Do you think that they're (Sony) ready to do that now though? They've consistantly talked about a 10 year life cycle for the PS3, and they aren't even halfway through the lifespan at this point. Mind you, I don't think Sony's going anywhere either, but I don't think they're ready to start planning out their next console at this point, at least not in much detail. (imho)

Ready? Not likely. They're scrambling to do damage control as it is. I'm just saying they need to use this generation as the stepping stone to their next generation if they want to survive, much like what Microsoft did with the original Xbox. Forge new properties, find something unique to the PS3's hardware that takes full advantage of it and is, of course, fun.

Meanwhile, forget Sony's talking points for the PS3. They've been so laughable they're not worth the electrons they're transmitted with. I mean really, how many things have they said that were patently false? It's just silly, either they've lost touch with reality, or they're hoping we're all a bunch of idiots. One need look no further than the Sony ads which simply use the standard game ads, but at the end flash "Playstation 3", which imply that you can only get the game for the PS3. I can't count the number of times I've been in a game store, started chatting about some multiplatform game or another, and someone said, "Yeah, pity it's only coming out for PS3."

Maddening. Smart for Playstation, but utterly deceptive shit nonetheless.

I don't think they introduced a single game I want between now and the end of the year. Huh. If they had some Zelda or big new title that wasn't yet ready to be shown you'd have at least thought they'd have just said "coming next year" in preparation for a media reveal in the next couple months, but...yeah. Looks like buying a DS and Chrono Trigger just got a lot easier to handle.

EDIT- I've seen the point raised though that they introduced the Brawl trailer the day after the conference. Will be worth keeping an eye out for something.

I never knew that those Pokemon Ranger and Mystery games were actually selling, though that would explain why they keep making them, duh.

Call of Duty: World at War I was already speculating it for the Wii so it was nice to see, I guess, the game play wasn't exactly impressive. Wasn't it established that the Wii shooter peripheral sucked? GTA for the DS was a suprise for but, at this point if you have Spore and GTA on the DS, what's stopping them from having a Wii version of those titles and making the DS titles ports?

As for the actual presentation, it was pretty boring, the crowd actually looked dead during some parts. During certain parts they were basically repeating some of the samething over and over again which got annoying. Hardcore fanboys are already bitching on the message boards. I see now why we didn't here anything about Nintendo before E3.

Another thing, what the hell is so fun about Animal Crossing, I never got that. They say that they want to bring gaming to the masses, which they did but, they're kind of teasing the core gamers. I can't exactly call myself a core-gamer so I can't complain that much, I'm somewhere in between core and casual, except you'll never see playing a copy of Cooking Mama.

Atleast we're guaranteed another Zelda for the Wii in the coming years, given the patterns of the last consoles.

I guess with a less than satifying presentations from Nintendo and Microsoft (which was excellent for the first 30 minutes), you would expect Sony to take advantage but, Microsoft I kind of fucked them over again. Come on Killzone 2.

The thing that's bugging me right now is, Microsoft managed to show a number of software but, we know that they're other games like Left 4 Dead, Halo Wars, and other things coming out that weren't mentioned during the press conference. Which makes me have hope that we didn't see everything from Nintendo that they had to offer, obviously they aren't all hardcore games or else I'm sure they would have been mentioned but, I really want to know what those titles are. We have Force Unleashed and Mario Super Sluggers but, what else is there?

Character Growth, or basically, you get promoted and you can command other players. Planetside + Battlefield style commander.
256 players, squad based, promotions. What exactly is so cool? Maybe i'm not in the console sphere but this doesn't sound so cool.
And now, trailer.
They're showing off chain of command. If this is ingame, thats alot of players with pretty models. But I doubt it's anywhere near that in game.

So yeah, they're showing off some cool action. Really cool stuff. If that's anywhere near what they end up releasing this might be a cool game. The 'commander UI' better be a mockup because it sucks so bad you need to be paid to use it.

So now we have...5 games?
We're done everyone. I hope theres nothing worse then this waiting because there's only so much a person can take in a single sitting.
