The articles mention something that might be cool--they said PunchOut games might use a similar set up in your left hand, so you can actually punch and have those movements registered in-game. Other fighting games, I imagine, would have to have tweaked interfaces, but nothing too serious.
You mean like the Power Glove?

I've tried to play games with the Power Glove, and trust me, we do not need another Power Glove.

That's true, but it can also be used as a traditional controller for games that call for it. Part of the Power Glove's infamous failure was also that it DIDN'T have functions like this new controller has, so the controls were extremely awkward. This new one, apparently, does much better in terms of intuitiveness.

Yeah, I thought that the two bits on the top and bottom of the picture of the controller were detachable things myself, until I noticed that there's an upside down "B" on the top dongle bit. It's just a head-on view.

Add me to that list. Count me among the people who are going back to Nintendo in the next generation (alright, the "virtual console" with downloadable old school games already had me sold, but this just makes it better).

EDIT: Nevermind. It looked like the top part was detachable from the picture, but it was a forward view.

BTW, IGN made a mockup.

ROFL, good point.

I can't wait to see America's Funniest videos next year. I'm sure we'll have someone playing a baseball game, and trying to pitch the ball, and swinging their controller, and accidentally letting go- causing the controller to fly out and smash their brand new plasma TV

I'd rather cut out my testes and swallow them than watch America's Funniest Videos...

Okay, that's a bit better. I'm still expecting some stand-alone accesories, though.

Anyway, Praxis, you saw back there where I mentioned that Nintendo's president said that they'd also be selling a more traditionally configured controller for the Revolution, right?

Anyone have any idea if this controller will be good with flight simulators?

I don't recall there being that many flight sims for the console market. All I can really see is another Pilotwings game.

I don't know what to think, yet. I might have to try it out myself.

Well, if the system is still going to come with a more standard controller in addition to the wand, then it's not so bad. I can see how this type of controller can have its uses in some games, provided I'm not expected to use it for everything.

At any rate, if this is successful, I'd imagine that Sony and Microsoft are going to release "gaming wand" perhipherals for their consoles within a week or two.

If we're really lucky, this may lead to a comeback for point-and-click adventure games.

I think he meant that the more traditional controller would be sold seperately, not included with the core system.

I was just thinking something, would it be possible (and insanely cool) if some company were to port over the Star Wars Trilogy arcade game and put it on the N5? Just to be able to have a saber duel with Darth Vader with one of those controllers would be one of the greating gaming experiences ever.

Isn't that game something like fifteen years old?

No. It was made in 1998 by Sega.

The original one is. Sega made a new one a few years back, though, that overs the entire trilogy. It was pretty cool, and an arcade near where I used to work had their machine set to give four continues on a single token, so I played it a lot on my lunch break.

Pong was pushing thirty years old when they remade it into a terrible game. I can easily see them redoing old Star Wars games or making a spiritual succesor.

I know the nunchaku is sold with the system, I'm not sure about the controller expansion.

You know, what's interesting to me is that the joystick plug-in unit reminds me of a type of one-handed controllers made for the Famicon, specifically for RPGs. Here's an example made by ASCII, the Stick L5.

I don't know if any of you guys followed SeriousGamer007. He kept a blog and claimed to know all the inside information The guy was a complete nutcase, contradicted himself every morning, admitted to being fake at least three times and changed his mind again the next day, started stealing 3D art from websites like Deviantart and claiming to have Revolution screenshots, posting the uglies controllers, etc, etc. I debated the guy personally, he's absolutely insane.

He also admitted to being a marketting student.

And it shows. He would say stuff like 'Believe!' and try to make 'inspiring' posts without actually giving any info. That's why people kept reading his site. I couldn't stand the guy.
He also claimed every week that on Saturday he would post proof, and never did.

The morning of TGS, he posted he would unveil the controller, and posted this.

Image
It has a touch screen!!!111

Then Nintendo unveiled the controller.

Everyone is laughing at him, emailing him, insulting him, calling him a liar, etc.
But then Nintendo you left me out to the wolves. You revealed just the remote. I had nothing to back up my claims.

The Fanboys retaliated with ferocity because they felt lied to.

The hype had no meaning.

For that the Nintendo Fanboys will not forgive me.

I will not forgive you Nintendo.
He blames Nintendo for making him look bad?

I am sorry.

This blog is no longer a tool for you to get marketing and hype from.

Now that this blog is independent.

You little picture on IGN that resembles the Controller pics that I was sent is not enough.
