Got your Wii?

It's 3:30 AM, so I have to go to bed, no time for much. Let's just say two of my sister's friends that stayed to spend the night came to see what I was so excited about, and played for over two hours. One of these girls has an XBox, the other hates video games. Both called it awesome, both are thinking about getting one, and we literally worked up a sweat playing multiplayer (all laughing and having tons of fun).

Best gaming fest I've had in a LONG time, and with a non-gamer at that! We all created Mii's and went at it in Tennis and Boxing, then did a little Excite Truck.

I LOVE THIS SYSTEM!

I refused to put Zelda in because I will not be able to sleep otherwise and I have to get up early tomorrow.

Red Steel and Zelda are full of ass kicking goodness.

Got to get back to Zelda...

How's the nunchuck and remote (i.e.--have the worries you had proved baseless, are they actually much better (more fun, etc) than the standard controller, etc)?

I haven't gotten the Nintendo Wii yet because my local Target doesn't open for another few hours.

As some sort of poetic justice, my 360 bricked itself this morning. To get it fixed will cost me almost as much as...a brand new Wii. There is surely some sort of conspiracy against me.

I have two tickets to get consoles when the local store opens in around an hour, and a Twilight Princess preorder due later this morning. Waiting an hour in line for the ticket was a thoroughly painless experience.

I had a good laugh at the people in line at the best buy today. Good god, some of them were in line for two days!

I have pictures, I just couldn't believe it.

I headed out to Walmart around 10:30 last night, expecting to get a Wii easily (semi-rural area and Wiifinder reported every other Walmart store in the region getting 54 of them). There were 20 people in line, and a guy in line said they only had 20 units. I headed inside to ask an Electronics clerk myself, and, yeah, only 20. Damn.
So I bought some pretzels and cheez-its and headed to Fred Meyer, which the line guy said was supposedly getting 40 units. I didn't expect much of a line here at all...but it wrapped around the corner of the building. No chance.
Even though I knew Target didn't open until 8, I doubled back and went there for the hell of it. There was one person in line. I figured, "What the hell?", went home, grabbed some soda and another book, and sat on a metal bench, #2 in line, until 7am (well, I took a break around 3:30 or 4 to run to Walmart to grab some pocket and foot warmers; my feet were starting to get quite numb). 7am rolled around and they gave out placeholder tickets (the line was about 25 people long by then), sat in my car for 45 minutes, went in, and got my Wii, an extra controller, the classic controller, Zelda, and Call of Duty 3.
I don't have much energy left now, but I've got to at least hook it up before I crash...

No, this American doesn't have one either, 'cause all the stores in the area were sold out. Too bad.

According to a TV reporter, Nintendo will ship 4 million more units to ship before Christmas. So, I hope to have one in the next few weeks.

Got it! Waited outside the Best Buy sicne 5 AM. Great bunch of people, and I saw a good number of old classmates from high school, and one from my college. We had lots of laughs. At about 5:30 AM, there was already a significant line. A friend of mine at the front had been waiting since the day before, and was keeping a list of everyone who showed up. He said someone from Best Buy came out and said there were about 50-60 units, and I was about number 49. I asked him if he would save my spot, and got some Starbucks in the meantime. At 7:30, Best Buy employees came down and checked the list to make sure everyone was here. There were about 55 people in line at that point. Some had left, (Don't know why,) and I got bumped up to 43. They handed out pamphlets with lists of games available. They then explained that they will hand out tickets at 8, and once they open at 9, we will have 'till 10 to pick up our system. After that, anyone can buy it.

At 8, they started giving everyone out tickets. Some more people who had shown up at the tail end didn't get tickets. Some of them stayed (just in case), and some left. Eventually, some reps came out and said they just counted 63 units, and the 3 people at the end got tickets. A woman showed up saying she waited all night at Target and they didn't have enough, so she didn't get one. She also said there were families with 3 children, each one holding a Wii. (Best Buy did a one per household thing, so there was no problem.) She offered me $50 for my ticket in jest. In jest, I replied "Screw you, bitch!" and we had a good laugh. Someone explained to her that a Target further out had about 160 units. She thanked him and went there.

The doors finally opened at 9. There was a single file line. No mad rush, no stampede, no shooting. Very well run and smooth. I picked up my Wii with Excite Truck, Red Steel, an extra controller and nunchuck, and 2000 Wii Points.

I have homework to finish, but I look forward to playing it today. :D

I feel like a jerk...but I drove by Best Buy holding my Wii up in front of all the campers :D

The Best Buy people were angry but the guys at Target were funny and chased my car halfway down the block grinning the whole way, I slowed down and he jumped in my window and asked what games I bought :)

I've got one Wii, four remotes, two nunchucks, Zelda, Excite Truck, and Wii Sports.

Unfortunately, all my homework is due Monday...ARGH.

I woke up at 6 am, and got in line at 6:45 at Best Buy. At 8, they started handing tickets out. Out of the 102 Wiis that they had, I got #90. :D

I have set up my wireless connection and I have made my Mii. All I need to do now is pick up Zelda, which I preordered a month ago.

And I only had to wait in line at Costco for 30 minutes.

I hate you all :(

First of all, I live in England, which means no Wii fun for several weeks. Secondly, I have no TV, so even if I could get one, I couldn't play it till I get home. My brothers are getting one for Christmas however, so I should be able to use that when they're in bed, and when they've gone back to school. Every time I hear anyone mention how good Zelda is, I almost want to cry. It's the first game I've been looking forward to this much since Majora's mask, and I am expecting it to be absolutely epic.

This whole bloody thread is people cranky that they don't have one or sharing their bizarre stories about getting one. Where are the after action reports? I demand information.

Err. . . had one for a few weeks? :D

We bought Madden '07 (pretty good), CoD III, Monkeyball, and Rayman. I have yet to buy the latter three, but it's still awesome :)

Zelda is sooo fun! The Wiimote is great once you get the bar set up right. Wii sports is something that I have to show the family when I go over for turkey day. Red Steel ain't that bad, although the controls are tricky to get used to and I have a habbit of looking at the floor and spinning after the person that I'm talking to stops talking.
