I'm using the default theme for the forums...the color you used was barely distinguishable from the normal text color, I'm afraid.

You just need a better monitor, I'm afraid.

I've edited that offending post, and I'll be more mindful of my tangents in the future. Again, sorry for the confusion.

So my little bastard of a character is still alive, eh? Hiding under a desk or in the corner of some room off the main hall no doubt.

Man, he must be starving by now. It's gotta be morning as this point and he still hasn't had a wink of sleep either. Maybe he switched his socks and took a nap during the firefight...

Fast bastard, seeing as how the firefight lasted all of under a minute. ;)

There you are! Feel free to post away at your leisure. It's only been about a minute in game time since we last saw Stavis.

Oh btw, we're semi-freeform at the moment, meaning that you don't need to wait for me to execute turns to post. Only if expecting a response from an NPC or embarking on a course of action that needs my response. Just try not to turn it into a torrent of posts. I understand that many people like STGOD-style shitstorms, but I wouldn't be a happy camper if I logged on and had to read through 5 new pages of the campaign thread. :)

I like this semi-freeform style. I think we'll be doing it this way on a permanent basis, barring combat scenes. Just to make it flow better, though, include a a little OOC at the end of a post when you do something or want to know something that requires my input, even if it's obvious that the input is required, so that if I see that I should make a post and put it off until later in the day, I'll be able to see right away which posts I need to re-read when I post.

Also, I don't have as good a feel for when it's time to move on with the story rather than player interaction as you guys do, being the ones playing it all out and all, so let me know either with an OOC inclusion or in this thread when you want to move on, and when it's clear that everyone wants to, we will.

P.S. I was very impressed with the last post from CorSec and Alyrium. Great work!

It's been a few days and I thought I'd update: Marcao and I are in PM, discussing nothing in particular - in character, of course. The results of that are forthcoming.

Barring any unforeseen activity, I've been working on a post that should make an appearance relatively soon. Obviously, I'm not going to show you exactly what I have planned, but I did work on a teaser, even though the actualy post won't look at all like the following. I was in good spirits today, so I had some fun:

I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Lucas:

"How's the ear?"

Stacey reflexively reached up and touched her left ear. "Fine. It should be fine. Melissa already said she might be able to do some reconstruction on it."

Blaine crossed the room while she was talking, quietly asking to see her war wound. He tried to be casual about it, but he was nervous standing so close to her. He reached up and brushed her hair over the ear to get a better look. A sizeable chunk had been excised leaving only a jagged reminder.

"I've seen worse," he lied. He was still cradling her head, pretending to examine the wound further.

"Maybe now is a good time to upgrade," she commented.

"Stay away from the Ultradyne VIIs. They have tinnitus issues in the higher registers."

"Thanks, but you know the soldier stuff isn't what I want. I like the Perfect Pitch circuitry of the Roland XV 3080s."

"Oh, right."

After a pregnant pause, she realized that he still hadn't let go or moved away. She looked up to see that he was looking into her eyes. Another moment passed before she spoke. "Stop that," she whispered.

"Stop what?" He had taken to gently stroking the back of her neck. He still remembered the spot where the tension could tie her in knots.

"That," she was trying hard to sound insistent but a tremor in her voice betrayed her, "My neck is bloody."

"My hands are bloody, too," He leaned ever so slightly closer. She tried to take a step back, but she was already against the wall. "Are you afraid of me?" he asked, mockingly offended.

"Afraid?" She swallowed. Has it really been eight months? I don't remember his eyes being so green. Does he know what that look does to me?

"You're trembling." He stated softly.

"No I'm not," she protested none too vigorously.

"You like me because I'm a nice man." His whisper quiet voice was barely audible to her, even though he had moved even closer. Her breath was becoming shallow, her heart skipping beats.

"I happen to like scoundrels," she stated meekly. Any pretense at resistance was quickly fading. Her emotions and thoughts were swirling, the room began to slide sideways.

"I am a scoundrel," she thought she heard him say. Her own heartbeat was too loud in her ears to be sure.

"No you're not?" was all she said before the last centimeter between them disappeared. For a moment there was nothing outside of their embrace. The world turned to the beat of their hearts, lit by the fire of a kiss.

"Stacey! Stacey?" A voice rang out down the corridor. Their moment had been broken. As she staggered out into the hall, she muttered under her breath "Damn." Blaine watched as she walked away. He blinked a few times before taking in his surroundings as if for the first time.

C'mon! The prisoner can't interrogate himself! (But that would be funny to see.)
Joe Prisoner tries to look unfased. "I won't tell you anything!"

*Mikal looks sternly at Joe Prisoner*

*Dirk sneers, sneeringly. His unkempt appearance and eye patch succeed in fully intimidating Joe Prisoner. A slight wimper escapes his lips.

"You will talk," Mikal says, laying on his thickest, most menacing Russian accent. "We have ways of making you talk." He glances over at the not as imposing Dr. Lennox.

Joe Prisoner's eyes go wide at the not so veiled threat coming from the large man.

Lennox, who's had some acting instruction takes his cue and places his finger tips to his temples. "If you don't start talking, you'll start singing!"

Unable to control himself, Joe Prisoner opens his mouth and starts singing.

The hills are alive, with the sound of music!

The reaction of anyone within earshot (considering all of the augmented people, that's pretty much everyone) is instantaneous. Peels of laughter echo throughout the facility.

Maybe everyone's waiting for the dialog between Blaine and Lennox before posting anything.

Doh! Don't know why it slipped my mind that my input was needed on that.

P.S. Don't worry, you won't. Not with Explosives 8.

By the way, I think we're waiting on Mikal to start interrogating the prisoner. Well, Dirk and Lennox are anyway.

I'm gonna let everyone in on something that I should have made clear from the beggining. I have attention deficit disorder, which manifests itself in adults not so much as an inability to concentrate or short attention span, but as a singleminded focus on one or, at most, two things at once. So when I seem to lose all interest in the game and then be really interested and then lose interest again, it's not that I don't care about the game, it's just that it can't always be "the thing" (tm) on my mind.

So there will be periods where the game will drag and it will seem like I don't care about it, but I ask you not to give up on it. Hope that clears things up.

We all know you'd rather focus on porn. Heck, who could blame you?

As for my recent post in the campaign thread, no GM action is required. I figure I'll find Stacey at some point without meeting my doom. I'm just leaving space in anticipation for another event.

As an aside, I'm a bit upset at the latest news. Good grief, couldn't they have come up with another name? I can't win for losing. First Mythic steals one of my character's names and now Mattel. There's some kind of conspiracy here, I just know it.

(As an aside to the aside, Blaine Richards is actually named after Bogart's character in Casablanca, Rick Blaine. I had just seen it for the second time when this campaign started. Odd - almost karmic - that he too is in love with a woman involved in a revolution, no?)

Not to be pushy, but are we going to have an interrogation here or what? That's the only thing holding us up. Or should I have the prisoner just trip and hit his head and a rock and die so we can move on?

First: Yay!

Second: What I posted above was merely one of the concepts I was working on. It took me three weeks to finally get to what I actually posted. I wanted something between utter contempt for one another (which I couldn't write if I wanted to) and them gettin' freaky - which I don't want to write at all.

Art: Just a reminder, if I take too many liberties with an NPC be gentle with me.

If by being gentle you mean decorating the walls with your vitals, then that's right up my alley :D

I did.
Mikal wrote:Mikal eyed the prisoner, then the good doctor, keeping silent until they reached the holding room. Under other circumstances, he would have berated the doctor later for his interrogation methods. However, in this case, it was forgivable. The subject was ready to crack as it was. A child could have gotten him to talk in this state. Once in the room, he took a nearby chair, spun it around and motioned for the prisoner to sit. If he took a little too long, Mikal would give him a sharp shove to land him in the chair.
