armies).

Then you should fear me, being a slightly xenophobic race of space elves living on mountains

It's a system not belonging to anyone IIRC. You can try to grab it if you want. But I doubt the others would like it *g*

Just to make matters more obscenely complucated, the cluster's spherical.
Matt, with whom you're making contact? Hope not the system the other starships are all in? That should be quite a way from your home...

That properly applies to me first post too, I real should not be there and since no one has talked about me yet just pretend that post never happened (I have added a notice to the post in question).

Please, by all means, send me a holographic projector to represent that. How.. are we going to keep track of actual sphericalness?
Either I'm gonna be late, or I'm going to have to drop out. Busy as hell here. ¬_¬ Will see what I can do next week
According to wikipedia, "the Mohorovičić discontinuity is the boundary between the Earth's crust and the mantle."
According to Starbound, it's a problem solvable with enough combat drugs to turn you into the Incredible Hulk.
How long do people think is reasonable time for my ships to travel from the center of my empire to the most outlying settlement considering that there are only 7 settlements of any size in my( i.e. they are traveling to one of the 7) empire?
I think a better question is how long it takes to travel from one end of the star cluster to the other. I propose that we model things after the very best (ie British and German) WWI navies. The time it takes one of our fleets to move from one end of the Star Cluster to the other should be about the same as the time it took a British or German fleet to make it half-way around the world. Build times for ships should be similarly comparable.

I'm going to make a map out of a snowglobe and physically chain mail it to everyone.
I'm kidding. I could actually draw up some axes and refference lines but to be honest it's really too much work just for a map. Probably wouldn't hurt though if people would just bear in mind that going around other people's territories to get to places would be a huge ordeal.
err, shouldn't the cluster be more of a disk shape?
And barring prior knowledge, it's entirely possible for people to unintentionally cross into eachother's territory, as you travel along the shortest path to your destination.

I need to know for the Diplomacy thread, would an 1h be to short, considering that I am only a minor power and there for very small.
Glimmervoid wrote:A rules question this time, can fighters be housed on planets?
I don't see why not. If not planets, I figure every side for the most part has the ability to make an orbital fighter base with minimal difficulty.
Edit: I think an hour travel time across the entire cluster is a tad too fast. Else, we could have reinforcements arrive before a battle is over from across the cluster very easilly. I'd recomment at least a week to cross the whole thing, for the fastest races... Just suggestions for the mods.
Could some mod stickify the OOB threads, or append the STGOD thread? Would be quite helpful, I guess.
