Oh yeah, I think this game was worth it. Does it have everything we wanted? Nope. I still wanna see the Chief being able to fly a Pelican, f'rinstance. And yeah, the indoor levels can still be a little confusing (doesn't bother me though, usually... I'm really good at remembering the layout of a 3-D space. Helps in FPS's a whole helluva lot).

In short, there are definitely ways that the game could've been improved. Just as there were ways in which Halo:CE coulda been improved. However, I think the improvements they did put in make the game well worth it.
I certianly wouldn't swap GTA for it.
I agree, which just goes to show how great San Andreas is, doesn't it? I'd be hard-pressed to decide which one I like better...

They're two different games. For single player fucking-around, GTA is king. For having some friends over and having a good time playing a game, Halo 2 is god.

My thoughts on Halo 2:

-Weaponry: Vastly improved, with much more variety, and all around tune ups. Echoing comments earlier, the Battle Rifle is a godsend. (Except it tends to eat through ammo pretty fast, but that's probably just me.)

-Storyline: While I was hoping (and expected) a longer, more drawn out battle on Earth, I was pleased with the new Covenant aspect of the storyline.
The voice acting is great, and I almost never noticed the graphical pop-up for some reason. However, I thought the first few levels followed the same formula as the first Halo: Repel boarders, crash, regroup with Marines.

-Multiplayer: As good as it gets. It's a huge blast, especially with a headset and the ability to shout out whatever profanties you want at the other players. :) The levels are nice and roomy, with alot of good hiding spots and extra features (ie the gate on Zanzibar.) The customizable options are almost endless, allowing for some really weird and fun combos. It's also insanely addicting, and if my DSL didn't cause me to lag like hell during big matches, I'd be up all night.

I have, I suck, and they never shut the fuck up. Screaming even, past Midnight at times.

So don't assume I'm bitching because I've never played it.
The people in my suite usually yell about something until about 2. It sucks but I yell, and they tremble.

ROFL!!

God I love that guy. He's cool on so many levels. He kicks ass, loves Rock (AKA Flip), survived HALO, is imune to the Flood and respects the Chief fully for what he is and backs him all the way.

Two quotes from Johnson in HALO 2

For a brick, he flew pretty good.

I won't be able to play it until this weekend. Damn work.

I have one question though:
As an elite, do you have the ability to say "wort wort wort"?

Not as far as I know, but instead of a flashlight you get a cloak.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Monitor of Halo 04: 343 Guilty Spark
Monitor of Halo 05: 2401 Penitent Tangent

I sense a theme building. On a related note, it's finally useful to know exactly what happened to the Forerunners, rather than just having it implied. And it is nice how they connect the books, even if they're just in small ways.

Okay, maybe it was just me, but I was having one hell of a time even seeing the bad guys on-screen in the first level.

Pretty cool so far, but the tank is slow, and GOD DAMN THOSE CUTSCENES ARE SLOPPY.

Nope. The voice of GS is Tim Dadabo, while PT is John Michael Higgins. They might have started off as the same machines (for all intents and purposes) but the time they spent outside of communication had obviously caused some fundamental changes. PT is a lot more obstinate than GS.

Not sure if this is a spoiler, but just in case, For the few minutes that he is in the game, he is pretty much an asshole to the Prophet of Regret. Still calls you Reclaimer, although later GS calls all humans Reclaimers. It's obvious, then, that GS doesn't mistake you for a Forerunner because of your armor, but because you're human. Reinforces some questions people at HBO have raised time and again.

Also, I'm not sure what the hell the Gravemind is. From how the Arbiter reacts to it, I'd say it's some sort of super-Flood, though.

OK just went through the game on Heroic. Gonna try Legendary this weekend. Some thoughts:

The battle rifle is uber pimp. So long as you don't use it against the Flood. I dumped half a clip into one of those things and it still wouldn't die.

The shotgun seems weaker now.

Speaking of the Flood, they're scarier looking, scarier sounding, they drive anything they get their hands on, some now have shields ( the elite version) and they now make an attempt to dodge your shotgun blasts.

Hijacking a Banshee in midflight is so cool. Suffice to say, it was not an easy thing to do.

The reason why Hunters are so much more difficult I discovered is because, their cannon fire is in more of a beam now, so you don't want to touch any part of the projectiles wake. Their shields have a farther reach. They almost immediately bring their shields up over and onto your head if you side step them and try to shoot their back. The battle rifle does not have the effect the pistol did on hunters in Halo 1. You have to work on timing a little more now.

Treat charging Brutes as you would with a charging Gold Elite with a plasma sword. If you don't have a plasma sword, you can jump over them ( you can do this with a sword elite on Halo 1 as well). Needlers work well against them.

As an elite, do you have the ability to say "wort wort wort"
Elite speak in Halo 1 is regular english sythesized backwards. "wort wort wort" is actually "go go go".

gotta say, the weapons seem weaker in general.

A funny thing was when I was playing the bridge-crossing level (the one w/ the Scorpion), an elite attempted to hijack my Scorpion. When I got out and began fighting him, he then sat on the side of the scorpion and looked at me, but otherwise left me alone.

It's called the Gravemind and I think it's some sort of uber-Flood that has actually achieved intelligence. Or an obsession with rhyming.

The Covenant rifle works agains them pretty well. Three-four shots to take them down. (Obviously, better for picking them off.)

If the Flood is anything like the Flood in Halo, twin SMGs should do fine. :P Or a shotgun and frag grenades. Either rapid refire with lots of ammo, or area effect.

Yeah, it's not as uber as it was in the first game. Reloading takes a bit longer - enough to make a potential difference - and it's absolutely worthless at anything other than close range.

I'll point out that the Shotgun still kicks ass in close quarters, downing most beasties in 1-2 shots. SMGs and rifles are for midrange combat.

True, true, if anything it's even more powerful at short range in this game. One hit kills seem to be the norm, whereas in the first game a hit at close range wouldn't necessarily be fatal.

I'm talking primarily about the multiplayer game, of course.

No, rogue, trust me- it still kicks ass and takes names, it just doesn't do it at anything but knifefight ranges. Use SMGs for medium range combat.

Amazingly for short range...Multi especially...go for the sword.

Fucking A...that thing is obscene on Multi(mainly no ammo...unlimited near 1-hit deaths.)
