You mean like the ones they had just to have them in the game in the first place?Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Probably not; notice that all of the featured demos are Nintendo-published games.* To include stuff like Sonic and Metal Gear, they'd probably have to negotiate additional deals with Sega and Konami.SAMAS wrote:Okay, I think I got the gist of today's update.
Basically, Brawl comes with demo versions of some of the games it's cast comes from. From Ice Climbers and The Legend of Zelda to Super Metroid and StarFox 64.
I wonder if they'll have Sonic the Hedgehog and Metal Gear in there, then.

Demo stations out in Japan, this guy's been filming himself playing at them. Cool stuff.
Dedede looks hard core. Excellent recovery, he can chain-grab with ease, and according to Famitsu his forward-Smash is the most powerful move in the game.

IIRC, Kotaku posted an article some time ago with Inafune himself denying it.Anarchist Bunny wrote:Qwerty 42 wrote:WHOA Big news!

Brawl doesn't use the remote's motion controls at all, except for the pointer with menu navigation. It was something Sakurai decided on before they started development.
Control with the remote works like this.

Here's a gameplay video that features Captain Falcon, Olimar, and some others fighting ROBs and other crazy monsters in that new adventure mode. It looks pretty cool.

ROB training video. I never knew his name was just ROBOT in Japan. I hope they keep the Famicom colors as an alternate scheme.

Today's update is the first secret character, and says quite a bit about how they're working to make clones more distinctive.
The character: Ness.
Ness apparently has three different ways to unlock him. I guess they're trying to make that part easier, which is good, because getting guys like MewTwo in Melee was a bitch.
Nearly all of Ness' special moves have different properties than Lucas' versions, so playing them both doesn't work the same way. For Example, their PK Thunder attacks are different down to the way they get launched if they hit themselves with it. While Ness has the same Final Smash as Lucas, it looks and works a little differently.

I suppose when it comes down to it they wouldn't want to crowd the game with sword-users (there are a lot). That said, I would pay money to be able to play as Li Mu Ganondorf from Wind Waker.Qwerty 42 wrote:That's a little better, but come on. Ganondorf has swords. Two of them, even.
Also, this game is pretty much incarnate badass. The Subspace Emissary really has had a lot of work put into it, by the fact that it sends me into a delirious fugue.

Apparently people said clones were cut, but really its seems like they are just clones +1. Ganondorf seemed to have the same Moveset as Falcon, and Wolf has the same Final Smash as Fox. They are just going to be a little different, rather than just speed/size/strength changes.SAMAS wrote:Today's update is the first secret character, and says quite a bit about how they're working to make clones more distinctive.

Five characters isn't that many.
Regardless, I think Ganondorf should use a combination of hand-to-hand, magic/energy attacks, and sword moves. After all, as you recall, the entire fight with him in Ocarina of Time was him flying around shooting energy blasts at you. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess have him fighting with a sword, but he beats the crap out of Link with his fists twice during Wind Waker, and used all kinds of other stuff during cutscenes in Twilight Princess.
Imagine sword for Smash attacks and strong attacks, and fists for close range moves, then all special moves are fist or energy.
And yes, this game is EPIC. Especially Captain Falcon's Final Smash
How many fighting games can you name with five or more swordsmen? And Samurai Showdown, Soul Calibur, and other weapons-based games don't count.Praxis wrote:Link, Toon Link, Marth, Ike, Metaknight.Ford Prefect wrote:I suppose when it comes down to it they wouldn't want to crowd the game with sword-users (there are a lot). I have to say my favorite Final Smash is King DeDeDe. Just for the music, and his little dance.
