SEV Crash-avoiding tips

Does anyone have a list of things to 'not do' to reduce the v1.13 SEV crashing? It's a neat game, but I'm getting tired of crashing and having to replay turns. Turning autosave to 'one turn' seems like the only solution, but that's pretty lame.

Hey where the fuck are you in Tuxedo's SE:V game? I wanted to kick your ass in something.
I would save every single turn, and run a memory cleaner before I start the game. Apparently it keeps sucking memory until it's all gone and then it crashes.

Oh I see. All the crashes I'm getting are 'press a button, falls down' style.
And I suck pretty bad at SEV at the moment, but it's pretty cool. I already have a list of UI changes I want, though.
The treaty system alone is the win.

Everybody sucks, the game just came out.
You should've joined, it would've been a blast.
Exactly what kind of buttons are you talking about (eight other people playing in the game will probably want the StarkTM wisdom), crashes for me only when I alt-tab a lot. And usually it's some kind of memory error.

The only thing you can do is be keen and notice what exactly you're doing to cause a crash. Then, once you load the game back up, don't do whatever you did to make it crash
I had one savegame from 1.08 where if I tried to load troops from one of my planets with this one troop transport, the game would crash. After the third crash I realized this and simply resigned myself to waiting a turn to load those troops into that transport.

It's actually often the 'loading' or 'deploying' windows for me: like for satellites, mines, troops etc. Pre-patch it would crash if I randomised my atmosphere type.

Play simultaneous games instead of turn-based. Then you won't need to deal with the loading window if you use the load command rather than the transfer command, and if it does crashes you won't even know why! Good shit.

Eh?
PS the SEV manual sucks and I never played the other ones, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Mine just hangs between rounds. After so many rounds the game would get stuck processing player 6. It is always on player 6 that the game would hang.

When you make a new game go to multiplayer then there's turn based and simultaneous. Simultaneous means all the orders are executed in between turns... when you load you won't immediately load, when you move you won't immediately move, and so on. It's the kind of game used when there's more than one human player on different machines, but you can play simultaneous with one player as well.

Ick, why would you *want* that?

Train like you fight and fight like you train.

I'd rather enjoy the game. The PBEM game is not my preferred way of playing; its far too slow.

This sort-of happens to me: it often gets stuck on a certain player. If I alt-tab out, do something for five seconds then switch back, it continues. Otherwise I sit there waiting for player 8 to do his shit forever.

I've tried that and it doesn't work. I guess this game is a resource hog?
