More like I waited for the first price-drop before I decided to go with the 360.Stark wrote: Kinda like how Zod bought a 360 after the reliability issues were addressed I guess.
I don't think this is the case. Microsoft really doesn't have any huge first party sellers outside of Halo & Gears. Nintendo for instance can rely on their first party games stuff like WiiPlay, WiiFit, Smash Brothers, Mario Kart etc. which are all 10-20 million sellers.DaveJB wrote: Mind you, they were never really relying on the hardware making a profit (they certainly didn't with the original Xbox) - Xbox Live was always going to be where they made most of their money from, along with sales of their own first-party games.
Nitpick: Gears is console exclusive, but it's not a first party title. It was developed by Epic Games. Microsoft only published it.Stargate Nerd wrote: I don't think this is the case. Microsoft really doesn't have any huge first party sellers outside of Halo & Gears.
You're right, it's what's sometimes called a 2nd party title.General Zod wrote:Nitpick: Gears is console exclusive, but it's not a first party title. It was developed by Epic Games. MS owns the IP, Epic make the games, they split the lootz.Stargate Nerd wrote:You're right, it's what's sometimes called a 2nd party title.General Zod wrote:Nitpick: Gears is console exclusive, but it's not a first party title. The reason I included is because I don't know how MS & Epic handle the revenues/profits on the Gears series. MS probably gets a fair share.
The towel thing is simple. You overheat it to melt the thermal paste, allow it to re-set, and then it'll be OK.KroLazuxy_87 wrote: I checked the error code, and it came up as a GPU/CPU/Bios failure. (So says the internet, I couldn't find anything officially published by Microsoft explaining the codes) The internet has suggested a couple... uh... solutions. One includes wrapping it in a towel for hours and forcing an overheat reset. Another suggestion was to pull it apart and use a heat gun, hoping the solder would remake a better connection after being softened. While neither suggestion seems like a great idea, I'm digging out my heat gun tonight anyway.
Yeah, I figured that's what the towel did after I thought about it for a while longer. I've gotten the x-clamps off.(never seen anything like that before, btw) Is there something I can do to help fix it?Vendetta wrote:The towel thing is simple. What it really needs is the x-clamp which holds the heatsink onto the mainboard reseating or replacing. However, you could just get an Arcade for the price of a bag of chips anyway, so a repair may not be economical.
