Trust me, 5 million skillpoints is a pretty low hurdle, but that's kinda the point. A good corp will take a player as long as they are a team player, dedicated, and willing to do what it takes to enhance the corporation and the alliance that corp is in. Set the bar too high and you'll chase off all the good players who just haven't gotten to high sp's yet.

Besides, most combat in EVE is fleet combat. Blobs and what not. I've got 18 million sp's and I virtually never go out roaming by myself. Being able to perform your role in a fleet, even with low skill points, is much more viable for a new player than lone roaming.

Had a pretty fun day yesterday - initially started doing a wormhole hunting roam, with eight corp members hunting down, looking for sleeper sites and getting rich on the loot. Due to apparent acute boredom in Null, about half the alliance on at the time joined us and then it turns into a Lo-sec BC PVP roam  twenty of us vs the world! We had good leadership mind, TS comms worked well, and we popped a drake, nighthawk and a Tusker condor for no losses, which was cool.

We were right bastards and jumped a plexing fleet that was forming up - the Drake and Nighthawk got abandoned to their fates by about 13 comrades. They were not amused.....

The Tuskers decided to play station games when we shot them, but we made a fair dent in a Hyperion before it ran away.

Providence is about to get interesting again. Chribba has been given sov in 9UY4-H, the old North Providence hub system from the CVA days. Looks like most of Providence decided they wanted a neutral freeport, and with the exception of Ushra'K--er, DK, or whatever they call themselves after Hydra punked them, the entire Provibloc is backing it. Possible civilizing influence in modern Providence? Definite beacon to draw in every pirate and griefer in the South?
