Issue installing IE7

I've had to reinstall windows and have been trying to get IE7 to install the past few days.

I've tried both the RC1 version and the final version. They both stop installing at the same point with the same error.

Code: Select all

65.000: DoRegistryUpdates:UpdSpInstallFromInfSection Failed for ProductInstall.GlobalRegistryChanges.Install error: 0x5
65.000: INF_REGISTRY Failed
65.000: DoInstallation:DoRegistryUpdates failed
65.031: Access is denied.
65.031: Internet Explorer 7 installation did not complete.

Select 'OK' to undo the changes that have been made.
65.031: Starting process: D:\windows\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe /~ -q -z
91.453: Software Update Rollback has completed with return code 0xbc2. This rollback requires a reboot.
91.453: Internet Explorer 7 installation did not complete.

Internet Explorer 7 has been partially updated and may not work properly.
91.453: Update.exe extended error code = 0x5
Any advice?

Install Firefox instead.

If you absolutely need IE7, make sure that you don't have a program running that prevents registry changes (like Spybot S&D) as it seems that you're unable to update the registry.

Hmn, I got AVG 7 and Zone alarm running, neither should be interfering. :?
