Yep pretty much. As far as that goes by this point basically only the information that's visible in a stock setup (albeit not necessarily easily visible) is sent to the client. Pretty much the only way of keeping information secure is to not pass it to a client computer.
Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Patch 8.11 notes are up.
Tier X TDs finally feeling the sting of the nerfbat, well deserved IMO, they consistently overperform comapred to other tier X vehicles. All 850 damage guns going to 750, Foch 155 getting engine and side and roof armour nerfed, Obj. 268 getting a HEAT pen nerf and not quite getting its DPM back (T110E4 and E3 will get their ROF increased to compensate for lost DPM, Obj. will get some ROF back, Foch won't), . And sounds like more to come, with them losing the class bonus to camo that currently makes them so good at hiding in bushes. (Srsly, the FV215b 183 has better than double the camo rating of the FV215b heavy, with a bigger gun on the same hull....)
As a medium and light player, all I can say is moo hoo haa haa!!!.
On the other hand, National Battles, which sounds like a comically terrible idea given the balance of power between trees. (Basically, tick this box only if you're playing something OP and also either American or Russian. And not tier 6 because holy KV-1S batman.)

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Those poor, poor British tanks. KV-1Ss vs Churchill VIIs?
Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Yeah, "here's a whole tree of support and specialist tanks, try and use only those!".
Same for French tanks except in tier 8 battles.
And German tanks at most tiers, except possibly games of infinite waffles.
Basically this is "Tick this box if you are playing KV-1S or T29".

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Germans would be decent at the high tiers, what with the Waffles and good generalists like the E-100, E-50M, E-75, Tiger II, etc. USSR and USA are going to pretty much dominate across the board though, and France/Britain/China/UK/Japan are fucked.
Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Sort of, as long as it's not a map where vision control matters because apart from the Leo all the German high tiers have terrible camo values. The US is in a similar place at top tier because of the woeful camo value of the Fatton but all the rest of their tanks are way more versatile than the German ones.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
What DO you do with a Patton to make it work? I got my M46 a few months back, and I'm realizing, one, I'm not really prepared to play against the kind of people who collect high tier tanks and 50%+ of whom are in clans... but also that I honestly have no freaking clue how to fight that vehicle. My Super Pershing I can play in to tolerably good effect, my IS-3 I can handle, but my Patton game is just an embarassment.

Oh absolutely, they won't be able to fight on even terms with the likes of the US, but they're not completely useless, unlike a force made up of FV215bs and 4202s.Vendetta wrote:Sort of, as long as it's not a map where vision control matters because apart from the Leo all the German high tiers have terrible camo values. T6 shouldn't be that bad. The average KV-1S driver sucks hard.Vendetta wrote: On the other hand, National Battles, which sounds like a comically terrible idea given the balance of power between trees. Re: World of Tanks Mark III
The average World of Tanks player sucks hard, but whilst he's sucking in a KV-1S he can roll the dice for 390 damage against a field of tanks which usually don't have much more than that in HP.
We all know that disproportionate alpha or burst is how you make an OP tank, disproportionate alpha on all tanks on one side is going to unbalance the whole side.
(ps. the average WoT player sucks way harder in a Hellcat than a KV-1S, even if the Hellcat is better in more situations for a good player)

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
I wonder, what would the KV-1S be like if it didn't have the 122mm gun, and were limited to, say, the 107mm that used to go on the KV? Or a 100mm weapon?

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
It probably looses its OP reputation. The truly incompetent players move to a different tank. Which mean the average KV-1S driver improves to sucks.Simon_Jester wrote:I wonder, what would the KV-1S be like if it didn't have the 122mm gun, and were limited to, say, the 107mm that used to go on the KV? Re: World of Tanks Mark III
The only real thing that makes the 1S even useful is that 122. If you take that away, it might as well be a medium tank. Armor isn't that great, and the non-122 guns leave something to be desired. Then again, I could be wrong since I'm the resident T-150 fanboy and haven't touched the 1S, stock or otherwise.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
If it gets a 100mm it'd be totally fine as a heavy/medium hybrid. The T-150 and frenchie would be the next highest alpha options, and are both a lot more reasonable.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Okay, seriously, what the hell are people doing with their T32s? I scored a 1241Xp and a 1719XP game, and neither got me above a first class. Also, is it just me, or does this thing tend to rack up the spotting damage in place of doing it itself?
Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Was that with premium?
I can't imagine a tank where 1700 non premium wouldn't be enough, but for a lot of high tier tanks you'll want 1300+ (which would be 1900-2000 prem).
Carry hard, especially against higher tiers, and you can get that kind of score.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Speaking of how terrible the KV-1S can be, I encountered a 3-man KV-1S platoon that was bellowing that we should prepare ourselves for a terrible reaming. And indeed, they inflicted serious damage. Sadly for them, they decided to not take cover at all, while my TOG lumbered into position.
All glory to the TOG!

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
KV-1S is a ludicrously powerful tank, but no amount of power can make up for sufficiently high levels of stupidity.
Re: World of Tanks Mark III
I think I have become dangerously addicted to scout tanks. But being able to "thread the needle" and blow past the enemy team to take out the opposition's 2 arty pieces while driving a mere M5 Stuart in a Tier 8 match is just so much fun.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
While pushing the definition of a 'scout', nothing is quite as fun to me as taking my ELC past the enemy lines and wreaking havoc while leaving everyone in my dust. Especially with the big boomstick that is the 90mm.

The ELC is not so much a scout as it is a sports car with an antitank gun riveted to the roof.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Double post, I know, but...
Just had an interesting experience with some ass in a T-54 who had the... whatever the mod is that presents players in a lineup with colors based on their stats. The phrase "casual gamers arnt welcome at higher tiers" stuck in my memory, and I thought...
Seriously? I'm not that good at the game, my computer sucks and always has which doesn't help, and nowadays I only play an average of... maybe several hours a month because I have a serious job and a wife to take care of now.
But the sheer idiotic waves of "stop having fun, you're cutting into my ability to look good by arbitrarily leveling up my winrate in a video game" coming off this guy's attitude is staggering.
