Awwwww, I was hoping it'd be a midnight release. Not so, it seems.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

I'm informed (by Dartzap, so take it for what it's worth) that it'll go up around 6 pm GMT for whatever reason.

What'd be really neat would be if the Tau could call in an Orca dropship Firewarrior or Crisis suit insertion more or less anywhere, and have the Orca come in guns blazing
DC is shaping up to be an even better add-on than WA, and with the high quality of the original game they can keep doing add-ons for some time to come.

From what I understand, this will be the final DoW expansion, after this it'll be DoW2 or nothing

Finished tutorial and campaign mission.
first off, Tau are great.
Very shooty. The basic firewarrior can easily beat basic space marines. But they're totally pathetic in melee.
Kroot are quite awesome. Not a lot of durability, but pretty good melee damage, and their leap attack is fun to watch.
Tau Commander is a BEAST. Unupgraded he easily kills infantry. Upgraded, he makes lots of infantry his bitches. Cheers for that plasma rifle.
The Tau seem pretty balanced so far. Their Skyray is good artillery, but it's also got low HP. I spotted some other balance changes to the SMs as well. Dread health is down to vanilla DoW levels, and Assault termies seem weaker than they were in WA.

It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!!!!!!

I just got my ass handed to me on the campaign mission
I had my people out shooting stuff, and all of a sudden, I've got a massive attack on my base! Ahh, the lack of Tau turrets! I handle the Assault Marines just fine (Kroot hounds are nasty), but then dreadnoughts trash my base, and then more space marines and land speeders come in, and it's all over.
Hmm, maybe I should have respawned that Tau commander...

I like the rather stompy animations of the battlesuits. The commander's "Target Aquired" abilty is fun.
I wonder if the skyray is a bit overpowered. Huge range, and it's salvo fire abilty will kill everything in a building sized area. I mean everything. The only thing I've had survive a volley in the demo is 1 man out of a tactical squad, everything else including terminators has perished. It's got a quick cooldown too. Regular attack does decent AoE damage to infantry when it hits too. It does damage friendly units at least. I've had skyrays target themselves when swarmed by enemies as a last resort.

Too bad my computers here are both took weak to run DoW.
I guess I'll just have to rely on this Imperial Guard Heavy Weapons Team footage to keep me company.
...That, or the mountain of corpses they leave behind.

Alright, tried the mission again. Completely demolished the space marines
The difference was that I capped all the points near me fast, and upgraded them all the way. Then I went whirlwind-hunting. And kept my commander alive. The commander may kick some serious infantry ass, but it's more useful for anti-vehicle, I think. That being said, normal fire warrior guns are AWESOME. They're good against basically everything but dreadnoughts.
Oh, and stealth suits suck. Badly. They're only good for capping points early on. Maybe recon later, but I haven't tried that. Too many things can see them, and they're terrible shots.

You mean the basic troops? Because I took the whole map with seven squads of them with their fusion guns plus a fully upgraded commander. With jump packs you can easily get them out of bad situations and they have the firepower to tear through a dreadnaught in no time. And nothings funnier than watching a squad of assault terminators just stand their and die because they can't see stealthed units.Hawkwings wrote: Oh, and stealth suits suck. Badly. The jump packs are an upgrade available on the HQ.
And were you supposed to be able to play Necrons in the demo? Because if so, I didn't find it.

I only found the Tau.
And damn did I have fun.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
