For the multitude of time zones and schedules involved, I think 3 of 5 games is really pushing it.

1 game or 2 of 3 would be sufficient, I would think. (just to keep things moving)

Bump.

So, has everyone finished this round, or is it just dead?

No new matches and stragglers from the first round makes it hard to make new games.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

I say give these people a deadline and if they don't make it, bye bye. I would like to continue with the tournament,

Let's say we set a limit for 17th July to finish the games in this first round. After that, on Monday, we set all remaining matches to draws (1/2 point to each player) and go on with the next round.

Opinions?

For health reasons I'm going to pull out. Assuming better health when Tournament 3 happens, I'll be back :D .

So far (If I remember correctly) there are three matches finished.

Also I would like to ask those that can't continue to announce it, so that we can either forfait the matches they are programmed to play or start a mini tournament with less players.

I apologize for taking so long to have my match with Bookworm. Unfortunately, we live on opposite sides of the world.

But we should have our match on Thursday.

There were 8 hours difference between me and Straha and we still managed to play 3 games before he had to go for a while.

I think we should see who's willing to play anymore and start over again, even if there are fewer people.

So far there is me, Archaic and Destructionator. Anyone else?

I'm certainly willing to play again (assuming the structure of tournament is still in place; I have already lost one round.)

Sure, I can play. By the way, what format would we be using double round robin, swiss, or knockout?

The one Straha started was using swiss (IIRC). But as it seemed to have died, we might start again.

I propose to wait till the next Sunday to see who is up to play and then, depending on the number of players, choose a format.

Should we give it another try or can we let this tournament slip into oblivion? If anybody still wants to play, please announce it here in the next couple of days. The least thing we can do is to make a small list of people willing to play, even if it is not part of a tournament.

I'm keen to play.

I could never get a match with Shinova because of scheduling difficulties. So if you'd be kind enough to match me against someone near my own timezone I'll be in. :D
