I've got a friend that often does some DJing at get-togethers, such as weddings, for friends. He's got a laptop with a whole ton of music loaded. He was asking me about audio applications, which to be honest I don't know as much about as I should.
He wants something that can do some basic audio editing and at minimum be able to edit out words as necessary and cut and splice songs.
Free is good, but he's willing to pay for a decent program.
What would you guys recommend?

Audacity isn't much help for DJ'ing Ace.Ace Pace wrote:Audacity?
If he can afford it, TRAKTOR DJ Studio on OSX and VirtualDJ on Windows are probably the two best semi-pro apps. They cost a fair chunk of change ($200-$300), but they are well worth the price and a necessary investment for the type of DJ'ing he plans to do.
There aren't really a lot of great free or cheap options with DJ software as you pretty much get what you pay for in this area.
EDIT: Here is a nice roundup from Arstech
