Excerpt of interview with Robert Fox, EA ambassador to M6
"Welcome back. When we broke for commercials, we were talking with distinguished guest Ambassador Robert Fox via StellarCom link to Mesopotamia Six. Ambassador, what is Earth Alliance's position on the Corporate Sector's... ah, suggestion, that the EA abandon it's colonies in Cooke to present an appearance of neutrality?"
"Well, Miss Saunderson, I'm afraid that I am at present unaware of EarthDome's position regarding the... suggestion, as you put it. However, I can present a historical perspective as Ambassador here, in that during my time here as Ambassador, not once have any of the other ambassadors complained about the presence of a major Earth colony within this system. I admit that I have not been here since the beginning, but when news of the Corporate Sector proposal broke, I discussed the issue briefly with my aide here who was here during my predecessor's term of service here, and he too can not recollect any complaint concerning the presence of an Earth colony."
"Do you feel that the presence of an Earth colony compromises the neutrality of Mesopotamia Six?"
"I feel that if such claims are valid, then the effect of a nearby Earth colony would pale utterly in comparison to the fact that Mesopotamia Six is owned and operated by the Earth Alliance. Earth Alliance also solely absorbs the costs in personnel and maintenance which such a large space station incurs. Despite this, I feel that the alien powers recognize Mesopotamia Six for what it is; a platform for advocating and advancing the non-violent resolution of disputes, such that violence can be avoided, lives can be spared, and commerce can continue unhindered by threat of war. With that in mind, I believe they also recognize that the unhindered operation of M6 is in Earth Alliance's best interests, as well as those of all participant nations."
"And what about the Corporate Sector's application to re-join the M6 advisory council?"
"That is a matter I must leave to my colleagues, as ordered by the President."

Excerpt of interview with retired Captain Ford, veteran of the first battle between Corporate and Earth forces
"What is your take on the Corporate request for permission to purchase Earth colonies in Cooke, or establish their own outpost in the Cooke system?"
"It's just a power grab. Marxis wants his people there so that he can fabricate a threat against them and have an excuse to send his fleet into the Cooke system."
---
Excerpt of interview with Commander O'Hare, commander of M6
"Does the Corporate Sector need Earth Alliance transponder codes for their diplomats to board M6?"
"Absolutely not. The Dilgar don't have those codes, and their diplomats continue to shuttle in and out of M6; one of their starships is currently at a parking location beyond the M6 perimeter. The Corporates can send their ship to the system and shuttle their diplomats in like everyone else."

"Fellow ambassadors, I have come here to officially put the issue of Corporate Sector re-admission to the M6 Advisory Council to a vote of the council. As Earth still has grievances and strong objections with certain actions of the Corporate Sector, I feel you will all agree that it is most appropriate that Earth Alliance abstains from the vote on this matter.
Also, at this time, I must emphasize that this is only a vote on the readmission of the Corporate Sector to the council. This is not a vote on whether or not to allow a Corporate outpost in the Cooke system, nor on whether or not Earth should sell it's Cooke colonies to the Corporate Sector."

A pale-faced man, Mr. Gorland, stepped to the podium. Reporters whispered--usually, Marxis made declarations, relishing the opportunity to tangle with the press. But the master was busy with other endeavours and this announcement was undeserving of Marxis's presence.
"I am pleased to announce the release of the Barret Report," Gorland said. "We have concluded that the battle in Minbari space between the Earth Alliance and the Corporate Sector was entirely the fault of Captains who followed their own initiative instead of adhering to Corporate Navy Directive One, which states that human life cannot be threatened or taken. The Captains did not have authorization to enter Minbari space, or open fire on Earthforce vessels."
"The Corporate Sector sincerely regrets the loss of life caused by this incident. We are issuing a formal apology to the Earth Alliance, as well as generous financial compensation to the families of the deceased Earthforce personnel who were killed due to this unfortunate accident."
"As a result of the Barret Report, the Corporate Sector is reorganizing its entire navy. Today, there are only thirteen vessels operating under the old Corporate Navy charter, and tomorrow there will be none. Next month, the new vessels constructed for the defense of the Yolu and Hurr Republics will be administered by the Finance Department and crewed by experienced civilian pilots or independent contractors. The Department of Interstellar Defense has been dissolved by Benjamin Marxis personally, until such time experienced personnel can be recruited and the reorganization is complete. Thank you."
"Millions of Yolu are persecuted for their political affiliation. Interstellar aid organizations are denied access to the Yolu homeworld. The Corporate Sector sold trillions of credits worth of military equipment to the Dilgar and are responsible for the deaths of billions of Centauri. Benjamin Marxis is a dictator, a war criminal, a murderer and most importantly one of us. It is our responsibility to bring our own to justice. Write your Senator today, and demand the arrest of Benjamin Marxis."
"Dr. Gunther, what is your opinion of the Corporate Sector's announcement today?"
"The Corporate Sector's been decommissioning its vessels like mad, or selling them at bargain basement prices. However, even the most optimistic analysts didn't expect Marxis to break apart his entire navy. Either the Corporate Sector's economy is failing faster than anybody knows, unlikely due to the booming trade with the Minbari Federation and the Dilgar Confederacy, or there has been a radical shift in Corporate foreign policy."
"What would happen if Earthforce intervened, right now?"
"Well, it's hard to speculate on the abilities of the newer Earthforce warships. However the new Earthforce heavy fighters, the Thunderbolts and Javelins, are powerful enough to take down capital ships. And every industry expert I talk to today tells me that the Earth Alliance has finally caught up to the Corporate Sector in terms of armadment and defenses. I think it would be a cakewalk."
"A cakewalk to do what?"
"Invade the Corporate Sector and restore their democratically elected government. A single carrier battle group could have done it a couple months ago, but now that Marxis's new warships are coming online, it's probably too late. Still, when Marxis transfers ownership of the warships to the Hurr and Yolu, if that's what he intends, we'll be in the same position half a year from now, with Marxis relatively defenseless."

"The Corporate Sector is deeply concerned with the disappearance of Chairman G'kar. The Narns have been a long-time ally of the Corporate Sector and we are saddened to see their territory occupied by Centauri forces due to the war between the Centauri and Dilgar. We urge both parties to begin negotiation for an immediate ceasefire so no more innocent lives may be lost. As well we urge all parties to exercise restraint and obey interstellar law."
"Non-governmental organizations such as the Interstellar Red Cross are concerned atrocities are being committed, by both sides. The Corporate Sector, once readmitted to the Mesopotamian Council, will put forth a motion for an interstellar monitoring force to separate the belligerents. We especially urge the Earth Alliance to commit troops and warships to the region. If the Earth Alliance is serious about galactic peace, it cannot continue to lecture from its ivory tower."
"Meanwhile, the Corporate Sector is working behind the scenes with the League of Non-Aligned Worlds, in particular the Hurr and Yolu, to assemble an intervention force, should the Mesopotamian Council not act. We would rather such a force be commanded by the Council, but we will not wait for bureaucrats to haggle while innocent lives are lost."

"According to Corporate spokesman Anthony Gorland, the CSS Polaris is enroute to Mesopotamia Six with a new Ambassador."
"ISN watchships have recorded footage of the Terra Imperia battleships beginning shakedown runs in the Maroth, Son'goth and Nocalo systems. Mr. Gorland denies any inspiration by the venerable Earthforce Terra carriers."
"As well, several million colonists embarked today on Benjamin Marxis's One-Year plan, which according to the Corporate Sector will colonize every habitable planet in their territory."

"The Centauri Republic abstains from the vote on the Corporate Sector's readmission to the M6 Council," Vir said.
Not that it makes much difference, seeing as how Marxis is already sending his ambassador here. Arrogant bastard, Vir though acidly. He would've liked nothing better than to shout an angry no, but it looked as if it would do little good, and they didn't need the Corporates' disfavor right now. Voting yes was not something he could do, though, not with one and half billion Centauri dead by Corporate hardware in Dilgar hands and Marxis lobbing accusations at them besides.
"I would like to take this opportunity to state that any accusations against the Centauri Republic has forcefully occupied the Narn Remnant are groundless," Vir went on. "We are not on any Narn planet that legitimate Narn authorities and leaders did not request us to be on. And we are not harming the Narn in any way. The search for Chairman G'Kar continues by both Narn and Centauri, and we hope he is found soon. We would gladly permit inspections by the Earth Alliance to prove that we are not abusing the Narns in any way."
For the Narns, the diappearance of G'Kar was--in human terms--a total clusterfuck. Despite the Chairman's best efforts, he himself pretty much had been the Narns' interstellar government ever since the Narn-Dilgar War. The Narn Remnant was near anarchy without him, and some regional leaders had been discussing handing over authority to the Centauri. Solar storms were playing havok with M6's communications, so Vir wasn't sure of the exact situation, unfortunatly.
Still, this unexpected turn of events could turn out quite well for the Republic. If they found themselves with both the Narn Remant world's and those of the Dilgar, they'd be a galatic superpower once more. One amoung several this time, but even so the thought intrigued Vir. And if it intrigued Vir, it probably left Londo salivating.

"Good, we can use this," Marxis said quickly to the aide."Forgive my manners. I am Ambassador Fala'andu of the Shadows. I was chosen as Earther culture and history were hobbies of mine before the last Vorlon war. Since we Ancients now find our traditional roles reversed, I am here to speak and build common ground among the younger races."
"I'm not too sure. Aren't we on their side?"
"We're on nobody's side but mankind's. Don't ever forget."
"Yes Sir. It might even work out well with the Minbari."
"Ah yes, their so-called Great War. After all the fuss the bonehead bitch made, I thought she'd shit a log when it walked in."
"He wants another advance."
"Tell him to screw himself. He gets his usual payment, and if he doesn't like it--" Marxis paused. "Get rid of him."

Rai'Jal looked at the communique closely.
Throwing the folder back onto the table he eased back in his chair and carefully considered things. A military alliance with the Brakiri would certainly remove a distinct amount of uncertainty as far as the Centauri conflict was concerned. But then again, they were particularly well known for being cowards... Afterall hadn't they used the cover of an alliance to storm the shadow worlds some years ago?
It was a long time ago, much had happened. Perhaps there were other factors involved? He carefully weighed up the pros and cons.
In favour were that it ideally meant that they would stand aside in the conflict with the Centauri, but then they had alliance with the Centauri to consider as well.
Counter points of this proposal meant that they would be able to move past the blockade in Rhagesh, and potentially the Vreetan-wall as well.
The 57 strong fleet of Black Sabbaths in the Centauri's front system were precariously placed to strike at Rhagesh should they desire, but then they may also come after the home systems should an alliance go through. Spies within the Centarm, had also informed him that they possessed a number of ships within the warp storm of that system and going by conservative projections may have as many as 100 space station facilities there making a very formidable forward staging point.
It was an interesting decision, one that involved many facotrs. In the end, he decided that the best course would be to sanction this alliance.
Rai'jal drafted up documents with an appropriote level of protocol, and had then forwarded to the Brakiri ambassador that was stationed on Cascan IV.

Rai'jal inwardly smiled to himself.
He wondered just what Vir might have done at the suggestion that the Dilgar be allowed to send 'observers' to verify the validity of the Centauri claims.

"What is the meaning of this, General?" Londo hissed as he pointed at the green dots in Centauri space.
The General sweated. "Excellency, for so long it had been safe to assume that if the Republic went to war, it would be against a foe that would annihilate us from space. Heavy garrisons were considered unneeded."
"I want the number of troops on all significant Centauri worlds increased as much as possible, General," Londo said. "If you cannot hold Centauri territory against an inferior foe, you will be looking for a new line of work soon."
"Yes, Excellency," the General said, and walked out.
Dmitri entered as he was leaving. "Excellency, the Narn provisional government has done as we expected and has offered total control of their worlds and military to us."
I conquered the Narn.
The thought came totally unbidden and Londo knew it wasn't true, not exactly, but part of him took a fierce pride in seeing the Narn join the Centauri Republic, and because of his actions, too.
"Any news on the whereabouts of G'Kar?" Londo asked.
"None, Londo," Dmitri said.
"Hm, this reeks of Marxis," Londo said. "I almost hope he is responsible. He'll be seething right now if he is."
"The Narn forces will be invalueable in the days to come," Dmitri said. "This will allow for greater coordination than was possible before."
"Indeed," Londo said. "Let the Warmaster enjoy her moment of triumph now. She will pay for pulling the Lion's tail."

"We've lost another seven agents in Narn space," said a black watch officer to Marxis.
"Send more spooks. Another fifty if you have to."
"If I may offer some advice--"
"No." Marxis leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "We must find that spotted freak before the Centauri. I want every resource made available. You have authorizaton to use any means necessary."
"Yes sir." The officer tightened his lips. "I've had rumors that it might have fled into Earth Alliance space."
"Then send your men there. I do not need to tell you how to do your job, do I?"
"No sir." The officer left.

"This just in--the jump gate between the Trembas and Lotna system has collasped. With the closure of this jump gate there are only three remaining direct routes into Earth Alliance territory, one through Minbari space, another through Mesopotamia Six and a third the final jump gate from the Corporate Sector to the Earth Alliance. More on jump gate disruptions on our next segment titled Interstellar Trade -- The Minbari, the Centauri and Brakiri."

Bi'Lar looked back towards the monitor. Casually he adressed the aide standing behind him.
"Did you send the offer as i asked?"
His aide promptly replied.
"Yes, sir. Are you sure it is the best course of action. It might agitate the Centauri further against us?"
Bi'Lar glanced back to the aide as a parent might to a child that has asked something plainfully obvious.
"No. Besides, it doesn't matter. Either Mollari will accept our terms and be congratulated by his people, or he won't and they'll hate him for it."
As he said that the monitor on his wall flicked to life. ISN was programmed into it. THe cheery Anchor lady began with her usual monologue but the point Bi'Lar had been waiting for suddenly came to air.
"In breaking news today, The Centauri freehold of Yonong have formally requested that the Dilgar install a provisional government. This they say is to help ensure that the barbaric Centauri republic does not initiate retaliatory strikes against the seperatist movement. When asked why they ceaseeded (sp?) from the Centauri republic the spokesperson for the fledgeling freehold quoted reasons of neglect for the outlying Centauri colonies from their decadent governement. He also pointed out that inviting their old slaves to be equals was not something that all Centauri agreed upon.
When questioned whether they thought the DIlgar would be better suited for governance over the Centauri, spokesperson Karn Mollari, emphatically stated that he felt their was no better choice. He said that the Dilgar of all nations have great social stability and give equal providence to all their colonies, not just the central worlds.
As a show of solidarity to the Confederacy, the Yonong freehold has also remanded the many insurgants who were trying to undermine their efforts for greater galactic peace. These traitors they say, have been moved to a secret holding station, and will be allowed to return to Centauri space should they choose. Karn did, in closing mention that their would be some beurocratic costs involved given the logistics of transpoting such a large number of beligerants. "
Bi'lar eased back in his chair, he was frowning slightly. He felt the story lacked a certain jujz, but in the end decided that it would suffice. Yes, he thought to himself, Mollari would have no choice but to accept his terms.

Ambassador Anna Oswin stepped out of her diplomatic shuttle onto the cesspool that was Mesopotamia Six, flanked by her four loyal Black Watch guard. What a place of disgusting alien scum. Even though they avoided the public areas of the station, it was impossible not to encounter aliens on their way to her quarters, and every time she saw one she was convinced the galaxy had spawned them as foils to human beauty.
When they reached Green Sector several station security officers met them. Commander O'Hare was missing. How insolent, to be absent from her inagural step into this station's so-called diplomatic sector. Diplomacy? These cretins did not know the meaning of the word.
"My apologies Ambassador. Because of your change in flight plan we were only just now informed of your arrival," the security officer said.
Of course she altered her flight plan. What, were they to work on a predictable schedule, vulnerable to alien attack? And this man called himself a security officer.
"Thank you. When is the next meeting of the Council."
"They're in chambers right now ma'am."
"Take me to them."
This time, their trip was relatively brief and undisturbed. When they entered the Council chambers, an alien was speaking. Anna took her place at the rear in an unoccupied spot, but far too close to the Centauri and Minbari filth to please her. Outside, she knew her telepathic guard was vigilant, but Anna kept her thoughts submerged despite this, knowing alien telepathy was vastly more powerful than it seemed. She used her training to project an idealistic young woman to the fore as a facade.
Anna waited for her turn. The Hurr and Yolu ambassadors nodded to her. Yes, the League of Non-Aligned Worlds, a useful weapon. It was well to use them, Marxis had told her, as one would use slaves. Still, it angered her that the Corporate Sector would soon give the League another two hundred state of the art warships.
"...Ambassador Anna Oswin of the Corporate Sector."
"Thank you," she said. "I thank all those who voted in favor of our return to this station. Let me first begin by saying the Corporate Sector is grateful to its friends." She paused.
"I had intended a rather long-winded and boring speech." She gave her disarming smile, the smile that melted so many hearts on her way to the pinnacle. "Instead I have distressing news. The Corporate Sector has discovered the location a terrorist cell damaging the vital jump gate network. They are operating from three warships in the Trembas system, along with a small courier we believe contains the jump gate disruption equipment."
"Luckily the ships the terrorists are fielding are of Corporate design." Her face twisted, feigning distress. "Even four rogue warships in the hands of terrorists could kill millions of innocent civilians in the Trembas system. Therefore, the Corporate Sector will use all appropriate force in annihilating these terrorists."
"As well, we will do our best to capture as many of these terrorists alive. From them we will discover the location of other terrorist cells, using any means necessary." She pretended this worried her, too. "Because of their non-affiliation with any interstellar power, they are not protected by the Interstellar Treaty governing Prisoners of War."
"Therefore, we will use any and all methods we deem fit to extract information from these terrorists and rid the galaxy of terrorist cells." She paused. "As Corporate laws allow regarding threats to galactic security, they will be publicly executed."

Londo scowled darkly at the holographic map in his office. "This is going to get worse before it gets better," he predicted.
Dmitri was having a hard time disagreeing with him. The Dilgar had captured several developed Centauri colonies and had apparently been taking advantage of the chaos G'Kar's disappearance had caused and been attacking Narn holdings with US cruisers. Whether they were ships that the Dilgar had had from their first purchase from the Corporates and held back or purchased recently and under the table from Marxis, they didn't know.
"We could request aid from the Brakiri or the Earth Alliance," Dmitri suggested.
Londo considered for a moment before finally saying, "No, not yet at any rate. The Dilgar lack the firepower to stop the First Expeditionary Force. We shall see how cocky they are when our armada is orbiting their home world."
Secretly, Dmitri was surprised that Londo hadn't rejected the idea out of hand. Brakiri aid meant dividing any spoils and Earth Alliance aid would give Marxis something to harp on. The fact that Londo actually thought about it made him feel very nervous indeed.

"The Corporate Sector has been working closely with the League of Non-Aligned Worlds in apprehending terrorists. One of the terrorist vessels recently discovered in the Trembas system evaded our attempts at capture and entered Hurr Republic space. One hundred Hurr defense vessels are now in pursuit. However, the vessel is far swifter and bears pirated Earth Alliance transponder codes. We warn all star nations to watch their jump gates for unusual activity."

"...as a result, the dust cloud failed to obscure the ships as we had intended." Deputy Director Murphy swallowed hard.
President Alshain scowled.
"I thought I ordered a recall of all starships under our command."
"Yes sir."
"What's this about the courier-class vessel?"
"They broke and ran when it was clear they had been spotted. Their engines permitted them to elude the Corporate starships. We believe they may be attempting to find a new hiding spot."
"I hope the crews on the ships that were taken down didn't know anything particularly compromising."
At this, the Deputy Director of Intelligence beamed.
"No sir. Minimal volunteer crews only, ships equipped with cryo-tubes for long-term reconnaissance. If we're lucky, they may have either gone down fighting or taken self-determination capsules."
The President sighed.
"If this gets traced back to us... it's your ass we're going to hang out to dry."
"...Yes, sir."
"On your way out, send in Admiral Foss."
Admiral Foss walked in, was offered, and took a seat.
"As we finish the last-minute checks on the new Omega class starships, we're going to start forming up fleets and deploying them." Alshain pulled up a holographic display on his desk and called up a ship list. "Admiral Harrison will be taking command of the Enterprise battle group. Admiral Szitovszky will take command of the Omega battle group. Admiral Harlock will take the Arcadia group... and Admiral Laumer will take the Concordiat battle group. Any concerns?"
"Enterprise will take a little while to rendezvous with the rest of her force, she got built way the hell out at Bentat. Other than that, nothing."
"Alright then. Keep up the good work. Continue with the fleet refresh as planned."
"Yes sir."

Rai'jal saw the report and sighed. This latest loss would leave home world virtually defenceless.
This latest Centauri offensive would be tricky to deal with but he was confident that Mollaris' ineperience in true warfare would be his undoing. Afterall the Dilgar were not some slave race like the Narns were.
Pup though he may be, any fleet attempting to invade Vreetan would not return...
Rai'jal smiled. The Centauri may have impressive ships but they knew nothing of warfare.
No, thinking on it Rai'jal sat confident that the Centauir would be too impotent to attack the Dilgar fully. That babbling crowd of drunkards lacked the stomach for it.
Looking through the other reports, Rai'jal' confidence was bolstered by the news that every other Centauri and Narn colony was falling in droves to their offensives. Perhaps the war would be over quicker than either arty had anticipated....

"The aliens are slaughtering each other."
"Good," Marxis said. "What's the data show?"
"The ships we sold the Centauri and Dilgar are performing well in the field. The Dilgar lost most of their US models, but the Centauri kept theirs alive by forming a large task force with Brakiri and their own native designs."
Marxis looked at the map. "They caught the Centauri with their pants down."
"Yes sir."
"Get ready to prop up whoever loses. No point letting one swallow the other. What's the Hurr doing?"
"They're moving in an expeditionary force."
"Excellent. And Kokkar?"
"Yes sir. We're managing to keep them supplied, but if the jump gate worked it'd be a far easier time on our transports."
"Good. Keep me posted." Marxis' rasped his desk. "What's intel saying about the Minbari or Earthforce?"
"They're not moving."
"Any word from Kullenbrach?"
"Not yet."
"Sir, about the three terrorist battleships still in the Trembas system--"
"I have a feeling I know who's on those ships." Marxis smiled. "And they won't be bombardng colonies. Leave the... terrorists alone for now."
"Yes sir. But Trembas's System Governor is screaming for help every minute--"
"Tell him to shut the fuck up. If he whines too much, can him."

"Despite having a formidable space navy, the Centauri Republic chose not to deploy extensive troop garrisons on its colony worlds. It is a decision that Emperor Mollari has come to regret as many Centauri worlds have been overrun by Dilgar troops. The Dilgar have been utilizing small and quick troop transports and the tactic of hiding within nebulae for cover, a favorite of theirs.
"Additionally, the Dilgar were quick to take advantage of the confusion in the Narn Remnant caused by the disappearance of Chairman G'Kar. What few United States class warships the Dilgar still possess were unleashed upon the Narn. The planet that came to be known as Spite during the Narn-Dilgar War was wiped clean of sentient life for a second time, this time by Dilgar using Corporate ships. Ironically, the bulk of the Narn's attempts at self-defense has been composed of Corporate made ships as well, these less advanced ships purchased during the Narn-Dilgar War.
"...I'm being informed that the Centauri Emperor Londo Mollari is about to make a public address. We bring you there now."
Despite his best attempts, Londo Mollari knew he looked like hell. But an emperor was too public a figure to hope to avoid the spotlight, especially at a time like this.
"Greetings to my fellow Centauri, my new Narn countrymen, and to everyone in the galactic community," he began. "As you have probably guessed, this war is not going as I had planned. The boldness--the sheer audacity of the Dilgar, was underestimated in war planning. Yet I urge my people to carry on, to do whatever they can to aid in the war effort.
"The Dilgar are monsters. Over the years, they have casually killed billions of people and have never once shown remorse. As if this wasn't enough, I have recently recieved a reminder of just how terrible they are. I have recieved a message from the Warmaster, informing me that if I do not give them a huge amount of refined minerals, foodstuffs, and radioactives, they will execute 100 million Centauri.
"As much as it pains me to do so, I must refuse. I will despair for those lost, but the Dilgar have shown time and time again that they are incapable of peaceful coexistance with the other nations of the galaxy. This war must be won or untold billions will pay in the future.
"To the Dilgar Warmaster, I issue a warning: if you make good on your heinous threat, the Centauri will show you no mercy. Just as you seek to place the responsibility for the deaths of 100 million of my people on my shoulders, so I place the lives of the people of your core worlds upon yours. Show some decently for once in your life, and my forces will likewise show restraint. That is all."

It was time, to end this charade. The Corporate Sector to move to a new stage in its development, one which would not need him as its figurehead. Marxis tapped his desk. Reports were coming in of riots and protests across the Corporate Sector. His emergency powers expired in a week, but Marxis had laid the foundation. For now, he would slip into the Shadows and give the people what they wanted. When he returned, mankind would thank him for his sacrifice.
"Good Afternoon. Many of you may remember me as the short-lived Prime Minister of the Corporate Sector. First I would like to say I have not been mistreated in any way. It may shock the public to know that I and President Marxis have been communicating during my imprisonment. I and he have our differences, and he will face justice, but the purpose of my announcement is not vengeance, but reconciliation."
"As his final act, President Marxis ordered the disbandment of the Black Watch and signed all emergency powers to me and my cabinet before vanishing."
"I am offering a blanket amnesty to all members of the Black Watch, the former Corporate Navy, and any and all Marxis political apointees and officials who have not committed capital crimes. This is not the time to assign blame."
"The Corporate Sector is beginning a new era of its existence. With the decommissioning of the final Iowa class battleship, the Corporate Sector has fulfilled the chief recommendation of the Barret Report. Currently, no active duty Corporate vessel is armed with capital ship weapons capable of harming modern warships. No Corporate vessel fields any type of armor technology."
"From now on all defense needs of the Corporate Sector will be provided by regional defense forces. Cooperation with the League, planetary fortifications and short ranged craft are more than sufficient to ensure regional stability without threatening an arms race."
"The Terra Imperia class vessels are currently undergoing final tests and will be delivered to the League of Non-Aligned Worlds and the Hurr Republic."
"Within the week, the final Corporate forces will be departing the Yolu system, to be replaced by League peacekeeping forces. In addition, the Kokkar system has declared independence following a referendum, and the Corporate Sector will abide by their democratic results. The Kokkar Republic has applied for membership in the League of Non-Aligned Worlds and the Corporate Sector wishes its brothers the best in their future endeavours."
"The Trembas system, recently colonized by Yolu and Hurr mining consortiums, will also likely enter the League as an independent state."
"Elections will be held this year to select a new Prime Minister of the Corporate Sector. A new constitution will also be drafted, by representatives and governors of each Corporate world."
"The Corporate Sector will strive for fair and free trade, security, and peace in the galaxy. President Marxis's rule of the Corporate Sector has come to an end."

Fala'andu sat quietly in his chambers and listened to the cacophany. Stacatto percussion from Dilgar missile swarms and energy discharges from Centauri Battle Lasers filled his conciousness. In his mind's eye, fleets roared through deep space, punctuated rythmically with the exploding fireball of a destroyed ship.
Chaos from Order. Order in Chaos.
Psionically he activated his chamber's communications system. A monitor flickered into life. Shortly the call was answered. A junior diplomatic aide stared out at him from the screen. Fala'andu knew the officer was doing his best to hide his discomfort, but a call from the Shadows was unsettling.
This, among other things, would have to change.
"I have a message for your ruler. Please ensure your Ambassador here passes it on."
"Yessir," came the prompt reply. "What is the content of the message?"
"Tell him that the Shadows find themselves prepared to offer another bargain, though this one will hopefully be more to your liking. The Shadows are willing to sell warships to your government to aid you in your war. All we require in return is the food to grow more for our own defence."
Fala'andu attempted a smile. It was a mammalian gesture that he was not well suited for. "We are no longer in the market for souls."
The aide repeated the message back to him, then signed off. Fala'andu hoped the Emperor would respond in the affirmative. The Shadows needed resources and friends, while the Centauri needed aid against an ingenious enemy.
Speaking of ingenious enemies.... Fala'andu smiled, and sent the same message to the Dilgar.
"In the past thirteen years many peoples have been deprived of their freedom and liberty by forces intent on seizing territory for the major powers. It is the hope of the League of Non-Aligned Worlds that the newfound autonomy of the Yolu is the beginning of an independence movement that will correct these wrongs and usher in a new era of galactic peace.
Our objective is not to cast blame, merely ensure that the native peoples of a planet once again be given the right to administer their own economies, laws, and practices.
The League of Non-Aligned Worlds strongly urges all governments to relinquish control of any world they control that is inhabited by another people, to that people's government or, if such a government no longer exists, to the League of Non-Aligned Worlds, currently headquarted in Quadrant 27.
Follow the examples of the Corporate Sector and the Vorlon Empire, and let us make this galaxy a better one for all sentients."

"Today's stunning announcement of the disappearance of President Benjamin Marxis and the Corporate Sector's return to democracy caught the entire galaxy by surprise. As her first act of office, the new Prime Minister of the Corporate Sector pardoned ten thousand political prisoners. As well, the Corporate Sector has released a document titled the ten-point plan to normalize relations with the Earth Alliance :"
1. The payment of one hundred billion credits to the Earth Alliance Department of State to settle class action lawsuits against the Corporate Sector.
2. The decommissioning of all orbital drydock facilities space station sized or greater operated by the Corporate Sector.
3. The banning of Particle Cannons, the high yield weapon used on all former Corporate warships including the now infamous United States Battleships, in the Corporate Sector.
4. The banning of all other types of capital ship weapons including but not limited to ion bolters, particle beams, lasers and plasma cannons on Corporate starships.
5. A weight restriction of seven hundred million tonnes for all future Corporate constructed vessels other than transports.
6. All Corporate vessels will now be crewed by unionized civilian staff rather than poorly trained personnel.
7. The reopening of the Trembas to Tala jump gate.
8. The banning of stealth technology and other advanced armors on all Corporate starships.
9. The banning of military grade electronics on all Corporate starships.
10. The immediate and permanent deployment of two Earthforce carrier battlegroups to take up regional defense of the Corporate sector in lieu of an armed Corporate navy.
"Prime Minister Nunziata is believed to be traveling to Earth at this moment with the entire Corporate interim cabinet for negotiations. Earthdome has yet to issue a statement the apparent overnight collaspe of the Corporate government."
