Overclocking on Socket 939

Post by Ace Pace »

Okay, I feel I got a good grasp of how to do it. Keeping the HT bus between 800-1000mhz, however, maybe I'm just stupid, how do I control the memory bus frequency?
I've been told that I should try and keep the DDR memory at 400mhz rather then say 440mhz but I'm not sure how.

Flames, mocking replies, welcome. :oops:

For mem freq, there should be an option in the BIOS labeled memory divider. You'll want to reduce it to lower the mem freq.

Thanks, got up to 2.4GHZ while keeping the memory at 396MHZ, thank you.

Here's how I did it with my 3700+ and 2 gigs of DDR400 on my A8V.

HT frequency= 800Mhz (this is how my BIOS labels the 4x multiplier)
Memory divider= DDR333
Command Rate= 1T
CPU multiplier= 11
System bus= 246
Vcore= 1.40v
Stock AMD retail heatsink/fan.

This gives me a 2706Mhz clockspeed (2200Mhz stock) while keeping my RAM at 193.28Mhz, which is right below its 200Mhz rating and lets me run tight timings on vanilla DDR400 with no problems.

Similar to what I'm slowly doing, I'm holding off reaching 2.7 since I don't have time to run 24 hour long Prime95 benchs, and I can't stress my RAM.
